The war was over, the troops had gone home, and Neued was being rebuilt. It would still be some time yet before things went back to 'normal', some things would never return to the way things were. There was a shuffling of leaves within the brush of the forest floor. Something was lurking out of sight.

A flash of teeth showed the protective nature of this janarim. His master - an Oban soldier - lay dead. The janarim had pulled his master, then injured, away from the others and where they would be safe. Though his master lay dead now, his skin cold, the janarim still protected his only known companion.

Quest Tasks
||. This quest is for Aysun to find Maw - his janarim.
||. Maw is still protecting his master, loyal even in death.
||. Maw will choose to stay with his master even if it means starving to death unless Aysun can persuade him otherwise.
||. Janarim are fiercely loyal and it will be tough to get him to see Aysun as anything but a threat to his master.
||. The quest should end with Aysun acquiring the janarim as a new familiar of his own.

Part 1: Overheard Gossip

The voices of other villages, passersby at that, caught Aysun's attention though only vaguely. He couldn't say that he was all too interested in their chat, not one for eavesdropping, until he heard something that made him sit up and take notice. Leaning over so that he could look down at the group of three who were chatting amongst themselves his blue eyes went wide as he heard some rather interesting gossip, gossip that seemed to be spreading from some distance, all the way to Yera. Something was out there, near to Neued which was being rebuild, that was making quite the racket. There was a description of something big and scaly prowling around, having seemingly made one old tree in particular its home, appearing as though it were protecting something. Instantly Aysun's mind was whirling and he had to lift his hands up to cover his mouth, smothering the squeak of delight. He knew, he knew what it was! There was a radaku there and he'd bet anything it was a mother who was protecting young! That meant that if he were careful he'd be able to get one of them of his own.

Pushing to his feet he instantly rushed inside, ignoring the looks that he got from his uncles who he'd been hanging out with for a few days, "I am going to going out for a bit! Might sleep over at a friend's place!" He said, his voice excited as he grabbed up his pack, stuffing in what had ended up escaping from it over time, along with some food and a water flask for the journey to where he was heading. A thought came to mind and he was quick to tack on, "I'll be fine, don't tell my mother!" If she knew he was out investigating what could be a radaku nest she'd flip out, probably follow him, and tell him that the 'last thing he needed was another pet when you already have so many' along with various other lectures. This was important though, he'd been wanting a Radaku for ages and if this was his chance to get one then he had to take it! She'd figure it out eventually, the fact that he what who he was, what he was, and that his pets were very important to him.

Aysun made his way down out of the house his Uncles Jacinthus and Takoda lived in, landing on his feet amongst his pets who seemed to have gathered the moment he'd gotten up. He looked between them for a moment, a thoughtful look on his face, then finally said, "Pembe, Sunshine, Kapilla, I'm sorry but the lot of you are going to be assigned to guard homebase which today is there. I'll be back as soon as I am able, behave yourselves." He pointed to his uncles' place, he then turned to his sprite who was hovering in front of him, breath held, awaiting orders, "Flower, you're with me." The Sprite gave a happy, chiming sound, and was quick to land on his shoulder, holding onto his hair as he hurried forward. As he did so the other three were quick to invade his uncles' house, determined to guard it as they were told to do. He was sure it would drive the pair of them crazy but at least he was positive that Uncle Takoda wouldn't let Uncle Jacin eat them, so that was a plus.

As he raced along he said to Flower, "We might very well have a lead on a radaku nest, Flower, isn't that exciting? At long last one of them is going to be joining out army! It's going to be so much fun to have one of those one our side and just think, less walking!" He seemed to go all over the place, by foot, and he could only imagine how far he would be able to travel if he had a mount that could help to ease the burden. Pembe helped, of course, he carried things for Aysun, but really long journeys were going to take even more then that. Either they would take more time or they would take the help of a mount to carry him along on its back. Since he'd yet to have any luck with a Mammu magically appearing, drawn in by the colder then usual weather, he hoped that this would work out instead.

