Kepler:
Skulking around parks seemed to be her favorite past time as of late. Yumi was, once again, not with her. Instead the feline was being spoiled by her mother and Kepler just huffed and shook her head. Whatever. The cat worked hard to give her all sorts of information, so she figured there was no harm in spoiling her a little. There would be hell to pay if Kepler got back and Yumi was cracked out on catnip though.

Jumping from the ground onto this one tree she liked to keep watch in, the Senshi of Words settled down and glanced around, violet eyes narrowing in suspicion. There was definitely Chaos energy around tonight, and she got that nervous pit in her stomach she got when she was going to end up fighting one of them. “Just what I needed,” she muttered to herself, pushing her bangs out of her face.

Actually thinking about it, it is what she needed. She’d been uneasy since Christmas and punching something would probably help a lot.

Kerb:
Kerberos was, for once, actually making an effort at being an officer. He had avoided draining energy or anything at all, but he also recognized that he was going to have to at least try eventually. The alternative was having a superior officer come down on his head, and that was...not a particularly appealing thought. He didn’t want to explain to a superior that he had been going out, drunk, and spending more time chatting with Order than doing his damn job.

So he’d waited outside a club, and when a particularly drunk, particularly alone young man stumbled out, he lured him into a nearby alley. With the extra hair that came from being a Corrupt, and the rather feminine nature of his fuku and tattoos, it was pretty easy to pass for a girl - and dark and alcohol did the rest.

His target was lying on the ground in front of him, and he had a shining ball of energy in his hands - and for a moment, he considered stealing the man’s starseed. But no - he could look Hver in the face after draining energy, because he needed to in order to survive. But murdering someone...he could never justify that to himself again.

Kepler:
There was a surge of energy near her and she took off without a second thought. That wasn’t a good thing. It never was. The pit in her stomach only grew larger with every leaping step she took. Following her instincts and the pull of energy brought her to the alleyway where something bright was shining in front of her.

With a wince, Kepler shielded her eyes, letting them adjust to the darkness around her. Finally lowering her arm, she could see just what laid before her. There was an internal struggle to not go pale or go to the yelling place. Instead the Senshi took a deep, calming breath and stepped forward, heels clacking loudly on the grimy cement beneath her feet. Hopefully she wore a steely expression on her face and not one of terror. This Corrupt Senshi had more energy than her, she could tell that much, and already she knew this fight was going to hurt.

“Drop that energy,” she called out. “Put it back where you got it and I might let you go without hurting you.” That was menacing, right? It honestly wasn’t in her nature to threaten, but you did what you had to do in order to protect the civilians.

Kerb:
Kerberos let out a tiny, irritated groan. He had been hoping to avoid a fight, running on the theory that a first-stage would be more likely to avoid a second-stage than engage, but no, here was this dumb senshi ready to pick a fight with him. And he was in no shape to fight, energy or no. He turned to face her, carefully tucking the energy into his sash, and put his hands on his hips.

“Look, I’ll level with you,” he said, “I really don’t want to do this but if I don’t some General is gonna kick my a** because I haven’t been doing my job. So maybe you turn around and leave and this doesn’t have to get messy?” Sure, it wasn’t exactly inspiring, or anything like that, but he had to try. “He’ll just take a nap and be fine, it’s not like he’s dead,”unless the dude was really unlucky, he supposed.

He considered, for a moment, telling her that he was a little drunk as if that might elicit some pity, except it would probably backfire. Everything backfired on him eventually.

Kepler:
That groan caught the Senshi by surprise and she hesitated before shaking her head. "No. No. I can't let you go just because you'd get your a** kicked. I could easily say the same thing about letting you go, so your excuse isn't validated." She stepped forward again, tensing up, hands curling into fists at her side. "But if you put the energy back in him, I'll let you go, like I said before."

She let her eyes narrow more the closer she got to him. "If you don't, I'm afraid you're going to get your a** kicked. Either way you're screwed."

...Was she making any sense at all?

Kerb:
“I just told you, I can’t, but the fact that you’re so damn blithe about the threat of a Negaverse General descending tells me you’ve never met one. They have swords.” Kerberos grit his teeth. “Fine. You want a fight? You’re gonna get a fight. And let me tell you something, sweetheart, you’re gonna regret this.”

His combat style hadn’t changed at all. His first resource was always his magic, even if it sort of skeeved him out to think of using it anymore. Right now, he was annoyed enough with her for it to seem like a really, really brilliant plan, even moreso than usual.

“Asphodel’s Regret!” He declared, calling on the more powerful version of his spell and blowing flower petals directly at the Senshi’s face.

Quote:
Sailor Kerberos cups his hands in front of his face and says the name of his attack, then blows. Asphodel petals fly out of his hands towards one target within eight feet of him. The target begins to feel a deeper, stronger regret, as well as a feeling of clinging hopelessness, though the apparent "reason" will vary from person to person, and may be something they wouldn't normally regret at all. The effect is the same no matter the target's rank. This effect lasts for 30 seconds. Sailor Kerberos can use this twice per battle.

Kepler:
She hadn't been expecting a magic attack right off the back. It honestly caused her to tense up when he said the name of his attack. In Kepler's mind it made no sense and then the magic struck her and her mind started thinking back to all the regrets and her the girl almost drooped under the weight of sadness and hopelessness that slowly swallowed her up.

Her fists unclenched, Kepler's face slacked and warped to something sad and on the verge of tears. She had so many regrets in her life, and they all focused around the fact she had to study all the time. She regretted having to miss out on having friends, on choosing to stay home to take care of her siblings. Normally these things wouldn't even bother her. Somewhere in her mind she realized it must have been his magic.. And yet the will to fight wasn't there. She wouldn't be able to defeat him...

