Eight to ten. That was the shift Zeke had just gotten off of. Eight p.m. to ten a.m., fourteen hours. He should have been tired, and he was, but there was a certain lingering buzz of energy that made the possibility of sleep seem impossible. At least for now. Caffeine still riding heavy in his system. So instead of heading to bed the Mist had stopped at his room to change out of his scrubs, and was right back out the door again in a matter of minutes. Heading down the hall in a long sleeved t-shirt and jeans, pulling his jacket on as walked.

At 104 he stopped, knuckles rapping heavily against the wood as he shifted to rest his shoulder against the wall. He wasn't even sure if Ever was in, but over time the Lifer had managed to break him of his habit of texting first, and Zeke was more likely to simply show up now, and resort to technology only after ruling out if Ever was actually in or not.

As he seemed to be so often, now, Ever was sleeping -- but, to be fair, his own schedule was just as wrecked as Zeke's. Before his stay in the infirmary he'd worked out some sort of routine, with his schedules, but now it seemed to be more about picking up what he could. Places people wouldn't bug him. Often with a chair. He was tired.

He'd get over it, eventually.

But for now, it meant he answered the door distracted and tousled, unshowered and still in [Zeke's] PJs. For a moment, he looked confused, then he hummed. "Just off?"

He held the door open. Zeke could come in.

Ever looked as tired as Zeke should have felt. He gave the blonde a long look, gaze taking in the bed head, the tired eyes, the familiar pajama pants, and he had to smile as he nodded, breath leaving in an amused huff. "Yeah, just waking up?" A needless question.

As the door opened he slipped past into the room. Hands coming up to smooth back through hair, down the back of his head, before finally coming to a rest laced behind his neck. Even if he didn't really feel tired, he probably looked it. Eyes a little red, shadows beneath them. He gave Ever's bed a long look before turning back to the blonde, green eyes dropping to linger on borrowed sleeping pants. "Hey, I used to have a pair of pants like that." It came out amused, maybe even a little pleased.

"Used to, yeah." Ever's tone was easy, deadpan, as he dropped down to sit on the edge of the bed, digging fingers into his eye. Maybe he was still too skinny -- definitely, he was still too skinny, all pointed elbows and sharp chin -- but at least he was moving better, without any hint of that wince or that wobble. Just tired.

He blinked up at Zeke and thougt for a moment, teasing expression melting toward thoughtful. "...I don't have to wake up just yet. If you were planning on sleep..."

Ever and his bed were given another long, considering look. A tempting offer, very tempting. Enough so in fact that he moved those few steps closer to stand between Ever's pajama clad knees. "The second I lay down, I'll be out for the next six to eight hours." Dark fingers slid through messy curls, drawing them back away from Ever's face and holding them there as a curiously appreciative look crossed his features.

"I don't actually feel tired, yet." He should have been exhausted. "Little reluctant to sleep the whole day away."

It got a flicker of hesitation, brief -- uncertain, maybe -- reading something suggestive into Zeke's words, even if it hadn't been meant that way. He didn't move, but he did lean back on his hands to peer up at the other man, shrugging one shoulder in a crooked sort of way.

"I have to go work eventually." Which was maybe as close as Ever came to saying not in the mood, and it was a gentle way of doing so. He tapped fingers against the mattress. He thought. Chewed on words.

"How long are you staying up?"

Zeke, momentarily distracted, missed the that hint of hesitation. Pale eyes were on Ever's face, and after a second or two he smiled, letting his hair go. It was getting long. "Not sure. Ideally as long as possible, but I suspect eventually exhaustion will win out." He's lip gave a slight curl in annoyance. "No infirmary duty tonight." Meaning it would be in his best interest to fight off the over all ******** of his sleep schedule.

"How about a spar? You can kick my a** again." Brows lifted. If it had damaged his pride in anyway when Ever had beaten him the last time, it certainly didn't show.

If Ever wasn't up for it, he was going to have to figure out something, maybe attempt the Sun run again. He couldn't hold still too long, not if he wanted to stay awake.

Ever scraped fingers up the side of his neck as he looked up to Zeke, maybe tempted to refuse this, too -- but, honestly, it was probably a good idea. He'd been off his feet for so long, and while he'd still been able to hold his own well enough, a little practice couldn't hurt. A little muscle mass would be better. There were a lot of things he should take up again.