He gave a thoughtful sound as he went then said, "If I am right though, and it is a nest, it's going to take a bit before we can ride it, huh? It will just be a baby." He gave a thoughtful sound, then shook his head, "That should be fine, I mean it's not like it will take forever to grow up! I mean just look at Sunshine, she's been getting steadily bigger since Uncle Jacin gave her to me. No matter, we can always find Serazza's dad, ask him how long it takes before a Radaku can be trained to be a mount." His mind was racing with eagerness as he headed toward Neued, which was some distance from the village he'd been hanging out in, where his new companion was going to be waiting for him. It was a bit out of the way, a lot more then a mere walk like what he'd told his uncles he'd be doing, but surely they wouldn't worry? Not when he'd been smart and tagged on that whole 'sleeping at a friend's house' thing. That should buy him some extra time that he might sworely need to make the journey to and from his uncles' place.

He was a big boy though, he could take care of himself, and snagging himself a little Radaku would be worth any and all effort and time spent on the endeavor, "It's going to be so great to bring the little guy home and show him off to Chandra! Oh, maybe I should wait until he's asleep and let it crawl into bed with him?" It was a suggestion that had both Aysun himself, as well as his sprite, laughing as they hurried along, doing their best to cover the distance as quickly as possible.

The last thing they wanted to do was approach a place with a dangerous mother Radaku in the dark after all. Best that they got there with plenty of light so they could get in, get out, and do so being able to see everything easily. If they were kept for more then a single night then someone was sure to come after him and ruin his fun. He'd need to cover as much distance as possible and hopefully get to Neued so that he could rest there before heading out to the Radaku nest.

Part Two: Not a Radaku

The first thing that Aysun had done upon making it to Neued was to sleep, exhausted, his legs refusing to obey him any further then they already had. It was a shame, it being a bit on the later then he'd of liked side, but he couldn't very well go out into the forest now. He'd rather not become a meal for the Radaku that he wanted to become friends with. Instead he was going to get himself a nap, sleep off the exhaustion and ache in his legs, then he would continue on with his journey to what he hoped was a nest full of Radaku, one of which would have his name on it. Figuratively of course, though if one was actually wearing a collar with his name on it, he'd go for that too he thought to himself as he sank into a deep slumber.

He came too again many hours later with Flower jumping up and down on his chest, trying to get his attention, to make him wake up and look at him, wanting him to know it was time to wake up and get his backside moving! Sitting up slowly, one hand rubbing the sand from his eyes he said, "Mmm, I was having the best dream! I met with a Radaku not far from here! Of course it had green eyes and it was reading a book and it was ignoring me... weird huh? A bit like Chandra when he's in a mood." Chuckling he dragged himself to his feet, shook various debris from his hair, then looked at Flower, "Shall we? I want to see if there is actually a Chandra look-a-like Radaku out there in the forest waiting for me."

A bit of investigation in Neued, and a short walk later, they were arriving at the specific, tilted tree that he was told about, Aysun found himself wondering, as well as worrying, if the information that he'd overheard might be off. It didn't really seem as though anything were going on there, it seemed quiet in fact. Surely if there was a mother Radaku around there would be the sounds of her as well as the sound that her young would be making. Peeping or hissing, he wasn't quite sure what sound babies made. What if they had been here but moved on? The weather was cold and babies were vulnerable to that, what if he was too late? What if they had moved on, went into hiding in a burrow under one of the trees. If that were the case he'd never find them... but he couldn't give up, not yet at least.

"Flower, can you do a scan from on high? If there is a Radaku there don't let it see you, I don't want you getting hurt because she is in a bad, overprotective mood. Think of her as being a scaly version of my mom." Flower seemed to make note of that scary visual, nodded, then flew high into the air before buzzing forward toward the tilted tree while Aysun made his way up a nearby tree to put his pack safely in the branches. Squatting there, eyes narrowed, he waited for Flower to return with a report. What came next though was something that he could never have expected as Flower suddenly came rushing his way, screeching the whole way, and threw himself into Aysun's hair. The blue eyed boy blinked a couple times then said, "Not a good sign, she not in a good mood? Or?"

