Kiyelt set off on his journey, his sailscales flying high above for the best view possible. Kiyelt walked slowly making sure to mark his trail carefully with colorful bits of cloth which he would pick up on his way back. He felt good, well rested and more care free then he had for a while. War was a stressful thing and it felt so good to just let that stress melt off of him. He listened to the wind howl and sing imagining he could understand the notes. It was early morning and the sun soon caressed his skin not yet the slap felt at full midday. The perzi he was after should be returning to their den now, if he was correct in thinking they were mostly nocturnal. There was no guarantee about that, he hadn’t asked but he thought the idea logical in the light of their predominantly furless bodies. Iniu sailed back to him chirping happily. “You like it out here don’t you girl.” He scratched under her chin. She was such a sweet creature. She stayed for a while then started to get antsy so he gave her a boost into the air. She joined Norcrest in an aerial dance that was beautiful to behold, they used the wind and rose and fell and dove sometimes mirroring moves other times chasing each other in marry romps across the cloudless skies. It was heartening seeing so much blue, he wasn’t used to it, Zena was commonly overcast and one had a hard time seeing the sky through the thick canopy of Jauhar. Thoughts of the rainforest put a sour taste in his mouth so he returned to the present. They had just come to a small copse of heat loving plants, which he stopped to examine when the fluted calls of his sailscales brought his head up, they were coming back fast so he thought they must have seen their destination. He got a good look at the most interesting flower, a big purple one with a complicated set of stamens that twisted in the most appealing way. Then he made double time until he was in sight of the system of canyons and caves that the perzi of the area inhabited. The geological formation itself was beautiful he thought, rising out of the desert minimally but gouging deep, solid rock prevented the sand from swallowing it but just barely. It was a wonderful hideout and he was a little jealous that they had nicer digs then he did, he smirked. Now he tread carefully, on the lookout for any returning cats coming laterally or from behind. He called his sailscales in, something flying with no cover would easily arouse suspicions if the perzi were intelligent. Even if they were not he wasn’t sure exactly how big they were, they would either see his sailscales as prey or predators, neither of which was the optimal response. Soon he was at the entrance, his sailscales hanging off him as he slid into the beginning of the canyon. He winced as rocks tumbled down. A hiss in the distance let him know that somebody was home at least. His head swiveled to the side and a pair of gleaming yellow eyes glowed at him from a crevice, he pretended not to notice and continued forward. The perzi slinked out after him. It soon multiplied, and a third came at him from the front. They were pretty brave he thought, of course he was on their turf too. He sent his sailscales up and away from harm and unwound his whip, just in time too because one of the cats behind him pounced and he had to throw it off before it got a good grip on him. One cat detatched successfuly but the other two chose to pounce at once, he managed to keep his feet and smushed one against the wall, when he tried to do the same to the other it jumped down of its own violation. He used his whip to keep them back until he could form a better plan. He backed them into a system of caves some of which delved deep into the rock formation and others which were shallow hollows. He delt with one perzi there, backing himself into a corner and defeating it, then he took on the other two, the last of which he wrapped his whip around its legs. It was time to attempt a taming.

The perzi thrashed and hissed, and he didn't really blame the poor irrate cat. He had come to its home challenged it and its friends, trounced them and had now tied it up. "I'm really not here to take your home you don't have to worry about that, I just want to be friends ol' chum."
The cat glared at him with molten eyes. He had no doubt he would look like a pin cushion if the cat were to have its way. He got as close as he dared and wrapped a strip of cloth over its eyes, hopefully that would help calm the cat down. Thank goodness it was cooler down here then it was up top. Laying on the hot sand in the sun would more then likely burn the perzi so yet again Kiyelt was grateful for the canyon's protection. He stroked the cat, marveling at the jagged crystals imbedded in the hide. "We are not so different you and I." He murmered. "Although you lack some hair on your head." The cat hissed in reply, which Kiyelt thought was at least a start. It wasn't ignoring him completely after all. But no matter how long he sat there with the perzi it refused to give him any more hopeful signs so he peeled the cloth off its eyes. "I respect your decision, off you got then." Word Count: 231
