- It has many names, including Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, The Promised Land, the Realm of the Dead; all are correct and incorrect to some degree. The Vocivus - or The Void - is the home of the Aeternus, where souls are brought and where new Aeterna are born. It is by no means a place of judgment and it hasn't even been proven if it's a place of reincarnation; all that's known is that this is where the souls dwell when their mortal coil has come to an end and that they don't always stay there.
It's a land that is molded by the mind, and is probably why it has so many names and connotations. Unchanged, the Vocivus is like gazing through low-hanging stars with a dusky horizon in the distance, neither light nor dark, but just so. A thought can change its appearance to the viewer, be it a sprawling ocean or highest mountain top, a distant desert of an alien land unfathomable. It is tangible, able to be interacted with and physically molded at will. It can be anything - everything - or nothing as desired. It is a place of infinite possibility, as the Aeternus are only now beginning to realize.
The Vocivus spans the world in a few footsteps, or in a great trek. The Aeternus can step in and out of the Vocivus in a bat of an eye and be half way around the world if the Aeterna wills it so. It is the only place that the Aeternus can exist and be tangible themselves, a makeshift home of anything they could ever want. Humans and animals are unable to reach it until their soul has been removed from their body, and once returned to the Vocivus, the soul adds its knowledge and experiences to the place, a constant feed of power. No one is quite sure why it needs the power or what the power might be at all, but it's undeniable, a constant current on the skin, a taste in the air.
The closest humans can ever be to the Vocivus while alive is the sense of deja vu or seeing a shadow move out of the corner of their eye. These are typically places of a high concentrate of power, not making the realm thin or weak, but more like it's swelling and leaking into the Earth realm.