Flower merely gave some rather displeased sounds, giving Aysun's hair a yank as though to punish him for sending Flower on that mission. Giving a chuckle he said, "You can wait with the pack if you want, I am going to get a look." He said, allowing Flower to abandon his hair to hide in the pack while he started forward through the branches, wondering what had happened to spook him in such a manner. His progress was slow and careful, not wanting to alert the one that had scared Flower. Upon getting to the tilted tree he looked over the edge and gave jerk as he saw an Oban down there on the ground. He fumbled for a moment, looking around for some sort of stick or rock to use as a weapon... before remembering that the war was over. If he attacked it would make their people look bad even though it was the Obans that were the aggressors he thought to himself, creeping along to get a better vantage point.

It was upon getting that better look, that he noticed something, blood, a whole lot of it, staining the man's clothing and the ground around him, "Oh damn..." He breathed, climbing down, slowly approaching, "Hey... man, you alright?" He asked, coming to a halt as he got closer to the man but the closer he got the more he noticed. The wounds he had, how deep and severe they were, the amount of blood, how still and pale he was. The man was dead, he probably had been for a while, maybe since the end of the last battle but the cold was sort of keeping him preserved better then if it were still really hot. Was this was had scared Flower off? As though to answer that question there was suddenly a deep, rumbling sound from behind Aysun that made him freeze in place before he turned slowly to see what was there... and almost wished that he hadn't.

It took only a moment of thought to realize what was behind him, one of those beasts that the Obans had been riding during the battle. He'd seen them from a distance but hadn't engaged them, instead having been too tied up trying not to get crushed by the giant war beast. The one before him, probably his rider, meaning that he was between the creature and its rider... not good. Turning around he lifted his hands up instantly, showing that he held nothing in them, before he started to slowly back up, "Hey there, big guy, I was just... umm... passing by. Thought I would see if he needed any help and... oh man, those are some rather big teeth you got there, huh?" He said as the creature barred said teeth, it's growling getting a lot more threatening as Aysun moved, slowly stalking toward him. It took him a moment to realize the big creature was herding him away from the dead Oban man. A sure sign that the man was important to him but surely he must know the man was dead? A part of him wished he could ask but the creature wouldn't understand, meaning it was best to put distance between them so that he could figure out what his next move was.

Glancing from side to side he looked for a good way out, and was quick to take it, rushing away from the creature, through a narrow gap between two trees, and was quick to climb up into the branches. The creature chased him as far as the two trees, snarling and clawing at them for a time, before turning around to rush back to where its rider lay, returning to looking after the man, or what was left of him at least.

Part Three: Sharing a Snack

Sitting in some high up branches of a tree with Flower, glancing in the direction of the tilted tree, he said, "It seems that there aren't any radaku around, are there?" That was probably his fault, he'd been certain that the description he'd heard was that of a radaku, mostly because he'd never thought that one of those creatures would still be around. He was sure that they would be gone... but he was wrong, wasn't he? They were still around, at least the one was, and it was guarding its rider's body. It was something that Aysun was impressed by, the thing showed a lot of loyalty, but at the same time it was rather sad. Didn't he know his master was dead? Would he continue to stay at his side until the man had become bones? Was that the fate of his own crew of pets if he were to fall? No, no! He wouldn't allow that!

"I will talk to Chandra, make him promise to take care of them if anything ever happens to me." He muttered to himself, not wanting to think about it even for a moment, that his pets might come to sit next to his body, or wherever he was buried, and just wait to die as well. A thought that struck him hard and made him look in that direction again, "Wait... you don't think that is what he's going to do? Just sit there and die waiting for his master to get back up?" He asked of Flower, the thought of it making his eyes go wide with shock. Turning to glance at the sprite he watched him give a shrug before turning back once more. The creature, janarim he thought they were called, would it really die without the man?

