After her election to Weyrleader, O'ail has ordered her Wingleaders - including her newly promoted head of 3-1, L'ssa of bronze Caldweth - to reconsider their Wingseconds with a particular view to getting more women into the roles. As the former Wingleader of First, S'kagi of bronze Coriath, has suffered an unfortunate accident which has made him unable to meet his duties, she has also promoted her former wingsecond I'ne of bronze Aphlektoth to his role.
As a result, what we're asking you is to put your characters forwards to be considered as Wingseconds, an important stepping stone on the path to assuming more important roles in the Weyr. Each wing has two wingseconds, under the command of their Wingleader. These are riders over the age of twenty-two who are being groomed to take on more important roles someday, and in the meantime act essentially as Wingleaders in miniature. If their Wingleader falls in battle or threadfall, they'll be expected to step up immediately as their second-in-command. They're also frequently responsible for handing out punishments, assisting in training, and planning practical jokes on other wings, though their exact duties will vary from wing to wing. For example, First Wing's Wingseconds are generally fairly military types while Four-One and Four-Two's tend to be more focused on the high-level organisation needed to keep all of the balls that their Wingleader is juggling in the air. One month they might be running a refugee camp, the next organising firebreaks and flood defences.

Character Name: A'ri of Bronze Raynoth - Profile Wing: Fourth-Two Why is your character suited for this role?:
Why am I suited to this role? Well, I've been with this wing for nearly ten years, to start. I love the work we do, there's a certain sense of adventure when you're in demand along the coast after a storm then called away to excavate a collapsed mine the next day all the while keeping things running in both camps against an unknown count down. It's thrilling. In terms of ability, I'd say nine years of experience doing everything from Attache Programs to smarm up the Holders to building multiple fire breaks a few years back. I've also grown up during the Plague, I know enough to help combat disease and injury in disaster zones and my dear Raynoth's a bloody workhorse – just check our performance record! I'm sure J'ian will verify our excellent work record.Outside of work, I like to keep morale high and to keep active too. Training Raynoth with lifts and sparring with him – or anybody – really, keeps us sharp and on point.Perhaps the biggest point? I work with what I've got when addressing situations, I can get things done in the face of adversity that others can't. It's save my own hide more than once, that's for sure!

Character Name: [Til`lene of Brown Pelgalath] Wing: 3-1 Why is your character suited for this role?: Til'lene hopes that what is said does not reflect poorly on her. Pelgalath had made up his mind to speak, and there was no way he would budge. On a blank sheet of parchment, Til'lene decided to dictate a message directly from her dragon. It reads as follows:
Pick Til'lene for wingsecond. She is well-suited for such a position, as she cares about her work, and she won't take any lip. Not only that, but it's about damn time.
