Standing outside the simple wooden door, Ray stared hard at the rings and patterns within it. He reached out, touching it gingerly, as though making sure it truly was there, not a dream, not a lie. The wood felt solid beneath his fingers. Real. He was really there. Majesco's Psychic Academy. Rammus shuddered and lifted his hand to look at his watch. 10:27PM the tiny hands read. Closing his eyes, he leaned his head back and ran the hand through his hair. He was dirty, travel worn, exhausted. He wanted to sleep but...

He opened his large, deep green eyes and stared down the door agian. He had ran, fled from his father. He had no choice. But this? Was this really what he wanted? To fling himself into his dead mother's arms, trusting in powers, terrifying things she had hidden from him? He scowled. What did it matter? They had taken his letter, sure, but they would still call his father. And all too soon he'd be back in that house that had become a prison when his mother died.

Biting his lip, Ray pulled the strap of his bag and reached for the knob of the door.

The plain dormitory's main living area was exactly the way it had come -- with one exception. Planted in one of the chairs in the dining area, his boot-clad feet thrown up lazily on the kitchen table, was Sebastian Horn. Oh so stylishly garbed in a League of Legends t-shirt, his favorite black jeans and a mess of carefully chosen leather and cheap metal accessories, the seventeen-year-old had his head thrown back, his eyes closed, and his arms folded across his chest.

The door to Sebastian's bedroom was propped open by a small black boom box, from which Satyricon played played just loudly that if one passed by the front door they would hear a low hum. The room it came from was dark, the lights all out, but it had clearly been furnished and decorated.

Sebastian almost appeared to be asleep. He did not seem to be moving besides his slow, rhythmic breathing. But this was ordinary for him. Music was always playing, no matter what he was doing, and it was not uncommon for him to completely lose himself in it. At the moment absolutely nothing was going through his mind but the lyrics of the song, which formed visibly in his mind. He couldn't hear the presence on the other side of the door through the music.

Long fingers wrapped around the cold handle. He hesitated momentarily, then turned the knob and pushed the door open. The low hum suddenly became a loud noise, Ray winced, standing in the doorway now seriously debating going any further. He sighed, at least he wasn't waking anyone up.

He looked around. The furnishings were simple, plain. It was small, much smaller than any room Ray had seen, except maybe the office the adults had pulled him into when he had been found wandering the grounds just an hour or so ago. Seated in a chair was a boy much older than himself, tall, lanky and clad in leathery metal bits.

"Um...Hello?" He said with a furrowed brow, shuffling his bag idly.

The boy's voice somehow managed to slip through Sebastian's music and less than completely conscious state of being, even when the opening door hadn't. One of his eyes slowly opened a smidgen, revealing a narrow slit of red pointed directly at Rammus.

"Who are you?" He didn't need to ask. Staff excluded, the only people who should have keys to the dorm were the students occupying them. Therefore the only logical explanation was that this boy was his new roommate. Did they put any thought at all into who they stuck together? He was just a kid!

While he was waiting waiting for a response the CD ended, bathing the room in silence.

Ray shuffled awkwardly under the red stare of the older boy and tried his best to keep eye contact. Mother had always said it was rude to not look at the person with whom you spoke. Was this really his room-mate? Of course it was, no one else would be allowed up here at this hour, but still. Gripping the bag's strap tightly, Ray stepped closer and offered his hand.

"My name is Rammus Gordón. It is a pleasure to meet you, sir."

Sebastian's eyes opened a bit more. He looked Rammus over a bit more thoroughly now, taking note of how worn down and unclean he looked. He wasn't sure if that was because the boy had come a long way, or if it was just because he was that age. Most of the kids in his town around Ray's age (at least, what he appeared to be from where Sebastian was standing) were lazy little jerks who may as well have bathed in the grease from their pizza rolls, the only stable in their diets.

His eyes flicked to the boy's hand when he extended it, and his head raised the slightest bit from the back of the chair. "Sir? Nah, I don't think so." His head dropped again. "Sebastian Horn. Your roommate, I guess." He sighed, furrowing his brow a bit. Hopefully the kid wasn't too big a pest. He didn't introduce himself like a little jerk, so that was a good start at least. "Need a tour?" Not that there was much to the dorms, but it would give Sebastian to explain just how off limits some of his things were.

His large green eyes never left those red orbs. In the silence that hung over his attempted handshake, Ray's ears rang slightly as he tried to get a feel for this guy. He cocked his head slightly and dropped his hand. Nothing. Maybe he didn't belong here, he sighed inwardly. At the young man's offer, Ray straightened up and gave a slight nod.

"If you would, thank you," He said, closing the door behind him with his foot.

Sebastian let out a groan as he swung his legs heavily off the table, his boots stamping on the floor when they dropped. Another lighter groan escaped as he stood up, revealing his impressive height, lessened slightly by the fact that he instantly slouched, shoving his thumbs into the pockets of his jeans. "You're--" He had been about to finish the sentence 'weird', in reference to how polite the kid was. But the look of discomfort behind Ray's eyes was not hard to catch, and so he reconsidered his words. "Welcome. You're welcome." He wasn't a complete jackass, after all.