Closing his eyes he tried to recall what they looked like during the battle, the way that they carried their riders in, allowing the man to attack from their backs while biting and clawing at the same time. The ones from the battle, didn't they seem bigger somehow? More muscular, not to mention thicker and heavier, like dealing with a scaly wall of claws and scales. That one back there, he had seemed less so, smaller, skinnier, was he already suffering the ill effects of him staying at the man's side? Was he not bothering to even eat or drink? Surely that couldn't be good for him. A part of him, the smart part that was into self preservation said that it was a lost cause and that Aysun should head back before anyone realized he was really missing. The rest of him wasn't feeling it though, leaving the creature behind knowing that it was just going to die wasn't something that he could do.

"Alright... how to proceed? Think Aysun, think..." He knew what was most important, that being food and water, he had to get that to the janarim in the most careful way possible so maybe dropping things to him? Reaching over for his pack he dragged it closer, digging around in it to see what he had, before taking out a handful of the rations, "Alright, this and... we need a globe of water. I don't think it's cold enough to freeze them." He murmured, moving through the three branches, looking for one such globe, and upon finding it plucked it off the tree. With that tucked under his arm and the rations tucked into his pocket he made his way through the branches of the trees toward the tilted one where the janarim and his master were waiting, knowing he had to stay up high so that he wouldn't be in striking range. Last thing he wanted was to have those teeth sink into his meaty bits... the janarim might decided he was tasty and finish him off.

Once he was above the creature, instantly alerting it, and caused it to charged forward so that it could pace and snarl up at him, he sat down, "I see you too." He told the creature, setting the globe on his lap, then reached into his pocket and got out the dried meat, "This is aldabuk I think. Have you tried those before? I am not one for eating intelligent animals, so I wouldn't eat anything like you, but aldabuk are a bit different in that regard. So long as I don't have to deal with the process it's something I can eat." He explained, getting a snarl in reply to what he was saying.

Lifting one piece up he took a bite from it, chewing slowly, before letting the bigger piece fall to the ground in front of the big, scaly beast. It made a bit of a sound as it landed and the janarim lunged at it, snarling, as though the piece of dried meat was a threat. After a moment he lowered its head, sniffing at it, then snapped it up. It made a couple of quick chomping motions, showing he was hungry enough that he'd just chewed enough to get it to the back of his throat before swallowing. Aysun gave a sigh, "Good, though that isn't going to cut it, is it? You're a little on the big side." Even if he gave him all of the rations he had with him he didn't know if it would cut it. Perhaps he could get food from Neued? Get food there, bring it back here, share it, repeat. How long it might take though, that was the question.

He digging into his pocket he got out another piece, taking a bite, then like last time dropped it... only this time it didn't have the chance to hit the ground, instead being caught into the dark pit that was the creature's mouth. The piece was chewed on furiously, the creature snarling as he did so, before swallowing. Between bites he would return to his master though, checking on him, before coming back to given Aysun a death glare. He wanted to protect his master, wanted to chase Aysun off, but likely also wanted what Aysun was offering. It was probably very confusing Aysun thought to himself as he said, "You must know he's not going to get back up, right? You must be able to sense that." He picked up the the globe of water then, tilting it ever so slightly, letting it fall int a slow trickle that the creature snapped up. Once the thing was empty and set aside he couldn't help but wonder how much the janarim actually drank and how much he just sprayed around in his haste. Aysun couldn't say, but at least he was drinking something. Better then nothing and he couldn't really say if the creature would wander far enough from his master to get a real drink. He wasn't bothering with food after all so he might not be bothering with much water either.

"You're going to make yourself easy prey for something big or dangerous, something like the Menzuri." He told the creature, but only got a rumbling growl in reply. He wasn't listening yet, meaning he'd need to bring him more food. Digging out the last of the rations he brought with him dropped them to the janarim, allowing him to eat them, before he got to his feet, "I am going to see if I can't get more supplies from Neued. I... am guessing you will be here? Consider getting some rest or even hunting or something." He didn't know if he would, probably not since the master was so important to him, but he could at least suggest it, right? He gave the pacing janarim one last glance before heading on his way, first to wear his pack was, and then to Neued. He wasn't sure how he'd go about getting the supplies, he didn't have a lot in the way of coin, but he'd think of something.

