She awoke in darkness, and very much sore and in pain. Her head ached in the sort that if felt on the verge of sickness. Or perhaps it was mixed with all the pain she felt among her body.

Hhe lieutenant that had managed to snag her had not been kind, but as those were probably his orders, she didn't think much of it. She never hated the negaverse regardless of their evil plots....

She tried to move a limb, her arms mainly and was a little distressed to find them bound behind her back and chained to the floor. She didn't have a gag or she would've rolled her eyes from the cliched kidnapping scene this felt like.

Instead she took stock of the room, if there was any exits, and realized that it was oddly bright and colorful. like a carnival room. Ponies and mirrors were mounted on the walls, and the more she stared, the more she realized they were extra equipment for a carasouel of some sort.

Wobbling to her feet, she attempted any sort of call to her homeworld and again found that empty draining feeling.

"Well." She settled down again, bending her legs and placing them under her rear, and sat as straight as possible. "I suppose no one here would offer a lady a cup of tea would they?" to whom she was calling? she didn't even know....

"I cannot," said a quiet voice from the doorway. "I am sorry."

It had taken Aurostibite some time to discern Mintaka's whereabouts within the funhouse; and even then, he had not wanted her to be there, had hoped beyond hope that he'd just imagined seeing her earlier and that she was actually safe elsewhere, far away from the chaos that had occurred at the New Year's Ball.

But then he'd been drawn to one of the rooms down a distant hallway somewhere in the middle of the house, and there had been no mistaking that head of pale hair, the gentleness on a painfully familiar face that made his heart ache with longing.

Aurostibite stepped silently into the room now, his face as impassive as always. There was a small movement behind him; a guard had followed him in as well and now stood watching haughtily, eyes cold and empty, and Aurostibite merely gave him a small nod before turning back to Mintaka.

She was kneeling on the floor with her arms bound, and it made him irrationally angry. Her skin was fair; there would be bruises from the cuffs tomorrow. He wanted to take her wrist and smooth away the angry red patches on her skin with his fingers.

Instead, he merely moved closer and carefully eased himself down to the floor so that he was sitting in front of her, cross-legged. Aurostibite lifted a hand and carefully removed his hat, settling it into his lap. His gaze did not waver from hers.

"How are you feeling?" he asked her softly. His tone was as flat as ever, but his eyes were begging her not to say anything too revealing; a warning against the guard at the door. "I have some questions to ask you."

The voice echoed hollowly in the room and into her heart. She tried to stop the shaking. Relief? Was he here to help? She breathed out, watching him with hopeful gaze. It disappeared when the other agent joined them.

She watched them carefully, every movement. There was a small shift of her hands, but only for them to clasp together. As she couldn't reach out and touch him, there was no reason to try.

"Good evening Lieutenant." She replied crisply, and calmly. If he was here, it was to tell her of something. She could only hope that was true. She could only hope and believe in the love she felt.

"As well as one would hope after a struggle and being captured." She didn't mean to be so stern with him, but if she didn't sound upset, by his gaze that he was sending, then there was no point in them talking. "I still don't understand why I am here, and what is going on?" She looked to the guard. "Why did....the negaverse capture me?"

He did not want to see her - at least, not like this, not here, where she was bound and held hostage. This was not how Aurostibite had wished for their next meeting to go, and now it felt horribly jarring, as though he had made a mistake somewhere along the road.

Maybe he had. But he did not believe in regrets, only moving forward.

Aurostibite slid a hand through his dark curls and regarded Mintaka carefully. He wished that the guard at the door was not there, that it was just the two of them so that they could talk freely without having to be concerned about being overheard.

But the presence of the guard was also a cold reminder of what could be and what could not.

"I will not harm you," said Aurostibite quietly. "I merely wish to ask you a few questions. Your presence as a senshi holds meaning to us, and we wish to see if you hold knowledge that is necessary to our goals."

If it sounded rehearsed, it was because it was; he'd practice the words inside of his head while searching for her, and now they came easily, simply; a script from a sheet of paper from the thoughts in Aurostibite's mind.

"I see." She sighed, "I suppose I should thank you, the last lieutenant, the one who captured me was not as kind." She shifted in pain, as Jet's kicks were still resounding within her body.

"I will answer truthfully." She assured Aurostibite, then too the guard, "If you will not hurt me, then I will answer as such."

She blinked.

"What are you wondering about Lieutenant? What could I possibly offer?"

What could she offer?

Aurostibite didn't know how to answer that question. She could offer him more than he'd ever be able to say, more than he'd ever be able to truly know - and yet, he couldn't quite bring himself to figure that all out. Perhaps it was because he was scared to know the answer, or perhaps it was because somewhere deep in his heart, he already did.

Instead, he just asked quietly, "What is your current purpose in the Order? Do you have a specific goal to work towards currently?"

"My purpose?" She blinked, looked over at the guard and back to Auro. "Well I suppose I have none really. I have no team, or guardian cat to guide me. I've been alone since I started this life. In that time, I've focused on harboring trust and peace between the negaverse and senshi like myself. I've talked to many of your lieutenants, captains and even a general-King." Her eyes widened. "Oh, perhaps you can call him for me. General King Zinkenite! We've talked and shared a peaceful meeting, and-" she looked to the guard again, her voice a little hysterical.

