A quiet hum underlines the silence of this building, as metal corridors stretch out as far as you can see. The faint beep of some unknown machine matches the thump of your own pump biscuit.

[ Didero wasn't sure how he once again ended up infiltrating an empty building against direct government orders. It wasn't like he enjoyed this kind of thing. And yet, when the rebels called, he answered. His own curiosity was going to be the death of him, Didero realized.

Hatoful Dad had probably figured that out a long time ago, but was a dutiful enough lusus to come along anyway. He hadn't grown any fonder of narrow passageways, but at least these were cleaner and more stable than those of the Root.

Speak of the devil. Didero, with a nervous, shaking hand, had opened a door at random and discovered the source of cleanliness. Not the mystery they were looking to solve. Didero sighed in relief that he hadn't tripped some kind of security alarm and closed the door.

Turning back to the hallway, he looked around. It all looked pretty much the same, save for his teammates and their lusii.

"I don't suppose either of you spend much time navigating office buildings..."

Skae poked around the immediate area, as much as he was able to, with Taldad herding him this way and that. The quiet hum of machinery and narrow spaces was comforting, familiar in a fashion to his own hive. He giggled as the greenblood he'd been teamed with found the supply closet, the smell was like a slap to the face, bright and clean. It reminded him a bit of a sharp tea, cut with the stuff. He wrinkled his nose and refrained from backing up into Taldad. The corvus was peering down one hallway, head turning this way and that, before he nudged Skae towards one door that looked slightly ajar.

Creeping over to it Skae peered through the tiny crack, before pushing it open, breath held, but the door made no sound. Inside the office was empty and void of anything of interest. Well that was anticlimactic.

Zariah looked at the group he'd been sidled with nervously. Again he felt the familiar apprehensive pangs of being in danger without his twin. She was overbearing and it drove him up the wall....but he had to admit he was well protected with her and their lusus, alone in a secure facility with two strange trolls....he worried a little....and yet, he still knew damn well that he didn't want to just follow his sister around everywhere. He had to stand on his own two feet at some point in his miserable little life.

Swallowing back his fear he smiled shyly at the other two trolls. "H-hi!" he said in his most awkward yet cheerful tone. "Um, I'm Z-zariah. And n-no.....the only derelict buildings I-I've had the oppertunity to inv-investigate was m-my old hive...." Prior to moving in with his twin Zariah had lived in an old ampetheater.....he missed it...."B-but maybe.....Iunno, this way looks good?" he asked apprehensively, scooting casually under the radar. Well....it could've been worse!

[ "Nice to meet you. I'm Didero Salons."

Despite the disappointment of having to wander the building aimlessly, Didero gave his companions a bright nod. This was much better than going it alone. He could count on at least these two not to turn him in to the police when all of this was said and done.

...Right? Right. Didero shook his head and continued his way through the building. He decided this door looked particularly promising.

...It was the custodial closet. Again. Didero closed the door with an uncharacteristic deadpan expression. Hatoful Dad fluffed his feathers in concern.

"Maybe... Maybe someone else should lead the way."

Skae bounced from the empty room into...another empty room. He gave the area a bland unimpressed look before backing out with a sigh. Bluh, what was this? All unlocked offices must hold nothing of interest day? He rocked on his heels and fiddled with his goggles, eyes drifting over to the two other trolls, having entirely missed their introductions.

Taldad clicked his beak at him, ruffled his feathers and let out a series of low whistles complete with head bobs. Skaes nodded, peeped, clicked and waggled his fingers in return before turning to the two. " Hi! I'm Skaeys and this is Taldad. Uh, i-it's a pleasure to meet you?"

Zariah smiled faintly as he watched the two lusi ruffle their feathers in equal measures of distaste. His eyes slowly meandered to his own lusus and he sobered. In the past he would've made mental comparisons to his own lusus, how the other two lusi probably would've been excellent parenal figures and warm on cold nights, but his own lusus was amazing for other reasons....but Kei's lusus just wasn't the same. Their lusus was just....different. He'd never known that two creatures so similar could be so different, but lo and behold he'd seen it first hand.

The rustblood shook his head, clearing himself of those thoughts, focusing on the problem at hand. "S-sure, how about.....um....this way looks safe?" he said, tone unsure. He opened another door and flushed faintly. "Oh.....oops...." he mumbled sheepishly. He grinned faintly at Didero, feeling perhaps somewhat akin to how he was feeling about that supply closet. Well....it was safe at least. "I...guess I'm not the best with directions, huh? Um.....need to copy anything?" he said with a weak laugh. He was nervous about the two other kids, but they seemed nice.

SUPPLY CLOSET: A PERMANENT FIXTURE OF DIDERO'S LIFE

[ "Okay... Okay, I got this." After yet more wandering, Didero pulled a notebook out from his sweater vest. Writing utensils would once again proved to be useful in all circumstances forever. He flipped to a blank spread of paper.

"How about we write down which rooms we've visited... And where they are in relation to one another, and soon enough..." Didero murmured in explanation as he pressed the notebook against the wall--doodling squares on the paper.

"...And soon enough we'll have a map!" Didero pulled away triumphantly and held his notebook out for all to see. While not artistically impressive, it did appear to be a series of squares in the approximate layout of the immediate vicinity.

"So with our newly compiled knowledge, we can clearly see our next location should be--!" Didero threw open the door to his left.

It was the supply closet.

Skae had stood a few feet back and pushed up onto his tiptoes to be able to see the 'map'. It wasn't that the other troll hadn't shown it to him, but he hadn't angled it in such a way that Skae could have easily seen it. He cursed how short he was at times like this. Taldad seemed more amused by his frustrations, easily hunkering down in the middle of the hallway. He clicked his beak a few times before leaving it open, eyes slightly curved up.

Skae pouted at him. His dad was laughing at him, for being short. The jerk.

But with the others logic in mind he opened the next closest door, only to find a supply room. He stared at the contents with the practiced eye of someone who knew what they wanted, only to snort in disgust and close the door a few moments later. There was nothing work taking that he didn't already have a generous supply of already.

[ This was ridiculous. This was beyond ridiculous. Didero wasn't even worried about getting arrested at this point, because their little group was CLEARLY NOT A THREAT TO ANYONE.