Part Four: A Real Meal

Giving a sighing sound Aysun found himself once more sitting on the branch above where the janarim was staying, starring down at the glaring creature for a long moment, then gave him a smile, "I missed you too." He said to him, shrugging out of the pack he carried on his shoulders, digging into it, "I hope that you appreciate this. I went to Neued, just like I said I would, to get some supplies for you, to feed you since you won't feed yourself, and found myself put to work! Can you believe? Eh, I guess I can. Their rebuilding their still so it's not like they were going to just give the supplies away to any random passerby." He said, digging into his pack, taking out a thick, leaf wrapped package, setting it on his lap so he could work on unwrapping it. The scent that came off of what was inside caught the full attention of the janarim whose expression was, for a split second, something other then dirty looks. Aysun smiled, then picked up a piece of the meat, "More aldabuk, raw this time, so you should be happy. Their hunters just brought it back recently. You know, you could do that too, hunt I mean. I understand you want to protect what is left of your rider, he seems like he was important to you, but you also need to eat."

The piece of red, raw meat up, still dripping, was held out passed where Aysun was sitting so that the janarim could see it. He waved it from side to side, watching the manner in which the beast's eyes locked onto it, before he let it fall. For this particular piece of meat the janarim actually pushed off the ground so it was on its hind legs, grabbing it out of the air. The janarim snapped his jaws closed on it, shook it hard as though to ensure it was in fact dead, before he swallowed the big hunk of meat with minimal chewing. With it gone the janarim set to licking off his maw, before his eyes went back to Aysun and starred at him in a hard, demanding manner. It was obvious that he knew the boy up there had more food and he wanted it. Now.

"Oh, I see how it is. You like me so long as I have food, huh? Can't say I am too surprised though, from what I gather the way to any male's heart is through his stomach. It seems it applies to beasts as well as Earthlings." He told the creature, climbing down to the next branch down, something that earned him a growl, before sitting down again, "None of that now, you want this right?" He held out another piece of the meat the threatening growls seemed to die down. The warning glare was still present, Aysun had gotten far too close to the Oban once already after all, but the janarim was hungry enough that he'd allow it. Giving a smile Aysun dropped the next piece of meat, which was devoured a bit slower then the last few things he'd fed the massive beast. Maybe its hunger pangs were easing, allowing it to actually taste and enjoy its food? Of course that brought on it pinning the meat to the ground so it could tear chunks off to eat in a rather messy manner but he couldn't complain, the beast was eating.

Sighing Aysun told him, "You know this isn't the perfect solution, right? I can't very well come by everyone few days to feed you." He tilted his head to one side, a thoughtful look appearing on his face, then he said, "Alright, maybe I could I can't say I am a busy man or that the world relies on me, but I can't see my family members approving of such a thing. You know if you just came with me then I could feed you often." It would be easier when it came to feeding the janarim, though still something his family was unlikely to approve of. He was sure the only way that he could upset them more then bringing a monster home was to marry an Oban, not that he'd push his luck that far. He'd stick to gathering his 'animal army' instead, romance not something that really appealed to him at the present.

Wrapping the rest of the meat up in the leaves once more, tucking it into his pack he said, "I am going to get you some water, I will be back shortly." He told the janarim, smiling down at him before he headed off to do just that. The meat was all well and good, it would help to strengthen the creature, but water was likely the most important thing. A shame his Uncle Takoda wasn't here, he could summon the water and float it in front of the janarim. Since that wasn't a possibility, not with him so far off, he knew he'd need to do it himself. It was a lot of work, getting the globes of water back and forth without spilling or dropping them, but it would be worth it.

Part Five: Coming Around. A Bit.

The journey to Neued, finding where the janarim was staying, feeding it, working in Neued for supplies, then returning, that last thing done a couple times, and here he was already having used up more time then he'd thought that he would need. The question now because would his uncles start to question him being away for this long, especially given that he'd left all of his pets at their place save for Flower who was with him now. As he went about gathering more of the water globes he found himself looking up through the trees, at what little light was peeking through, and tried to figure out what time it might be exactly. He was a little on the tired side so he couldn't really say that he knew, which would only make this a bit more difficult. If he was gone for too much longer then someone was bound to want to come looking for him, only to realize that he was no where in Yera at a 'friend's house' as he said he'd be. There would be at least one person ready to strangle the life out of him, that being his mother, but he wouldn't write off his father, Uncle Jacin, or even Chandra from wanting to join in.