"Does he know about this coop? I know he is not a senshi sympathizer but he is fair and just and I want to know if he knows that senshi are gathered here?" Her gaze turned to Auro.

"I just want peace. I don't want to fight." With Auro there, it was a good chance that Mintaka wouldn't ever feel the need too.

He listened quietly, wondering whether or not her answer was truthful - and then inwardly berated himself, because Mintaka had always been nothing but entirely honest with him from the start, even before they'd had the strange, shared memory experience.

"Peace is something that cannot be achieved unless both sides wish for it, I'm afraid," said Aurostibite quietly, in a tone that was slightly pained. There was no denying that neither the Negaverse, nor the Senshi, regardless of their goals, had members of their faction that did not wish for said peace. It made things just that more difficult.

His head lifted a little, a flicker of surprise passing across Aurostibite's face.

"Yes, I know the General-King," he said, absently sliding a hand over his jaw. "He was the one who recruited me in the first place; I hold nothing but the highest loyalty for such a man. He is a very reliable, and respectable person that I truly endeavor to be more like."

And all of that was true as well; other than Mintaka, towards whom Aurostibite held such complicated feelings, Zinkenite was the one person that he felt the most secure in his attentions towards, because Zinkenite had been the one to find him in the first place.

"General-King Zinkenite is a good and fair man," said Aurostibite softly. "It is good that you know of him."

Mintaka's nod was slow.

"It is still a ideal I want to come to fruition. As such, the only time I have raised myself in a battle is to defend an innocent." She thought of the man who had been trying to come to her rescue when Jet had knocked her out. A lot of luck she did there. "not even for myself." She whispered and winced that there was still a reminder of Jet's damage to her.

"You do?" Her eyes lit up and she nodded, "Was he really? That's Fantastic! I knew you were a good man when-" She asked as if she knew Aurostibite and reminded herself, while berating herself, that they were pretending not to know of each other. It was quite hard for her to do. Instead she sat a bit straighter.

"It is. Do you think I can speak with him?" She asked again, "Is he in the position....to be negotiated with for the release of prisoners?" She asked, mainly assuming there was more then just herself. "Is there any way of freeing myself or the other order units here?"

He wondered if she was being optimistic, naive, or simply hoping for the best in a situation that would most likely never come to what they wanted. Mintaka's desire for peace was a noble cause indeed, and Aurostibite could not fault her for that desire - but he himself had to strive to maintain a realistic view of the future.

He wished he could hold her, and then forcefully had to reprimand himself, because there was still a guard, he was still Lieutenant Aurostibite, and she was still Eternal Sailor Mintaka.

Things were not so easily changed.

There was almost a hint of a smile on Aurostibite's face as he looked at her; his back was to the guard, which meant that his expression was not visible, and he could allow himself the small pleasure of showing her a side to him that was seen by no one else.

"I am...not sure," said Aurostibite hesitantly. "I have not seen him for...for quite some time, but I believe he would be up for negotiating."

His expression softened a little. "I am not going to hurt you, nor am I in the practice of hurting our other...captives...I only wish to ask a few questions of those that are here."

Unfortunately, he could not say the same about his other fellow agents.

She wished in that moment, that she could crawl over to him and just rest her head on his shoulder. Even fantasized that he would stroke her hair, tell her its okay. Tell her he had a plan and that he would help her.

A naive and almost childish hope and fantasy.

She blinked her eyes, even took the smile for what it was. he didn't enjoy her being here but, he enjoyed talking with her. It was....normal. Something normal.

"Oh..." She sighed, clasping her hands. "He's the only higher up I know, and I can't give you the names I've spoken with before." She turned her head to the guard who sneered at her.

"That's good to know Lieutenant Aurostibite? I've suffered I think enough damage thus far." She switched her legs, making herself comfortable. "I will answer truthfully, I have nothing to hide. How can I help you?"

He had wishes of similar thoughts, but was unable to act on any of them, and was not sure if it was wise to even want them in the first place. Mintaka being here was just another reminder of how different they were in their statuses; how far away they truly were.

An ache was deep in his chest. Aurostibite let out a gust of air that was almost a sigh.

"I have met many generals," he said truthfully, because sometimes it seemed that was all he met. His words were chosen carefully, Aurostibite not wanting to sound as though he was planning on staging a coup anytime soon. "Zinkenite has been fair and just in his decisions. He is a worthwhile man."

He had no questions for her that could be answered in front of a guard. Aurostibite watched her for a moment, and then he leaned forward. Under the pretense of double checking Mintaka's chains, he turned his head and pressed his lips, very lightly, against the side of her face; hardly a brush, barely even able to be felt, and so brief that it was like a butterfly's wings against a flower.

When he leaned back, his face was as impassive as ever.

"I will bring you some water, said Aurostibite quietly. "You may rest here until I am able to get more questions."
