For once, Kerberos was making an effort to be sober while he was out powered. Partially because he was actually assigned to work with someone tonight. He was meeting Sailor Cyllene, and he liked her, even though they'd only met briefly a few times. He was hoping that by being sober this time, he would be able to avoid digging himself a deeper hole than he was already sitting in.
He was waiting for her outside the DCU campus, since it was a pretty good landmark for both of them. It would be nice to see her again and just sort of...talk. Maybe unloading on someone actually in the Negaverse would make him feel better.
Or something.

When Cyllene was assigned to work with Kerberos, part of her was over the Moon with excitement. Some part of her, however, was terrified that she'd one day see Kerberos and he would be exactly as he was in those dreams that she kept having. Dark and hollow. Like a strange, terrible, mindless drone, zombie creepy thinger. And strange, terrible, mindless drone, zombie creepy thingers were not something that Cyllene was particularly fond of. She bit her lip as she peered around the corner of a building at Kerberos, who was waiting for her. Her nose wrinkled and lips twisted to the side slightly as she just sort of stared at him wide-eyed. Her fingers tapped on the brick as she watched him, and when she finally decided that he was not, in fact, a strange, terrible, mindless drone, zombie creepy thinger, she stepped around the building and approached him. "Kerbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy~" she called out to him and her walk easily shifted into a skip until she jumped and latched onto him- arms went around his neck and her legs around his waist and she hugged him so tightly she was sure his head would pop off. "You're not a strange, terrible, mindless drone, zombie creepy thinger!!" She said a little too loudly and gave him a big smooch on the cheek before releasing him. "Thank goodness!" She said with a huff. Obviously they were best friends forever.

Kerberos was not used to people being happy to see him. People were usually a lot more reserved or cautious, but apparently Cyllene did not know the meaning of either of those words, because she almost knocked him off his feet with her enthusiastic greeting, and he had to flail for a minute to rebalance himself. Still, he couldn't help but grin and wrap his arms around her in a tight hug.
"No, I am very, very definitely not," he said. He could only guess that she, too, had seen the future, had seen that awful world where he had ended up as a broken doll who was only a reflection of Metallia's whims. "I think you may be the only person more excited about that than me, wow, it's really good to see you again," he said, and then he gave into the urge to spin her around because that was this sort of excitement deserved.
"How have you been? Haven't made any life-changing decisions or anything have you?"

The blonde practically squealed in delight when Kerberos spun her around before dropping her to her feet. She beamed up at him happily and resisted the urge to grab his face and examine it for cracks. "It's good to see you too Kerby! I've been having these crazy weird dreams and you were like some sort of broken china doll and oh gosh I'm just so glad that it wasn't real, y'know? Every day I'm worried when I go out to patrol that I'm gonna come across bits of the Rift poking into the City or like, run into more Ascendeds. Which really wouldn't be so bad if they don't actually have this bizarre hive mind and want to take over the world on Metallia's behalf! It was just so crazy. My dreams seem so realistic and I have a hard time telling myself that it's not real life, and like, I practically had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming when I saw you like this! All normal 'n' junk." Okay. Forget resisting urges. Cyllene went on her tip-toes and grabbed at Kerberos' cheeks, pinching and pulling and poking where the awful cracks definitely were in her head every time she saw him. "Okay. Phew." Now that that was out of the way, they could move on to more pressing matters. Like life-changing decisions, apparently. Her eyebrows raised slightly as she stared up at him. "No... I mean, well, maybe? Like, I am definitely reconsidering this whole Negaverse being full of wonderful good people, thing lately. I think. I don't know. I feel a little bit out of place, I guess." Reaching up again, she poked his chest. "What about you, Mister? Life-changing decisions?" She peered up at him suspiciously.

Kerberos flinched a little. "Yeah, I had the same dreams, it was...it was really bad," he admitted. "Like, you think seeing them was weird, try being one. No peace. Ever. You're never one person, you're always one of four or six or however many are nearby - and there's the whole husk-of-Chaos-and-crazy thing. Zero out of ten, would not recommend." It was easier to make it a joke, sort of, when Cyllene was here and bubbly and bright - and pulling at his face, which he could only imagine was checking to make sure he still felt like a soft, squishy person and not a weird...cracked...doll...thing.
It was sort of reassuring to him, too, weirdly enough. Nightmares aside, Cyllene wasn't scared of him - and that helped, a lot. At least someone wasn't.
"I dunno how you see that kind of thing and don't start wondering," he said, and then he exhaled heavily. "You have to promise not to tell anyone, alright?" He held up his hand, pinky extended, because Cyllene felt like the pinky swear sort of person. "I've been talking to a Knight, named Hvergelmir. She's...she's been making me think. A lot. About this whole...Chaos...thing."

