So, Kaalnia knew she had a simple task: Find a meat animal, kill it, and bring it back to Votzhem and Iroia. She had a pointy object, so in theory it shouldn't be hard: she'd just poke it a few times, it would be dead, and then meat would be had.
It was clear that Kaalnia rarely did her own hunting.
After what felt like wandering in circles, Kaalnia found herself thirsty and tired and a little grumpy. She'd found nothing, and she certainly couldn't come back to them empty handed. That would be un-Kaa-like of her to do, and far from awesome besides, though that was redundant: Kaalnia was awesome, thus un-kaa-like things were not awesome.
“Well Popper.” she grumbled to her pet/decoration menk, “What do you think?”
Popper really couldn't think much further than 'glub' or 'food' but it was always better to talk to a fish than to oneself.
“Yeah, I think I should head back too, see if I can't find anything small... hang on...!” she paused in her meandering and kneeled down at an indentation in the soft, sandy mud of the borderlands. “Hey, that's a hoof!” It was a hoof, which meant there was probably one of those Aldabucks nearby. “Woooo, Popper! We'll have meat yet!” she cried, racing to follow the tracks. The mud was churned from many hooves – a herd of the critters, all munching on grass and full of delicious, delicious meat. Kaalnia could see them and, spotting a tan, warm-looking, moving streak among the trees nearby, she lobbed her spear at it.
Hssss
An inflatable fruit, tan like the aldabuck, let loose its trapped air through it's new wound, slumping as the Aldabuck watched in interest. Then, determining that there was a threat, it dashed back towards its herd... confused
