Name: Adelaide Avery
Nickname: Adele
Age: 18 21, she's been away for a while.
Birthday: October 10th
Sign: Libra
Gemstone: Opal
Blood Type: AB negative
Fav. Food: A good salad with ‘Cucumber ranch’ dressing, though outerwise she can’t stand cucumbers.
Hated Food: Cucumbers and mushrooms, evil EVIL things that she finds disgusting.
School: DCU
Hobbies:
Blogg-bog – At least once a day you can find Adelaide with her feet propped up and typing away like a small machine gun on her laptop to update the world on everything she has an opinion on, and a few things she didn’t before she read your own. It’s lead to some number of online friend shops, perhaps more even than she has ‘IRL’
For the most part you can expect to see tidbits about her life - where she ate, what happened in school, who dumped who. However, you will also find a lot of opinions on the news, interesting articles she's linked (at least that she finds interesting), very rarely she might even link another blog.
While it can't be said she has a very narrow focus for her blogging she's dedicated.
Yoga over Yogurt – There is just something satisfying about being able to master some new pose, the world narrows down to good balance and deep breathing. A frustrating day or a bad homework assignment can be put on hold or even ‘let go’ with a little easy going ‘time on the mat’.
Point and Shoot - a left over from one of her HighSchool Art classes, Adelaide still likes to take her Camera with her wherever she goes, The advent of digital cameras has helped her reduce the amount of film she wastes with hasty clicking and poorly lit attempts at pictures at least, but once in a while she comes up with something that makes her proud. Those happy few get printed out and pasted into what amounts to a photo album. The addition of things like porcupine quills and skull stickers in the middle of lace and ribbons are her additional attempts to be 'artsy'
Virtues:
There must be a way! - (resourceful) Those who this is set against might just call it stubborn, but for anyone she puts a mind to help they know she’s as unyielding as an oak tree, given enough time she’ll either splinter the ‘stone’ that stands in her way or find a work around. Can’t Book that venue for your party? That’s ok… she knows someone who has something even cooler. Library is out of the book needed for a research paper? Track down other people in your class; someone has to be willing to share.
Her tenacity lends her a very la' se faire attitude when it comes to long term plans though as she's sure 'she can find something' to tide her over and for better or worse she's been right.
Elbow Deep –(Hands on) Adelaide isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, she’s done her share of summer jobs that left at least a few of her class mates eye rolling. She did the winter shift at the post office, carting bags of Christmas cards in the cold; she’s sunburned picking blueberries till her fingers were purple for days after. She’s willing to try most anything once because ‘someone has to’, that isn’t to say she’d ever ‘settle’ for something that she found truly unpalatable, but she’ll at least give it a shot.
She may never return to ‘drilling parts’ at the local casting company though, one time of the drill grabbing her glove was all she ever needed for a life time.
I did it my way! - (Self assured) - If her hair didn't give it away she follows the beat of her own drum. She wears the clothes she wants, how she wants them. She doesn't care that jeans with stitched on silk bottoms went out a few years ago she bloody well likes them and she's going to show you up in your 'wood chipper pants' no matter what 'project runway' says about 'current fashion' - It's very hard to make her doubt herself, if she latches onto an opinion she'll hold on like a rabid dog, if she likes a style by god she'll wear it. Laugh if you will she'll just say you're the one 'missing out' and give you about a dozen 'reasons' why, be they fact or fictional to suit the moment.
Flaws:
Without a Plan – (Aimless) She may be willing to try anything once, but that very attitude leaves her feeling that she doesn’t need to plan too deeply for the long term. She’ll find a job ‘somewhere’, doing ‘something’ and so long as she does well at it that’s got to be good…right? In the end she figures that somewhere after college there is a job, she will ‘get there from here’ she’s sure… the how and the where are up in the air though.
Damn right I'm right - (Stubborn) Adelaide is sure she's right - even if you have a valid argument she'll turn a blind eye till its staring her right in the face. The most far reaching 'reasons' come to light as she struggles to validate a hastily formed opinion. While most prevalent on her 'Blog' it can also come to light in person as she lashes out for antidotal evidence and pure 'pressure' to try and make her 'opponents' buckle and admit she's in the right. The best work around for this is to try and make it seem like it was always her intent to say something more reasonable from the start, her ego assuaged by 'being right' she'll move on to new things.
It's not dead yet! - (Pack rat) If it still fits, if she's still fond of it, if it MIGHT be useful at some point in the future Adelaide is loathe to part with 'things'. Her stuffed bear, ear falling off and long ago given a haircut with kitchen scissors still holds a prominent place on a shelf of her book case. The steer skull that they picked up on a cross country trip through a desert that had to spend a month locked outside so that it wouldn't smell -quite- so bad. (Fortunately a problem long past). She just doesn't like throwing things out if she ever cared about them or even if they just -might- be useful again. She wears her shoes till the rubber can't be glued back again, she patches her favorite pants and saves the springs off her hair clips.
Her favorite gifts to family often involve 'recycling' bits and pieces of things that -they- were fond of before they 'died'... anything can live again if you save it long enough...right? To this end she feels that most anything you can get used is just as good as, if not better than something new. Heck if it still works why not, its functional AND cheep, and someone loved it once...they had to. That's what people DO with their things.
Sadly at times this makes her come across as either clueless...or cheep sometimes, like when you move into a new place and she found the 'cutest little black and white TV just for you! So much better than that flat-thing.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Golden Green
Hair: Long White with the tips dyed brown though it’s faded. It’s a mix of loose strands and half distracted dreads, beads and twists. She declares it unique though it’s given her hell a few times in getting work.
Face:A slightly angular chin and piercing eyes, just a bit of Eurasian in her face. She wears little make up, preferring to go ‘au natural’ despite the lengths she is willing to go to to turn her hair into a post modern masterpiece.
Clothes: Flirty tops couple with oversized sweat shirts, half the time she’s layering her own clothes with her Brother’s things. Tight jeans leave little to the imagination but vanish into clunky cowboy boots as often as they are paired with flirty heels. She dresses as much on a whim as for where she’s going.
