Hi there!
I haven't mentioned this much in my dorm thread, but I am a huge gaming fan! I've tried using the X-Box console at friends' houses, but I'm not very proficient with it (although I have kicked a** at Marvel vs. Capcom and had a blast playing on the Sega Genesis [I was slightly drunk at the time, but oh, well]). With practice my console-gaming skills may improve, but until then, WASD, spacebar-mashing and mouse-clicking is the life for me! What's your favorite game system? Nintendo DS/3DS, anyone?
My games library on Steam has a few awesome titles, including Guns of Icarus, Garry's Mod, Dead Space, Dead Island: Epidemic, Torchlight and Torchlight II, Terraria and so on. What are some of your favorite games, both multi- and single player? (Incidentally, my Steam ID is MechanicalGrammatician -- Add me and let's play together! Hell, we could make a transgender gaming group for the Steam platform!)
There are a lot of cool games coming out as well and a lot that just came out in the past month. Super Smash Bros, I hear, is pathetic on the 3DS but rocks on the Nintendo Wii, and I have yet to buy my cartridge of Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (I can't decide which one to get, but I must finish the game before I cosplay Stephen!). I hear there's a Five Nights at Freddy III coming out, and Don't Starve Together is almost ready for release! Which new games or game updates are you getting hyped for?
Get your game face on and let's talk! Tell us what you love about gaming, what your favorite game is and some of your most memorable gaming experiences. Incidentally, has anyone considered making a game themselves and if so, how's it going?

Speaking of trans games, I'd suggest Anna Antropy's game "Dys4ia". It's short, but gets to the point. She's in the works of making a sequel to launch on Steam at last check.
Current favorite game is "Kirby Super Star Ultra". Bought it after watching the LP on StephenPlays for the SNES version.

Lawrence Eugene I think I've played Dys4ia. It's on Newgrounds, isn't it? It was a really good game for how short it was. I've been dabbling into the Ace VX RPG Maker program and would like to make a story based on a character who little is known about in the beginning; over time, the more clues the character gathers and depending on the experiences and interactions the character has, the true ending would be that the character discovers they are transgender. One of the alternate endings could be a life of depression and constant self-doubt as the character lives on without realizing or admitting to his/her actual identity, while another could be a well-adjusted, hum-drum life as the character remains gender-fluid. I'd love to make the game a reality, but doing it on my own would obviously make for a very biased storyline. I also need to figure out how to make original sprites and tiles or find someone who can. I'm not all that familiar with the Kirby game series, although I do know the basic premise of the character. Which system does KSSU play on? Original was on SNES, the remake on DS.

I had this whole post about gaming to share but my laptop crapped out, AGAIN. crying Suffice it to say this is why I don't have Steam.
Too much to discuss from a phone post, hopefully I can edit this later.

I love gaming. I come from a gamers household. Both of my parents were D+D nerds and my dad used to LARP. Needless to say I got into D+D early on and learned how to roleplay early on. As far as video games go; my favorite console will always be the PS2 because of it being reverse compatible and because most of my favorite games can be played on it. I'm not into FPS'. I'm pretty much strictly a platform gamer.

OH MY GOSH my busted laptop saved my post!!!
I wish my busted old laptop could handle Steam! One day...
I probably haven't played too many games overall, but video games and I go back a long way. As in Atari 2600 and E.T. (and I *liked it*). I spent a lot of hours on my Commodore 64 with Maniac Mansion and Bubble Bobble, too. Once the NES made its way into the house Nintendo was here to stay - Mario and Street Fighter, mostly. And then Game Boy and Pokemon happened, and WELP! I seem to skip Pokemon every other gen though; played a ton of X/Y but have yet to get the new Alpha/Omega, never played the originals of those.
For financial reasons I missed out on a lot of the later gen stuff over the years. Younger sibling had a PS2 and I got to play a lot of Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari at the time, I adore them. When I finally did get a Wii it was mainly for Smash Bros, but I've logged a ridiculous amount of hours on Endless Ocean and the sequel Forever Blue, diving and animal discovery simulators that for me are uber-relaxing (I can barely swim, my sinuses probably can't handle diving, and can't afford to learn to boot, so video games are as close as I'll get - plus I can go to impossible places and see rare animals I could never see in real life!).
Same sibling bought Super Smash Bros for me for Christmas for my 3DS. Compared to putting it on the Wii U and on a big screen I can see it being "pathetic" but for what it is I think it's awesome. I can zone out and play through Smash Run, collect trophies, stare at Ganondorf and so on. I am TERRIBLE at fighting games even though I enjoy the fun, not-serious ones in the style of SF, MvC, etc, so I'm wary of doing online play yet! sweatdrop I want to get a Wii U SO BADLY for Smash, for Mario Kart, and for Hyrule Warriors (never played the Dynasty Warriors stuff but what I've seen looks right up my alley).
Then there's the other game: World of Warcraft. I stopped around two years ago this month because I couldn't afford it and frankly I was s**t with time management, especially early on. That said, when I finish my Pharm Tech degree a year or so from now and have full time work, I'll probably resub for at least a few months again. I used to raid, but I really loved all the pet/mount collecting, minigames, and solo'ing old dungeons that were made easy because I was overleveled!