Cyllene glanced down at Kerberos' extended hand and then back up at him before reaching out and interlocking her pinky with his. Because she was absolutely, positively a pinky swear sort of person. "Not a word to a single soul! I'm the best secret keeper in the whole wide world, I swear!" The blonde listened to what Kerberos had to say, a slight frown settling upon her lips. "Are you..." She bit the inside of her cheek during her pause. "Are you gonna leave? I'd be really really sad if you did but I get it. I wouldn't blame you. I mean... I chose to be here. I was on their side and I chose the Negaverse instead and I dunno. Sometimes I wonder if that was the right choice. But you didn't choose this. You could be better for the both of eyes!" Her blue eyes lit up with hope and admiration. "You lose stuff though," she tapped her head, "Up here. Memories. Just make sure you think about it, 'kay? Don't regret your choice like I do."

Kerberos laughed a little. God, she had such a childish delight about the world - it was absolutely precious and definitely thoroughly heartwarming.
"I dunno yet," he admitted. "I've thought about it, a lot, but I'd be giving up so much...and I don't know if it's worth it." Giving up his memories and his life and the whole thing would be incredibly difficult. But getting away from the Negaverse...getting away from that terrible future forever... "Why did you leave? Why did you decide the Negaverse was the better choice?"
He had to know, because if he went there and it was worse, somehow...he didn't know what he'd do, then. Sure, Hver and Kairatos had made promises to help him, but there was no guarantee they'd follow through. He was afraid, there was no other word for it - afraid to even think about what purification might mean.

Cyllene thought very carefully about how to respond to Kerberos' question. But really, the answer was quite simple. "I was new and I was lost. I think that if I stuck it out and didn't give up on the people I was on a team with, I wouldn'a made the same choice. And I think... I mean, I don't really remember, but I think that I was doing drugs 'n' stuff before I'd power up. I remember being drunk when I first met Benitoite, so I mean I assume that I was doing it as whoever I was before all of this. I found joints in my pocket when I powered down after Zink corrupted me so I dunno, maybe I wasn't right in the noggin either back then." She shrugged her shoulders casually. "I'm the Senshi of Acid, I thought that meant that I needed to be a big awful meanie head. And I thought that coming to the Negaverse would give me that. And I mean, I guess it would. But let's be honest... I'm not like that at all. The White Moon is probably exactly where I belonged but I was dumb and confused." Spilling all of that to someone felt good- really, really good. While it scared the s**t out of her that it was a Negaverse Agent she told it all to-- someone that could turn around and report back to their superiors... She trusted Kerberos with what she said. And she hoped that it would maybe make his decision a little easier. Noir Songbird I'm sorry this took so long ;; We can probably wrap it soon!

Kerberos frowned a little. Loneliness, drinking, drugs - yeah, all of that sounded pretty familiar. He hadn't been as bad of an alcoholic when he was corrupted, but he had been angry and bitter and definitely...definitely lonely.
"Our spheres don't have to be what we are, yeah?" Kerberos said. "Asphodel - it means 'my regrets follow you to the grave.' It's death and sorrow and grieving and...it fit when I first started out, but that doesn't mean I have to be some walking sad monster or whatever. You don't have to be a scary badass just because you have a scary badass sphere." It sounded better in his head.
"You're a really, really sweet person, Cyllene - don't let Chaos do to you what it did to me." And he didn't just mean Ascending. All that violence and rage and bitterness and lashing out had ultimately gotten him nowhere but sad, drunk, and pathetic.Sylent Nyte WOW I HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED TODAY HERE YOU GO

"You're right," Cyllene replied simply. "About all of it," she added. Cyllene wrapped her arms around the other Corrupt Senshi in a tight hug before taking a step back, her hands holding onto his biceps as she looked up at him. "Just... If you do it, make sure you say goodbye before you go, ok? In case you forget me." The blonde offered the taller boy a sort of half-sad-smile before she finally released him. "Maybe I'll see you on the other side one day, and maybe we'll both be better and happy." She quickly shifted her smile into a grin, winked at Kerberos, and allowed her teleportation to pull her away from the spot in which she stood. Cyllene had a lot to think about.
