 Claws raked deep furrows in the earth with each stride. Hard, bulging muscles flexed and shifted, driving the massive male's long-legged stride. Dark by coat and dark by nature, the Captain was hated and feared in equal measure by all who had the misfortune to run across him.
And right now was perhaps the worst time to find yourself in his path. For the massive male was in a towering rage. His thrall had gone missing with his dinner and he had finally been forced to leave his den to search for her.
"Where are you, you little minx." He muttered, a sneer lifting the corner of his mouth as he scanned the ground where her pawprints became mingled with that of a larger set. Had they met or had the secondary lion simply passed by this way after Aoife had gone?

 Mbali was sitting beneath the tree, her tree really she was here everyday. Most of the time no one bothered, every once in awhile cubs would come up to her. Some of the more spirited ones, as she liked to think of it, would try to play tricks and pranks on her but for the most part while her sister was busy she was able to stay here and just be.
She had met a male just a few days ago and she still hadn't managed to get him out of her head. All she could think of was Luci, they hadn't crossed paths again since their first encounter but she hoped that he would come looking for her again. It wasn't like she could go looking for him.
Sighing she moved herself to a laying position and settled in for what was bound to be a long day, she wished she was able to do more, but this wasn't a pride you wanted to go wondering around when you couldn't see the rocky landscape wasn't a forgiving one, and the last things she wanted was to fall into the ocean. She could only manage short trips around.

Rounding the corner he spotted a pretty pale cream lioness resting under an old tree. Taking a moment to admire her he tried to remember seeing her before and thought that perhaps even he had, but he didn't recall her name. Well, he could ready that soon enough. She was pretty enough to stir him and he had never had a problem in enticing any pretty female that interested him into his den for a night.
Striding over he stared down at her, an irritated expression pulling his features tight. "Has a white lioness come this way?" He asked without preamble, his tone Gruff and certainly demanding, warneing against any back-talk and it was clear he was angry, though not as yet, at her.

Mbali jumped with the loud voice, she was so use to hearing the other lions walk her and ignore her that when she heard the heavy paws come towards her she had assumed that they would just keep going.
She turned her gaze upwards towards the male voice that had spoken to her, at least she assumed that it had been to her, as far as she could tell there was no one else in the area. "No I can't say that I have." she answered a slight bit of humour in her voice. A great deal of the pride knew her to be blind there had been a lot of gossip about it when she was younger, but clearly not everyone knew.
She turned her head away from again, assuming like many he would just continue on walking onward, paying her no attention at all.

Somethin about her pulled his attention from his missing thrall and he returned his gaze to her, one brow lifting. She was looking past him.... As if he wasn't there.
No. He corrected himself. As if she couldn't see him.
All thought of reprimanding Aoife took a back seat as he looked the lioness over again, a lazy smirk curling his lips. "My apologies.. I did not recognise you." Padding forwards he stood over her, gazing down. She was indeed a pretty thing, far more plesent to look at now than when she had been a useless bumbling cub.
"Mbali, isn't it? You won't remember me. I used to come visit when you were a cub," Of course that was a lie, but how would she know? "How are you doing these days? You look well."
She would certainly make a plesent distraction for an evening or two, if he could persuade her to follow him....

Mbali smiled politely in the direction of the male. She didn't recognize his voice so she was unsure who she was talking to although he seemed to speak to her with some sort of familiarity.
"No need to apologize" she told him as she shuffled up to a seated position it was difficult to conduct a conversation while laying it down it just felt so informal and the way that the male spoke to her she assumed that he was anything but informal.
"Yes my name is Mbali," she told him with a nod, "But I am afraid you have caught me at a disadvantage, I don't recall your name." it was possible she had met the male when she was younger but she had no idea if it was true but she wouldn't dare suggest that it wasn't.
"Was there something I could help you with?" she asked. It wasn't likely she would be able to do anything as well she couldn't see but she felt that she should still extend the offer.

His deep rumbling laugh filled the air. "Ahh pardon me. I am Ragnvard." She may very well recognise his name, not least because he was a Captain, but also it was well known his viking band was one of the more successful yet also one of the most brutal. Something he saw no shame in and in fact was proud of what he had accomplished.
Shaking out his impressive mane he regarded the slim little lioness for a long moment. "Not particularly, but the pleasure of your company would be very welcome. Why don't you walk with me a bit? We can catch up together. After all I have not seen you for a long time." His words were smooth and reassuring. After all he was not just a brute on the battlefield, but a very cunning and charismatic male.

Mbali swallowed a little harder than normal, she did know the males name, he was well known in the pride and not for being the most gentle of souls."Ah Ragnvard, I do apologize I should have known." She kept her tone gentle and light she didn't want the male to know that he made her uncomfortable.
When he asked her for a walk she stumbled a little, she had wanted to stay her and wait for Luci, but she didn't see a way to turn down the male without sounding rude, as a female, a freeborn and blind at that she was definitely lower on the totem poll compared to him and he could easily make her life much more difficult.
"Of course." she said raising to her feet, normally she would ask the one that she was walking with for permission to lean on them while they walked so she could more easily navigate the way they were going, however she didn't want to lean on Ragnvard so instead she opted to try and go it alone she would jsut have to listen very careful and walk slowly.
"So do tell me, have you been out on any viking trips lately?" she asked him thinking that he'd like to brag about his pillages like most reavers and captains did.