Walking into the kitchenette, he motioned towards the cabinets and appliances around him. "Kitchen. Nothing special. I don't usually leave leftovers lying around, so you don't have to worry about eating something you shouldn't. Uh. I don't keep any of my stuff in the main area. It's all fair game. Bathroom's over there." He pointed, then wandered towards the bedrooms, dragging his feet a little as he went. "That one's yours, this one's mine. Just don't touch my CDs or books without permission and we're cool. Cool?"

He slouched against the wall. "What are you in for?"

Ray watched as the punk boy became a giant looming over him. Ray wasn't short, in fact he was in the middle of his growth spurt, but this guy, Sebastian, he thought, was huge. The shuffle of Sebastian's large boots, and the smaller sounds of his own, were the only sounds in the small apartment. Ray watched with dull eyes as he pointed out each of the rooms. What did it matter? He wouldn't be here long, not if his father had anything to do with it.

Ray lifted his eyes back to Sebastian's as he repeated himself, "Cool." The word felt odd on his tongue. He stepped forward and opened the door to his room. It was empty, cold and dark. He sighed and pushed it open father, letting the light from the main room flood in.

'What are you in for?' The question hit him square in every doubt he had about this. Why was he here?

"I am not sure, to be honest," He said softly, staring into the dark room, "But I had to do something, right?" He stood, staring at his shadow stretched across the floor, "What about you?" Ray asked politely, turning to look at Sebastian.

The truth? Sebastian had been pretty decent at controlling his powers for the most part. He was very relaxed in general, not really prone to outbursts or emotional distress, which he figured helped him out quite a bit. But only a couple of weeks prior he had snapped at the one he held dearest -- his little sister -- and scared the living daylights out of her when she saw what he could do. No one was hurt, but it was terrifying for the seven-year-old, and Sebastian couldn't stand the thought of putting Lisbet in danger.

"Just need to get this business in check." He shuffled his feet around, staring down at them with those red eyes. "Y'know?"

Sebastian smirked a bit, glancing towards the door. "You know some kids around here can manipulate fire and all sorts of things? I've only seen a little of it, but they can. I half expect to see Professor Xavier come rolling around the corner." Ah, that precious nerd.

Ray tried his best to ignore the fact that his grip on the door frame had intensified. His knuckles were white and his nails, dirty from his escapade to get here, were digging into the wood. That feeling had returned, like a sharp punch to the sternum. When he breathed in, it was like he was sucking in the emotions that had suddenly became palpable. There was no context, only the thick steam of guilt.

Despite its bitter taste, Ray gave a polite smile and a simple nod of acknowledgement. Swallowing, he exhaled slowly, trying to clear his mind. He faded out a moment, only to return at the talk of fire-manipulation.

His big green eyes somehow grew larger. That was possible? He was stunned, his mouth popped open and despite his mother's inner remindings of his manners, he couldn't help but blurt out, "Wow! Really? Can you do that?"

Sebastian noticed the change in how rigid Rammus was, and his eyes flicked to the hand gripping the door frame. He was mildly curious as to why the boy was acting so strangely, but didn't exactly care enough to inquire.

He let out a laugh that was somewhat rough and crackly. "Yea, some people can. I wish I could. Me, I can just--" He focused suddenly on the chair that he had been sitting in, red eyes narrowing as he raised his hand and flexed his long fingers. The veins in his arm began to pop out a bit more visibly. The chair shook slightly, as if it were about to move, but then gave up entirely and was still once more.

Sebastian grunted, crossing his arms in irritation. "Sometimes, anyways. There's other things, too, but nothing as flashy as fire." He smirked.

Ray listened closely to Sebastian's explanation and watched even closer as his roommate tried to, he amused, move the dining room chair. all it did was shake a little, but still, it was incredibly interesting!

"I can't do anything that interesting," he said quietly. Sebasitan had revealed a little about his abilities, so it was only polite to follow suit, wasn't it? "I, um... I'm not entirely sure what it is I do. But I know that I see colors. Like..." He closed his eyes and tried very hard to focus. It was difficult, he was terribly tired and stressed, but still, he felt the click, like a switch being flipped up. When he opened his eyes he saw that Sebastian was surrounded by an interesting saffron color. Ray smiled a little, the color was nice at least. "Your color is yellow. With a little red, maybe."

Sebastian stifled a smile. So his roommate and he had something in common, then! It was the first time that he'd met someone who shared a power in common with him. Technically, it was the first time he'd met someone with powers at all, staff not included.

He focused for a moment, cocking his head to the side and narrowing his eyes the slightest bit at the boy. "Green. Yours is green." His composure cracked and the smile came through a bit. "They're our auras. I don't know much beyond what I've read, just that they can tell a lot about a person. I don't know what they all mean though. Everyone is different, and some people seem to be easier for me to read." His sister was like that. He was very familiar with her colors.

Ray offered his roommate something rare; a small, but genuine smile. Nothing forced, nothing polite. Real. Right then, he shared a connection with someone, something he hadn't done in what felt like forever. It felt...good, he decided. "Green, huh?" That had been his mother's favorite color.

"Well," He said, clapping his now relaxed hand on the door frame, the smile still hanging on his lips, "It is getting late. I should get some sleep. But thank you, Sebastian. For showing me around, I mean." Maybe, he thought as he turned and walked into his small room, this place wasn't going to be so bad after all. "Goodnight."