Sighing a bit he shook his head, "I'll worry about that later." He told himself, reaching for another of the globes... when he heard a loud sound that was a mix between a howl and a roar, something that caused him to nearly drop all of the globes he was holding as he whirled around. What in the world...? Was that the janarim? The moment that thought came to mind it was echoed by what sounded like a scream, that of a person, and he was quick the drop the water globes he was carrying, racing back in the direction that he'd come from. What had happened? What was going on? His mind was racing as he raced along, doing his best not to trip as he went.

As he came out onto the branch he'd been perched on the passed few days he found the janarim stalking toward a girl about his age, Shifter from the looks of her, who'd stumbled across the creature's deceased master. His eyes jerked to where the man's body lay, looking as though it had been disturbed, maybe the girl checking if he were alive by touch? He then looked back again, watching the creature as it started toward her, teeth barred, awful, angry sounds escaping from the creature, "Oh... no, no..." He murmured, fearing for both the girl and the beast, certain that the janarim would be slaughter for sure if he hurt her. Jumping down along the tree branches he landed on the forest floor and raced forward, "Janarim, no! You have to stop!" He called out, lunging when he got close enough to catching hold of one of the big beast's curled horns, hanging off of it, using his weight to drag the creature's head down a bit. This close to the creature he was almost certain that the only reason that he had been able to drag its head down at all was likely because he was a little on the weaker side due to not eating until recently. Were he at full strength he doubted very highly that he'd be able to do so.

Turning to look at the girl as he held fast to the janarim's horn he said, "Get out of here!" He ordered her, swinging his feet up to push them against the tree in front of the janarim, slowing his forward progression for a moment as the girl raced off away from the area. Even in his weakened state though the janarim allowed himself to be impeeded for only so long before he was going after the girl, dragging Aysun along with him, knocking him against rocks, roots, and the sides of trees as they went. All the while Aysun did his best to continue to hang out, shouting at the janarim all the while, "You have to stop! You're only going to get yourself in trouble! Don't you understand? People aren't going to look at your situation first, they are going to just think about how you're from Oban and trying to eat a Shifter girl!" They would be of the shoot first, ask questions later attitude.

The janarim started to slow, whether because it was getting winded, took far from his master, or just because of Aysun's words it was impossible to say. Once halted though it did turned to look at Aysun who was able to hang off its shoulder for a moment more before dropping to the ground, unsteady on his feet before he sank down to one knee, "Eesh... ow... you really are a pain the backside, you know that right?" He muttered, lifting a hand to qipe blood away from a cut over his eye that was causing his vision to get obscured. Looking up at him with his good eye he said, "You really need to stop, to realize that he's gone. You're going to get yourself killed one way or the other if you keep it up." Not something he wanted to see but he knew the janarim was running on borrowed time now that he'd gone after that girl. She was sure to run home, tell people about the 'monster in the forest' and people would come to deal with him.

"We should go, before she gets back with others." Aysun told him, pushing himself up to his feet, wobbled then tipped over, "In just a moment though, you sort of knocked me around a good bit." He felt a bit woozy.

The janarim was starring down at him, eyes narrowed, teeth barred, growling at him... but after a moment he went from growling to just starring, from starring to sniffing at him, then it were as though the creature realized he was in rough shape. Despite how very different this one looked from his rider the janarim seemed to draw similarities and he found himself soften ever so slightly to the silver haired boy. Leaning in it caught hold of him by shirt he wore, lifting him up off the ground, and tossed Aysun over his back in a manner similar to what he'd done many times before with his rider in the past before heading back toward where he'd left his master's body and where Aysun had left his things.