Kerb:
Kerberos let out a tiny sigh of relief, watching the fight drain out of her. “I really, really don’t want to hurt you,” he said, hoping his magic might make her more susceptible to being talked around, “so maybe we can just both go home and pretend this never happened, yeah?” The more he avoided actually fighting, the more likely she would agree with him, right?

He wished he could still take hold of the anger that had propelled him through so much of his time as a Senshi. When he’d been angry, he didn’t have to think about why he was picking a fight, he just had. That was so much better than worrying about how disappointed Hver would be, or if tangling with someone was going to keep pushing him downward.

Kepler:
Soon enough the effects were waning. Her eyes looked up to the corrupt senshi and her brows knit at his words. He didn't want to hurt her? That was the first time she'd heard that from someone on the Chaos side. Kepler's lilac eyes softened a bit more and she almost, almost took him up on that, but the more the effects wore off, the more she got her resolve back.

Until there was no more regret and only determination. She raised one hand above her head, closed her eyes and summoned her magic to protect herself. "Defensionem!" Just like that she was able to summon a small shield around herself, which would negate his magic if he tried.

With that shield, her confidence boosted and she just ran after him, aiming a kick to his hand to make him drop the energy, hopefully back into the person.

Quote:
One hand is held up and she closes her eyes. The phrase is spoke and a shield of words, surrounds her, or whoever she focuses on.

In which she creates a small shield around one person, or herself. It negates all attacks for a total of 20 seconds! This can be for multiple attacks at the same time. Can be used twice per battle!

Kerb:
Kerberos swore loudly, stumbling backwards. s**t. s**t, s**t, s**t. Clearly she was not, in fact, up for being dissuaded, so instead he threw his hands up to defend himself, blocking her punches. “Come on, unless you’re gonna follow me around all night I’m gonna have to drain somebody else! We have quotas!” His voice was distinctly pleading, and maybe a little afraid. He’d heard stories of the sort of awful s**t superiors could hand down as punishment, and while he wasn’t exactly afraid of Natron, he knew there was a hell of a lot worse out there.

“I am literally begging you to just let me leave,” he said. Her shield wasn’t gonna let him attack her even if he wanted to, so all he could do was defend himself desperately.

Kepler:
The energy didn't drop and she just let out a frustrated growl. "Don't do it! You can change! Everyone can change. If you hate your faction so much you should just..." Just what? Yumi told her that people could purify. Yumi told her a lot of things about the Corrupt Senshi. The girl panted as she stopped there, looking at the long haired male before her and just had this look of pleading on her face.

"If you hate this so much, why are you still on that side?" She was questioning him now, the shield dispersing after a while. Her fists clenched in frustration. Kepler didn't want to attack him. He wasn't putting up a fight right now and he didn't want to do this. He said as much. "Why?"

Kerb:
“Do you even know what purifying means?” Kerberos asked, and his voice broke. “Do you think I’d still be here if I felt like I could get out? Did whoever told you that it was the magic solution to all of Chaos’s evil ills tell you that the person who purifies gives up their life, their family, and some of their memories? Walking away from Chaos isn’t like taking a walk!”

And that didn’t even cover that there were people in the Negaverse who knew his identity, who might turn on his family...who might turn on Erythrite, if she stayed - and she had no reason to leave. “I want to leave. But I can’t. There are people I can’t leave. People I can’t risk just because I’m not happy.”

Kepler:
"Look, it's..." Kepler stepped closer to him, brows knitting hard. "....I didn't know it meant giving everything up, but think of everything you have to gain. Order would welcome you and you'd have new friends and we could be your family.."

Why was she telling him this? Because he looked like someone had kicked his puppy and she felt guilty. He was doing his job and he was miserable. She was doing her job and making his life hard. She couldn't justify a killing just because he had to collect energy. It went against everything she felt in her heart. She had to protect them! "These people you kill? That Chaos kills..? They're someone's family. I'm not letting you get away with it!"

She worked herself into anger again and yet she had so much hurt in her heart for this senshi she literally didn't know the name of. She felt so bad doing her job because she'd never been against a senshi that had remorse for doing this. It almost brought tears to her eyes as she swung her fist towards his face. "Let the energy go!"

Kerb:
Kerberos wanted to scream. Everyone acted like he could just give it up and everything would be all better. Hver was the only one who seemed to really get that it would be a huge sacrifice for him, who was willing to understand that he couldn’t just upend his life rom some stupid moral stand. Instead, he just brought himself into a defensive stance, letting out a tiny cry of pain when her fist solidly impacted his arm. At least it wasn’t his face?

“He’s not dead! Go check, if you want, he’s just asleep, he’ll wake up in a couple hours a little stiff but no worse for the wear. I’ve had bad one night stands where I came out worse than he’s going to. People only die from being drained if the person draining them isn’t careful, or if they’re literally already dying.” He took a step back, and then another, looking around for an escape route. He was heading for the mouth of the alley, and if he broke for a run, maybe he could get away.

Kepler:
She wouldn't even follow him if he fled. Kepler could continue. She hurt for him. She hurt for all of the Chaos side that wanted to change but couldn't. If he was like this, it meant there were others. The toll for trying to come to the Order side... was staggering. She almost didn't believe him but...

Instead of following him, Kepler went to go check on the man as tears poured down her cheeks. "I'm sorry," she choked out, both to this man and that Corrupt Senshi that was hurting so bad. "I'm sorry you have to suffer... I wish.." She sniffled and just shifted to pick the man up, staggering a bit and then got him to the other alley entryway, the side she came from and put him where people could see him. Maybe someone would call a cab for him. "I wish I could do more..." Her throat clenched as she let the darkness of the alleyway surround her and she crouched.

Kepler wasn't going to abandon this man in case no one came for him.

She'd have to find that senshi again.
