With a head full of too much knowledge for him to even be sure he understood, Tommy was sent on his way to meet the partner that Molly had told him about. She had gone with him right up to the top of the stone steps that led downwards before he was left to do things on his own, and while she had only been somewhat helpful in her explanations of things, he was grateful, regardless, and still quite apologetic for punching her in the face, even though she remained uninjured while he was the one sporting a broken hand, which he still held cradled to his chest.
Upon leaving the pod room, they had been joined by another hunter, one from the "Life Division" (whatever that meant). He was slightly more informative than Molly had been, explaining to Tommy further what he was to expect, letting him know that once he was finished in the cove, his tour of the island would begin.
So, all he had to do was get through this next step, hurdle the current obstacle in his path (thinking of it as an obstacle was somehow much more exciting to him), and he could move on and learn more! Seemed easy enough.
And so, when it came to going down those steps, he did not hesitate, practically sprinting down them two at a time with one hand resting against the damp, stone wall, keeping him balanced. However, on the last step, his toe caught on a crack in the step, and he stumbled, and without a second hand to steady himself with, he fell.
No, he didn't fall, he dove. He pushed off of the steps with his feet, he extended his arm in front of him. He arched through the air, tucked his chin down to his chest, landing in a graceful roll that ended with him back on his feet.
He was smiling, then, a large toothy grin, his hand reaching up to swipe back a mohawk of purple hair that had landed in front of his eyes. He let out a laugh, and the sound echoed around the room, off of the walls.
He looked around, and that's when he saw them. The tablets that covered one wall, all hanging in precise rows, dark, grey slabs with images carved into them.