Like running.

So he puffed out a sigh and tangled fingers into the front of Zeke's shirt to haul himself upright and go looking for proper clothing. "I could use some defense practice, anyway."

The look up was met with an easy smile and raised brows, and when Ever grabbed for the front of his shirt to draw himself up, Zeke looped fingers around either wrist, offering support as he stepped back to give the other man room to stand. "Whatever you want." Offensive, defensive, it didn't matter to Zeke. So long as they did something.

He considered taking a seat on the bed to wait for Ever to change, but that would have been a mistake. Instead the Mist leaned his butt up against the desk, arms crossed loosely, and fought off the desire to yawn while Ever changed. Pale eyes following that lean body.

He turned his back, still, when he tugged the shirt up over his head, and scrabbled quickly into the fresh one: still too self-conscious about that hooked scar to let it be seen in full light. But the pants were a careless affair, taking his time to shove feet into jeans, digging around under the bed for his boots. Ever didn't brush his hair, or bother with a hat, instead letting it tumble messily around his face. It was what it was.

At least he dressed quickly, shrugging into his coat last -- with just a breath of a sigh. Maybe he would have rather the sleep.

"Eventually I should try that Life course again. Get my hands on some bandages..." And he gestured, briefly, for Zeke to lead the way.

Zeke's lazy smile faded a little as Ever turned his back, and his hands came up once again to the back of his neck. Fingers lacing, and head tipping back into them. It was slow crawl back to the usual, but this, at least, was leaps and bounds better then things had been. Zeke would take slow, if the alternative was nothing at all.

He waited for Ever to get his boots laced, then straightened up, hands dropping back to his sides as he was gestured to lead the way. "Seems to me they're a little less forgiving if you're trying to solo it. Stronger s**t in the darts." His lips twitched, features annoyed, as he pulled open the door and reached for the handle on the main entrance.

It was that, or the techs were enjoying giving Zeke a hard time. Not an impossibility.

"At least there's no one to use the markers, though." He ducked past Zeke with just a puff of a sigh, peering down the hall -- and then out into the sun. It made Ever wince, just a little: hung-over, maybe, although that would mean he somehow got his hands on more alcohol. Last check, he'd been completely dry.

"Though, if you find the right person, they wouldn't anyway." It was most certainly not a promise.

One shoulder rolled up in half a shrug. He'd been at the mercy of Paige, and that girl had been creative, leaving him in nothing but his boxers, marker all up and down his chest and back(not that he'd been aware of the later until the next day). "Marker washes off." This to the first comment, and the second, a grin was turned towards the blonde as they hit the edge of the field. "We could give it a shot." The grin widened. It was hard to say whether Zeke would take advantage of Ever unconscious, marker in hand. Likely the Mist wouldn't know until presented with the opportunity.

Hell, it wasn't anything a shower wouldn't fix.

On the trampled lawn of the training field Zeke pivoted on his heel, walking backwards, Lagertha flashing to life in either large hand as he put a little space between them. "Straight defense for you? "

"Unless you want to get your a** kicked again." It was teasing, but in a distracted sort of way, without the easy kind of bite it usually had. Without the flash of a smile, the raised eyebrows that often made people want to hit him. Instead, Ever summoned his weapon and rolled out his shoulders, eyebrows raised at Zeke.

The lack of usual bite was noted with a curious blink, but Ever didn't generally respond positively towards questions regarding his well being. For all the Mist knew the other man was simply trying to focus. So Zeke didn't ask. Instead he followed Ever's lead, focusing, meeting those raised brows with a similar look of his own. "If you get bored blocking, be my guest." He hadn't minded it the first time, he doubted he'd mind it much now. Ever knocking him on his a** had done nothing to shake his ego, and in fact, had lead to a very good time.

Fingers tightened on the leather grips on his axes, and Laggy was an eager buzz in his mind. Excited, despite their spar being more of a training exercise than an actual exchange of blows, as she'd have preferred.

Smile hitching up on tanned lips, he started forward, rushing in and delivering a heavy swipe of an ax across Ever's rib cage. It probably should have tugged at something, attacking Ever, but the Life had proved time and time again that he was a lot tougher than he appeared, resilient. He'd survived a one on one with a psychotic horsemen, Zeke would hardly be much of a challenge.
