It'd be a lie to say Cascade wasn't afraid.
She had spent such a long time from Kafun, and now that they had newly reunited she was pregnant, something they had tried to do before their separation, but never were fruitful. During the time they were separated she had tried, once or twice, to conceive, and failed. Guilt had overcome her during those periods, reminding her of the man she had loved but then declared dead. She never thought she'd not only be reunited with him, but also bear children.
But here she was, stomach growing rounder as the holiday approached. Either she was pregnant, or needed to lay off the berries, and Cascade really hoped it was babies. She was an old lady now! She was surprised she even could have kids! Would they be more like her, or her mate? What names would she bestow upon them? She didn't have any answers, only more and more questions as the days went on.
Luckily, Kafun was supportive, which she needed. He always had been, even when she admitted to trying to move on without him. He always forgave her, and always would lend a strong shoulder. She was proud, even. Her kids would inherit his strength, hopefully, and become just as loving as their father. Or.... so she desired.
She really needed to stop fretting. Kafun had expanded their den for her, and she ought to be resting while he hunted. Her tail whipped about, eagerly awaiting her mate and the food he'd bring.

Thudump, Thudump, Thudump. That was all Kafun could hear in his ears. His heart was talking awful loudly, louder then ever before. Normally that would worry someone but he wasn't worried about it. He knew it was from the news that his life long sweetheart and new mate was having babies, his babies. She told him that she thought she was pregnant and he was very inclined to believe her. So his heart was pounding away with all the emotions that were swirling around inside him like a twister. He felt like his heart was bursting with joy, happiness, worry, concern and to many more emotions to name. They had wanted kids and to be together for a long time. Yes they had been through some rough rough patches but they were here now. His only worry was he wouldn't be a good father....he didn't know what a good father was supposed to do. His own father didn't care for him or his brother and neither did his grandfather. His great aunt did care and so did her mate and kids but that wasn't exactly the same was it? He didn't have that role model there to let him know how things were done. So he felt like he was winging it based off what he had seen with other couples but he had no idea if they really worked or it was just how that couple was. He took a deep breath and shook those thoughts from his head. Now was not the time to be thinking like that. It would bring him down and distract him even more then he already was. He needed to be a good mate and father and provide for his mate and coming kits. He knew Cascade didn't care for meat because of the thought of hurting the animals but he knew she needed her strength for her and the children and meat was protein and that would help them. He hoped she would forgive him for his couple kills of the three grouse. And to be sort of a peace offering he found her favorite berries to bring back. So that was what he had and was making his way back to their den. wc:372

Cascade had just been about to drift off when she heard movement and the scent of berries reached her. Shifting and folding her paws, the vixen awaited her mate to enter the den, or at least get within speaking range.
Oh gosh, she was going to be a mother. What was she going to do? What if she wasn't good at it? Or her kids found her obnoxious to be around? Her heart hammered at the idea, sending bright blue eyes wide. No. She had Kafun. He'd be able to show her the correct path, right? Everyone was new to parenting when they first conceived.... yet they figured it out.
Inhaling sharply, she wiggled her nose and peeked out of the den for her mate. "Kafun?"

Gaah his mind was in an uproar. He was starting to doubt himself with his kills. Cause he knew she didn't like meat and he was told by his aunt that pregnant females food choice could be a bit unreasonable and well they were even more of an emotional roller coaster ride. He didn't want to do any thing to upset her.
With that in mind he paused outside the den's entrance and started to pluck the feathers off of the birds so that maybe they wouldn't upset her as much. Hmmm maybe he should get rid of the head to so that they eyes didn't bother her. Just as he was about to bite the heads off he heard her call. "Yes love what is it?" he asked worry in his tone as he took steps toward her.

Cascade's ears flipped back when she smelled the scent of meat, head ducking back into her den. Right. She knew that meat was good for a pregnant fox, and sometimes she had the strange desire for it, but she was mostly vegetarian, and had been for years. She couldn't help her little heart pitter-pattering at the idea that'd she be eating a live anima. Well, most foxes did it! She was just doing what everyone else did!
Peeking her head back out, teal eyes peered at her mate curiously, trying especially hard not to glance at the bird behind him. She didn't make a move to leave the den and get closer, instead just impatiently patting the ground with one paw, indicating she wanted her mate within touching distance.
"I don't have to eat it after the babies come, right?" She murmured, voice barely audible as her ears lowered once more and eyes locked on the bird, immediately regretting it. Oh deities. It's eyes!

Kafun left his kills and his gathered berries outside the den and got down on his stomach and crawled slowly closer to his mate and into their den. Maybe he shouldn't have gotten them?
He moved within touching distance of her and wondered if he was gonna be smacked for being a dumb male and bringing her meat. He would let her to because he knew how much she wouldn't eat it and didnt like it but...
"I'm sorry dear I know I'm and idiot but it is the only thing I can think of to feed all of you so that you all can keep your strength and no dear after the kids are here you don't have to eat it."

The scent of berries reached her and her stomach twisted anxiously. Oh, she really was hungry! Once he was within touching distance she wiggled just a bit closer and rested her head on his paw, ears swiveling back once more.
"No. It's fine. I know. I just don't like it. But if it's for the children then that's all I care about." Sure, meat was wrong to her, but losing her kids because she wasn't properly feeding herself was not an option. Normally, she could sustain all of them with berries, but fate had decided to get her pregnant during winter, when berries were hard to come by. Sure, she could feed herself just fine with berries, but her kids would suffer. There just weren't enough vegetables and fruits to keep everyone healthy.
So, she'd suck it up. She needed to. She didn't want to lose the precious joys she hopefully had in her belly.

Kafun took in what she was saying but he still didn't have a happy look on his face. He needed to figure out a way to make this better for her. He didn't want it to be a painstaking task for her. But what could he do?
His borrows were scrunched together as he thought and then an idea hit him causing him to jump up and exclaim, "I got it."
He looked back at her with an excited smile. "I know how to make this easier for you. I'll do something that I've seen the silly humans do. We can do this,"