RynDraik I love gaming. I come from a gamers household. Both of my parents were D+D nerds and my dad used to LARP. Oh boy. LARP! Confession time: I used to attend LARP for Vampire: the Masquerade waaaaaay back in the late 90s/early 00s. For me it was an excuse to dress up GOTH *gasp* and go to an all-night restaurant with my best friend afterwards! xd

******** hell, D&D and Dagorhir... I love both. I've heard of V:TM LARP, but I never really got into it (although I might and probably could; I'm a ******** steampunk casanova). I've done some airship LARP with my own crew, but now that I've moved so far away I don't get to do that so much.
I recently downloaded a new game called Nihilumbra and I'm super-excited to play it. It's just a platformer, but after playing a bit of Closure, I know that PC platformers can be a legit work of art. I'm hoping to get Dokuro as well, when I have the money for it.
I've finished Pokemon X and am saving my money for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, although I'm not sure which one I'm going to play yet; I've played the hell out of the demo. I wasn't allowed to game at all until I was about 13, and even then it was all PC (Battleon/Dragonfable, mostly). Until then, it was strictly chess and so on. I'm still a bit of a board gamer to this day. Arkham Asylum or Pandemic, anybody?

Ah, games. Games games games. 75% of my week is taken up with these things, and I love it. Card games, game apps, rpgs, table top/board games, handhelds, consoles, etc. So. many. games. heart heart heart
I started out playing Pokemon Blue version on my big blocky Pokemon Yellow themed Gameboy Color. Since then, I have hated Dark Cave. Seriously, screw that place with a Weedle...I then discovered console games with the PS1, and switched to XBox 360 when it came out. The Gamecube will always be my favorite console though.
I'm currently playing Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning and LoZ: Minish Cap. My friends show up weekly to play table tops and card games. Our favorite is D&D: Lords of Waterdeep at the moment. We're also working on starting a Youtube channel for our gaming adventures called The Haunted Console.
I could go on foooooooreeeevverrrr about games honestly, but I think I'll hush up and let someone else have a turn xD

My gaming consists of my Steam account and Minecraft on my laptop. :3
My Steam games include 7 Days To Die, Terraria, Borderlands 2, Nether, Rust, Unturned. If you want to add me and play some time (warning my internet is CRAP so it's a little on the rare side that I can actually play anything other then minecraft) my steam name is: calebburke4
I also play the online MMO Tera, it's one hell of an epic Free To Play game it's surprisingly, for it being a really well made game, not Pay To Win like most MMO's are these days. I used to be big into Rune Scape back in high school, did my time on World of Warcraft, Ever Quest, Diablo. I love my MMO's :3
I Also love my table-top games too, played A LOT of Vampire The Masquerade (Tzimisce to the end) with my friends, and I would LOVE to get back into it again if anyone is interested!!!
And of course the classic of all classics.....
Magic The Gathering! I can't even begin to tell you how much money I have spent building decks over the years (Well over $1000 by now), unfortunately I have to start ALL OVER because my ex burned my cards.... crying One day I will have my unbeatable mill deck back. smile

I'm sorry I saw a gaming topic and went right for it. ;;;;
Video games have always been a big part of my life. I love them so much and they've inspired my (crappy) art and they've gotten me through some rough times.
Anyway! I was a big xbox gamer until a few months ago when I got a 3DS and Wii U.
For the xbox I played mostly shooters and RPGs. I have a small group of friends who I play Borderlands 1 & 2 with, Destiny (bleh), Halo, and a few other things. I also really enjoy Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and The Elder Scrolls games. I played all the Assassin's Creed games (except Black Flag and any game beyond that because tbh I don't like where the series has gone since Brotherhood). I really like Resident Evil. And a bunch that I can't think of right now?
I got into Legend of Zelda last Spring and so far I've loved everything. I just beat Twilight Princess a month ago and I'm still not okay. I also used to really be into Sonic when I was 10 - 14.
I've never LARPed or played table top but I have a friend who's really into it, and I've been wanting to learn? Hopefully I will. Seems right up my alley.

That's really cool! I'm been wrestling with Ocarina of Time on the 3DS myself; it's my first time playing it and I feel pretty stupid for not beating it yet, haha. LARPing is a blast. You should definitely look into it! Talk to your friend and see if there's any groups that practice it in your area. Most organized LARP groups have spare equipment you can borrow until you can make/purchase your own. As for tabletop (D&D), well, there definitely isn't anything quite like it and there's always some stupid adventure to be had. I played a chaotic-neutral Lizardman in a campaign once named Shia LaBeouf; before a week's worth of play had gone by, Shia had already fashioned what the group dubbed the "fire crotch torch" from a wooden stick, some torn ladies' underwear and the adipose from a freshly-killed goblin, earned a reputation for smiling all the time like a dumb-a**, vaulted over a large crevasse with a ten-foot pole, and shouted "Yoo-hoo!" while another character tried to seduce goblin guards away from their post before he finally got knocked down to neutral-evil. His offense? He tried to comfort a mourning Human merchant by offering him the roasted fingers of his dead wife, because food makes everybody happy. In another, less glamorous campaign, I was a rogue gnome with a pet rat who was somehow the most intimidating member of the group, even more so than the barbarian, who couldn't even manage to mimic an angry bear sound properly. (He rolled a nat 1, so it's to be assumed it came out as more of an asthmatic squeak.) We also spent nearly two entire sessions trying to knock two relatively harmless goblins out of a tree. There were six of us, and not one of us thought to either chop down the tree or set it on fire until several realtime days later.
