Kaalnia stuck her tongue out at the retreating aldabuck as she retrieved her spear from the fruit, which made a crass sort of sound and slumped down into a blob of an air bladder. Kaalnia, normally happy to be a little immature, declined to make fun of the fruit – her meat was in sight.

She stalked towards the herd, though she was sure that they had seen her, spear ready to throw. They watched her warily from a distance, clustering nervously around the trees for protection. Kaalnia figured that, if she didn't get gored or stomped or otherwise injured, throwing a spear into that herd would be like shooting fish in a barrel, though who would want to put live fish in a barrel and shoot them – she didn't know. Or, what they would be shot with. An arrow, maybe? Or, just a spear? It was a strange turn of phrase, and she wondered where it had come from.

Either way, the Aldabuck were not fish, but she was going to be hopeful and try it anyway. She drew back her arm, her face squinched up unattractively in concentration as she gathered her strength. And then, with one smooth motion, she threw, sending her spear sailing into the herd.

She heard a grunt of pain and the herd – as one – trampled away with the sound of thunder, leaping into the shelter of the trees and away. They left behind one – an aldabuck whos eyes were already beginning to glaze over, it's sides only just ceasing their movement.

“Aww yeah.” Kaalnia said, taking up her spear and looking over her offering appreciatively, “I did good here.”

And with that, she hoisted the beastie up onto her shoulders and strode back to where she had left Iroia and Votzhem, hoping that – as a conquering hunter – she looked impressive enough for the both of them...
