Vollerei left a sleeping Neska behind guarded by Zweil, her kinfa, to go hunting just before dawn. She’d seen tracks of Radaku the night before as they’d been setting up came and was determined to hunt one or two down for food. While she could have just ate the food that she and Neska had brought with them, Vollerei wanted to save that for when she couldn’t go hunting… Though leaving her daughter behind in the jungle wasn’t the smartest thing to do, Zweil was quite protective and large enough to carry the small child should anything try to attack. If, she smiled at the thought, he didn’t try to kill and eat whatever attacked first! He was very much a glutton like his ‘momma’ Vollerei.

Hence why she was out hunting once more, trying to get enough food to last them for more than just one day!
She stopped and looked at the ground, a smile appearing on her face as she spotted more recent tracks of a pair of Radaku. Even better, she thought to herself, these are far more recent and closer than the tracks I saw earlier! Which means less time spent away from her child! It really was agonizing knowing that Neska was alone except for Zweil in the jungle. She was safe… but Vollerei was still anxious to return. With this thought she set off, following the tracks silently, creeping through the thick undergrowth of the jungle.

All around her the jungle went about its daily life, the light barely reaching down here to illuminate small patches of crystals that glittered in the filtered light, barely illuminating the tracks. Vollerei relied upon her eyes for the tracks, but her antenna were focused on her surroundings; trying to sense movement of possible prey or predators before they could sense her!

She relaxed when she heard the Radaku’s nearby; she’d found food without being hunterd herself! Though, she grinned, anything hunting her was in for a fight and would end up in her pot!

She slunk along the ground, moving sliently and slowly with her spear held ready. Beyond her was a young radaku lounging about and an older one lay nearby cleaning itself. They both looked young, neither fully grown but still large enough to make a good meal. She wondered breifly if she should try to capture one… She’d seen quite a few Radaku companionsowned by her Sisters; they made good gaurds! But then she shook her head and threw out the idea for now. Right now I need food and I am traveling to tame a Kinfa… I doubt a newly captured radaku will be easy to deal with, especially with Snack and Neska’s Mimi there! It’d eat it and then Neska would be very upset. No, better to leave the taming for a later date… maybe when I’m out here alone or with just Niabi, she thought with a smirk as she readied to pounce. I could use it as an excuse to go traveling more with her! And that, she thought, was something she would have to do!

Vollerei sprang from the thick undergrowth, silently striking the larger radaku. It gace a periceing scream and thrashed about as the spear entered it’s side. It’s smaller younger borhter ipped and bolted away when the large alkidike suddenly appeared. Vollerei put a foot on the Radaku’s head to keep it on the ground as she pulled hr spear out and stabbed it again to kill it and end its pain. She looked off aftr the other radaku and shurgged. Not much she could do to catch that one! Should have brought Niabi with me, her bow would hae been handy, she thought. But then I’d have been more distracted! She grinned as she bent to dress the animal and clean her spear.

Now I get to show her and Neska how to cook radaku! I think I’ll do a spicy sauce this time; she thought as she began to plan her dinner. The nice thing she had found, wa with a larger Zweil, they could pack more gear! Like pots! And her tiny precious sice chest! Which, she frowned, needed refilling. I will have to go and visit a town. She slung the carcass over her shoulder and scaled the nearest tree. With this tasty smelling meat, there was no way she would walk along the dangerous predator rich ground! Better to take the longer tree route. Ad grab some fresh fruits! She grinned as she spotted a fig tree nearby. Hopping over she grabbed several handfuls before trootting off. Dinner had been gotten!
