I'd like to think that I'm pretty calm~
And I try not to lose my cool when dealing when things go horribly wrong.
But the following is a list of omfgpleasedonots that really steam me~
I feel like this will help first-timers avoid making some of what I feel are the biggest mistakes you can make during the ball.
This is in no way aimed at anyone personally!
It's meant to be helpful, not chastising!
Do not insult a guest...
I don't care how angsty your NPC is. Do NOT take it out on a guest. No girl comes to the ball to have her dress derided. If you need to be a meany-pants to someone, take it out on another NPC! Fights between NPCs are often hilarious for guests to watch, however fights between NPCs and guests can cause drama, and cause guests to leave / not have a good time.
Do not disappear without warning...
Sometimes things come up. I understand that. But I need to know if you are no longer able to fulfill your duties, or if you need to go on hiatus for awhile. I promise you, I will be understanding. But if you take off without warning, chances are I'll drop you from the room after a couple months, because I have no idea where you went. Whereas, if you tell me that something came up and you'll be gone for a long period of time, but back in time for the ball, I'll totally understand, and do my best to fill you in on current events when you come back. I want to work with you, not around you.
Do not disappear during the ball...
To real people, who have all worked very hard to put this on. If you're not going to be able to make it to the ball, let me know as soon as you know, so I can try to replace you (or at least not left wondering where you are) . If you work, try and call off that weekend. Everyone will understand if you can't get off, but if you don't try, that's just rude. We are putting in a lot of hard work here. Volunteers who still live with their parents might want to tell them that they are working on an event that will be enjoyed by thousands of people. Depending on the job you want, this can even be a resume builder. Tell them what you are doing is important, and ask them to be understanding that you need more computer time. Whatever you can do to make sure you are present for the longest amount of time possible, please do!
Do not decide to change the plot...
This is a rare one, but it has happened. We take time to write our plot out for a reason. Sometimes emergency changes need to be made (say if we lose an important character days before the ball), but those are decisions we will make together. This means that you also shouldn't trigger plot important events without everyone involved being ready. We will be normally be chatting in a chat room while the event goes on.
Do not puppet anyone...
You can only control your character. You can't control the guests' characters. You can't even control other NPCs, unless that person tells you to. This can be as little as assuming their reaction to something. Don't even assume that they looked surprised at what you say, or that they smile at you, unless they say they do. This annoys guests, and annoys me.
Do not start petty fights with anyone...
We all have to like each other, or this isn't going to work. If you have constructive criticism for anyone, phrase it nicely. Do not start petty fights between your fellow roomies, or between guests. This just makes things unnecessarily unpleasant.
That's a list of my biggest pet peeves. Avoid them, and i will love you instead ♥
this what i was told when i first joined by Princess Angelisha which i have edited sightly to fit our room