Part Six: An End and a New Beginning

When he finally woke up some time later Aysun was feeling all over achy and a bit groggy, along with that crusty feeling that went along with leaving blood to dry on the skin and in the hair. He gave a bit of a grumbling sound as he lifted his hands, inspecting each area that felt bad, mostly bumps and bruises, but there were a few scrapes and cuts as well. Nothing too bad though, he'd seen far worse during the war after all. Given the wounds were his fault given he wouldn't let go of the janarim's horn he couldn't really complain. Not that he didn't want to hobble his way back to his Uncle Takoda for a nice healing session, sure it would make him feel much better.

Looking around he found himself jolting to feet when he realized he was far too close to the janarim's deceased rider. Giving shake of his head he muttered to himself, "That's unsettling." He said to himself, looking around for the janarim. It took him but a moment to find him, curled up a short distance away from Aysun and the Oban man's body. He gave a sighing sound, rubbing at the dried blood on his face before he looked up once more, giving a bit of a sigh as he realized there wasn't a whole lot of light coming through. It meant that he was out of time. His family was sure to realize that he was gone by now meaning that he was going to have to get going back to Yera. Not only did he need to get back just because he was out of time but because he was hurting, going to Uncle Takoda was the only thing that he could do at this point.

"Hey, you." He said, taking a step toward the janarim, something that earned him a rumbling growl since getting closer to the janarim also got him closer to the fallen rider. Aysun paused, then sighed, "I know, I know... how about you listen for a moment you grump. I need to leave now, to go back to my uncles' place in Yera. I'm not sure when I will be able to come back here so... you know, you can always come with me." He watched the janarim as it turned to look at him for a moment before looking away again, giving a huffing sound. It was obvious that he wasn't interested, something that worried Aysun.

Sighing again he said, "You really should at least consider moving on, you're going to end up in a lot of trouble if that girl comes back with reinforcements." He told him, climbing up into the tree, finding where his pack was still sitting along with Flower who was guarding it. The moment that the little sprite saw him he flew forward, made a few rapid circles around him, before he set to scolding him in an angry tone. Aysun laughed, "What? Am I not looking pretty enough for you, Flower?" A comment that got his hair a bit of a hard tug in response. Flower wasn't having it Aysun realized before he reached down to scoop up his pack, "Come on, we are going to head back. Hopefully he will see about moving off soon. Staying here isn't going to work out for him."

Aysun made his way down to the ground with his pack over one shoulder, pausing when he got there. He set his pack down, digging out the leaf wrapped meat, and he set it down next to the janarim, "Here, this is the last bit of the raw aldabuk meat. You should eat this then head off, maybe deeper into the forest, if you get deep enough in nobody will bother you." He said, giving the janarim a final smile before he started away from him. He continued to look back from time to time, just to give him some more chances to come along, before sighing. Soon enough he was out of sight and Aysun was feeling a bit bad, not caring for the fact that he hadn't been able to get him to come along.

Once Aysun had left the janarim got up, moving to where the meat was waiting for him, gulping it down before lifting his head to stare in the direction that the silver haired boy had gone. He glanced toward his still rider, back to the direction Aysun had gone, and back again. The big beast gave a huffing sound before walking over to flopping down in front of him, resting his head on the still man's lap. He was laying there for a time, just watching the dark skinned man before him, before giving a whining sound. The scent of death, dried blood, and the beginning scent of decay was all over the man meaning that he wasn't going to be getting back up. It was something that had the janarim whining a bit more, his voice pain.

After a time the creature dragged himself to his feet, snuggling against the still man's hair before turning and set to work digging. Once he'd dug himself a deep enough hole he then went to where his rider was sitting, catching hold of him by the shirt, dragging him carefully into the hole, and after giving him a last glance set to filling the hole in. Only after the man had been safely buried did he turn on his heel and raced along after Aysun, tracking him by his scent. Leaving behind his rider, the man he'd known since he was just a little whelp wasn't easy for the janarim but he seemed to see the potential in Aysun. He offered food and water, stopped him from doing anything stupid, stayed with him, chatted with him. Aysun was his only chance for another possible friend and he seemed that he was going to take it.
