Though he was on Winter Break and supposed to be relaxing, Glitnir had some pressing concerns on his mind. Even with Christmas looming ever closer, he still wanted to continue his little survey of Knights (and senshi, if he could find them) and see how rough people were willing to get. Furthermore, he needed to visit his ancestor on his Wonder again. The waiting period had been three weeks; now nearly three months had passed. He knew Cornelius wouldn't be happy with him. Would the old man even be willing to answer his questions after his absence?

He had been wandering absentmindedly through the streets, waffling over whether today would be a good day to go to his Wonder, when he felt the prickle of a Negaverse Chaos aura coming from somewhere. He ducked around a corner for cover, and waited till he could see the approaching lieutenant. He wouldn't attack unless he (or she) was making trouble. Perhaps the lieutenant could give him some answers, too.

Regardless of his current situation with a certain senshi, it was back to patrol, as always, for Aurostibite. His lack of a promotion in the past three years was, to say the least, embarrassing; he'd served well among those of his own rank in the Negaverse, but it had become alarmingly apparent that he was still a Lieutenant.

And with certain events that had occurred; Aurostibite was beginning to feel the pressure.

His boots made a clicking noise as he made his way across the street. It was dark outside, though it wasn't too late; the winter weather meant that the sun went down much earlier, and Aurostibite tugged at the brim of his hat. He could make out the dim signature of another person; it was too far away to discern who it was, but he thought it might have been Order-sided.

Aurostibite brushed a stray strand of hair out of his face. The aura had grown stronger - definitely Order - and he rounded a corner of a nearby street, eyes narrowing slightly.

"Who's there?"

Right. Auras were a thing, so after a while hiding was pointless. Glitnir stepped out from his corner, gripping the chain of his scale tightly. "A Knight," he answered, looking the lieutenant over. "And you're a lieutenant. What are you up to?" Certain people he had met had stressed the importance of talking first. If this lieutenant was just going about town and not being actively troublesome yet, surely he could let him slide. "Nothing too serious, I hope?"

Aurostibite turned to face the newcomer, eyes narrowing slightly as he regarded the person in front of him. He'd already had one run-in with a knight, and it had been less-than-pleasant; he didn't particularly want another run-in that followed along the same vein.

His eyebrows rose.

"I don't see how that's any of your business," Aurostibite said coolly. "Do you make a habit of interrogating those you don't know when you first meet them? If so, I have to say that your manners could use a little brushing up."

This lieutenant seemed to be a tough customer, but he hadn't attacked, so neither would Glitnir (most likely). "Interrogating? How is that interrogating? I just asked a question. Were you doing anything in particular, or just going around town?" He didn't consider it interrogating till force and intimidation entered the picture, and as far as he knew they hadn't. He casually dangled his scale by his side, attempting to look a bit lax, like he didn't actually intend to use his weapon (which he didn't, not right now anyway).

Aurostibite just regarded the other in disinterested sort of way, eyes narrowing as he observed. "I dislike being asked too many questions straight off the bat," he said flatly. "My business is my own, as I'm sure yours is."

He lifted his head somewhat imperiously, and his gaze moved to the scale at the other's side.

"If you wish to use that, I suggest you actually use it, unless it's merely a decoration."

"Do you not ask questions as a part of normal conversation?" Glitnir knew that wasn't what the lieutenant meant, but he was going to play dumb and see what happened. "Okay, let me try again. Hi, how are you today?" He caught the lieutenant's attention drifting to his scales. "Well, you know, I don't go around beating up random Negaverse agents. I prefer to focus on the ones who're making trouble. Or are you another one of those guys who needs to give me a quick whack so they can tell their boss they did their job today? Because I could go for a quick spar, if you'd like. I hit you once, you hit me once, and then we can both go home and say we did our jobs."

He shrugged one shoulder, which was neither a confirmation, nor a denial of the posed question. Aurostibite's eyes narrowed a little in irritation, because this sort of thing was not what he particularly cared for - the snarky sarcasm that was accompanied by smirks and flippant comments.

Aurostibite scowled.

"Or I could merely see about doing away with you," he said. "As much as possible. I'm not going to say I did my job, I'm going to actually do it to the best of my abilities."

Glitnir wasn't actually being sarcastic. He had, in fact, encountered lieutenants who just needed one little mark as proof that they did their job. The situation was rapidly becoming worrisome, however; this lieutenant was more than willing to kill him if he kept this up. "All right, that's more like it. I'm not feeling like betting my starseed on anything today." He changed modes with a quickness that surprised him and charged towards the lieutenant, scales ready for a swing. "Here I come!"

Aurostibite's glower towards the other was unpleasant, though the majority of his emotions were kept in check. He tugged absently at one of his gloves, wondering if it was even possible to get out of this situation with his pride intact anymore -

- but he did not have time to dwell, as the next second, the scales swung towards him.

Letting out a yell, Aurostibite dived to the side, but he wasn't quick enough; the scales clipped the side of his head, sending stars dancing in front of his vision. He staggered where he stood, a hand rising automatically to clamp down over the bruise rapidly forming on his temple, and Aurostibite's expression became closed off, muted in irritation.

"How unfortunate," he muttered, and curled his gloved fingers into a fist, leaping towards the other with a small snarl that hissed past clenched teeth.

Glitnir took that punch clean to the face and did not have time to worry about how he would explain the bruise to his friends. "Not bad," he mumbled before readying his arm to swing the scale up. "Say, don't you guys normally have some sort of weapon? Where's yours?" It must have been something small and hidden. Maybe it was under his hat? Maybe it was the hat? Curious. The scale swung upwards and would probably clock Aurostibite in the chin if he didn't get out of the way.

Aurostibite let out a huff of impatience as his face flushed a little. Truth be told, he did, in fact, have what he'd been told was his weapon - but being reminded of that fact was somewhat embarrassing, considering that the weapon itself was...not exactly weapon material.

"It's where it is," said Aurostibite evasively - though his body was less evasive, and he staggered backwards, the scale smacking him hard on the side of his jaw. He saw stars for a moment, his entire head ringing with pain, and swung blindly out to try and hit the other, as his other hand lifted to massage his throbbing jaw.

A blind swing was easier to dodge than a more measured one, and Glitnir was able to hop out of the way just in time. "It's your hat, isn't it? I gotcha." In a sudden flash of mischief, he lunged forward and made a grab for Aurostibite's hat. Maybe it had a razor brim and could be thrown at people to slice them up, Oddjob-style. Then again, that might have been giving too much credit to a lieutenant's weapon. The girl he'd had a run-in with had an ouija board, and that one lieutenant that didn't give a damn, his weapon was a cup. If this lieutenant's weapon was his hat, it probably had absolutely nothing special about it. Not that it mattered; anything could become a weapon with a little creativity.