Her easy agreement made his grin widen. It shouldn't be too difficult to take her back and persuade her to stay with him. He wasn't about to treat her like he did his thrall, but he had always found it fairly easy to woo the ladies. He was big and strong, a renowned Captain and, so he had been told many times, very handsome with his dark mane and many scars. Satisfied everything was going his way he set off, walking slowly as she seemed to have trouble keeping up. But he kept his pace slow and even, wandering along so he didn't stress her out or push her to fast. He needed her to like him, after all.
"Of course. I rarely stay home for long. Though this last time was fairly tame. We came across a pack of hyenas, nasty, stinky things, and took their kill from them." Grinning at the memory of that fight he smirked to himself. "At least there are now seven less hyena polluting the land with their lives." Of course they hadn't eaten the canines... they had just slaughtered them and left them for the buzzards and other scavengers.
"I'm planning to go out again in a couple of days, once my Reavers are sober again. Its about time we caught a few more thralls." Nodding to himself at the thought of fresh new lionesses he glanced to the side and immediately went still, his whole body tensing. Having been walking along humming to himself with a kind of excited anticipation, seeing the tree empty had stopped him cold. Jogging the last few paces he had taken a moment to accept that she was not there. But then fury had rippled through him when he had caught the scent of a certain Captain near the tree. Battle rage and a cold dread fought within him in equal measure. Swiftly locating their trail he had set off at a determined lope, quickly coming up behind the pair. relief filled him upon seeing her unharmed, but rage, hot and potent, flooded him at the sight of Ragnvard.
The Captain was despicable. His thrall was more dead than alive and his abuse of the other thralls and even the freeborn of the pride was well known. Swallowing a murderous growl he walked slowly and with great effort, up to the pair, glancing at Mbali to make sure she was unharmed before nodding at Ragnvard.
Neatly slipping himself between them and against Mbali's side, he let a rumbling breath out that verged on a growl. "Thank you for keeping my wife company. That was very gracious of you Ragnvard." With smooth ease he angled his body away from the red male and gently guided Mbali away from him. "I'll see you later, we are late..." Turning his attention to Mbali and preying desperately she didn't question his sudden claim of husbandhood, he smiled tenderly at her, true emotion in his gaze. "Come, beloved... Mwanamke is already waiting." Of course she wasn't, but everyone knew of the lioness Lucivar and his band had recently rescued and so the excuse at least was legitimate.

Mbali did her best to listen to the male as he spoke. She was getting more and more uncomfortable as time went on, she wished for a way to get away but given her blindness she couldn't really see a successful way to do that. As it stood she was already tripping over everything but she refused to ask the male for help.
When he spoke of his savage ways out in the rogue lands Mbali found it hard to fight back the cringes, she understood that sometimes Reavers and Captains had to do less than savoury things out there, but she didn't really like thinking about it or imagining it. She preferred to be left in the dark so to speak.
As she was trying to find a polite way to excuse herself from the brutal captain she heard him. She wasn't sure at first but the foot steps approaching sounded like those of Luci. She held her breath for a moment trying to hear better. When she felt him come up beside her she felt all the tension leave her body and she melted into Luci's side.
When she heard him refer to her as his wife, she smiled. It was a bold lie but not one that Mbali was about to contradict. "Yes of course dear, I wouldn't want to leave her waiting." she said smoothly.
"Thank you for the stroll Ragnvard." Mbali said quietly, really she didn't want to bid him farewell at all but it seemed too rude not to, and she wasn't entirely sure she would be able to count on Luci to save her from him every time, they had just met after all, though he had just called her his wife in public that wasn't a lie he would be able to back out of easily. She wondered if the Luci realized this.
"Thank you" she whispered to him quietly as they began to walk away.

Anger prickled down Ragnvard's spine as the tan Captain wormed his way between Ragnvard and his prey. Upper lip curling back in a silent snarl as he stopped short, dark eyes narrowing on Lucivar.
"Of course... " He growled low, clearly furious that his intentions had been thwarted. Turning to Mbali he added. "Have a good day Mbali. Maybe we can talk again soon." The words sounded more like a threat than an invitation. Claws flexing for a moment he watched the pretty female being led away by the other Captain. Lucivar was always getting in the way of his plans. Not least because he was the one Ronan was reaver for. Snarling low he tossed his head and turns away. Stalking off down the path back towards his den alone.
It was a shame Mbali hadn't come with him, now he would just have to take his rage out on his thrall.
Tension vibrated along Lcuivar's frame, his muscles held tight and tense until Ragnvard was well out of view. Only when they were alone did he relax, and having Mbali close against his side with her lithe frame pressed against his own solid body, helped immensely. For he had no idea what he would have done if she had been hurt or frightened.
Finally letting out a relieved sigh he turned his head to nuzzle her, pressing his cheek against the soft fluff of her mane."I am sorry... I had no idea he was in the area. Are you alright?" His voice was gruff with suppressed emotion, clearly still unsettled by the experience of finding Mbali in the claws of the hated Ragnvard. He needed to do something... to come up with a way to keep her safe even when he wasn't around.
All of a sudden he paused, his step hitching briefly before he resumed guiding her. Glancing at her again he mulled the idea over a moment. "Mbali.... I think I have an idea..." nessiaing Think we can end here? I'll start the next one soon.
