"Have you noticed Hjortur acting strange?" a rough voice called out, its owner pacing back and forth in the room, hands carefully folded behind his back. The boy had always had a habit of getting himself into trouble due to his brash decisions (not that it was his fault for that trait of course), but he seemed to be even more spaced out than normal. As if something was wrong...

Looking up from a half-finished string of pearls being woven into a necklace, a soft voice called back in return. "Strange...?"

"Yes. Strange."

She paused, looking down to her hands and contemplating for a long time before lifting her eyes up once more. "Hasn't he always been a bit? I rather like him that way, personally." Looking back to her work, she laughed lightly. Snorri always managed to get caught up in the silliest of things. What did it matter if their son was unusual; that simply made him unique!

Grumbling, the pacing resumed. "No... Not in that respect. It is as if... As if he is hiding something from us. Yes; that's it!

He continued his thoughts and broke into monologue, cutting off Vera before she could have a chance to provide input. "The boy never was skilled at keeping something from me. Oh no... I always know when he is up to no good. And this time.

This time.

It must be something especially wrong. That boy should know better than to keep something from his father at this age, but does he ever learn?
" He looked over, continuing as she opened her mouth. "No. No he does not!" Oh the very thought simply infuriated him.

Pouting and setting her pearls down, a very childish whine came from Vera. "You're doing it again!" To say that she emphasized the last word would be quite the understatement.

"Doing what, exactly?" he snapped, his temper flaring per usual.

Gesturing to his whole body, Vera commented "This." She crossed her arms. "You always get yourself excited over nothing and then take it out on me. Stop and just go somewhere else to complain." her tone was continuing to sound like some child who was being told to do some sort of horrid chore.

"Were you never taught that if you have nothing to say, then say nothing at all?"

To his blank stare, she sighed and shook her head, sighing. "Guess not. Well the main point of that is to not say something if you cannot say something nice."

"I got that." he didn't point out the repetition between the phrase and its meaning. Not worth the tangent argument. "I understand what you are trying to tell me."

Smiling, Vera once again returned to her bead-work. "But really, what was it that you were saying regarding Hjortur? Is there a problem with Pippin?"

Huffing, the male ran a single hand through his spiked hair. "Pippin?" his had dropped down to cross over the other arm, a characteristic scowl made by Snorri's lips. "I doubt it... The girl would have told us; her mouth is even larger than Hjortur's. No, it cannot be her."

Sighing and setting down her needlework, Vera looked over to her mate for a moment, not a single word escaping. Silently, gracefully, she slid behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulder, much to an abrupt-

"What?!"

-from him. Leaning forward and nuzzling her cheek against his, she cooed softly in his ear. "You are tense. Come, love... Calm..."

He could feel her smile without seeing it, and with its warms he felt his shoulders relax and his breathing calm. Only her touch ever seemed to quiet his spirit as such, almost as if it diffused a tranquilizer of sorts.

Damned woman.

Or so he supposed he'd like to think. It was rather hard to complain when in the embrace of someone so dear to you.

Pulling away, but not completely, Vera's voice softly rang out to him. "Have you calmed yet?"

Without missing a beat, his amused reply followed "In some aspects, yes, in other, far from but."

"Snorri!" her tone was sharp as she pouted, chided him, and gripped him more tightly around the neck with her arms. "Are you a child; that is no way to speak around a lady," a pause and and an slow continuation, likely an afterthought spoken aloud. "Though... I suppose this is just your normal way of speaking..." another pause. "Never mind!"

It was times like this that Snorri remembered the demure and lighthearted personality he'd fallen in love with; oh, after all this time, how soft she had made him. Best pacify her now if he ever wished to hear the end of it. She could be truly relentless at passively making her point if given the opportunity to do so. "Even if I calm, that doesn't change the feeling."

Bringing her arms closer to embrace him once again, Vera placed her forehead against the back of his neck. It always seemed to fit perfectly there, like it was made just for her singular forehead. "I do not believe I told you to change them, only to calm."

She swam above him so that her large eyes looked to his, if upside down, and her bangs swept away from her face. "If there is a problem as you believe, he will come to us. He always does." She smiled warmly and placed a hand on his cheek. "Just allow him the time to do so, alright?"

Spirits help him, how could he ever refuse any request, large or small, asked of him from this woman. Those eyes; those eyes... They were just so goddamned adorable. Like a baby seals'.

Glancing away in a very tsun-tsun sort of fashion he grumbled his compliance. It wasn't like he wanted to wait for Hjortur to come to them, he just wanted to have his suspicions confirmed.

"Good~!" Vera's smile turned into a downright grin as she leaned forward to nuzzle her nose against his before swimming back to her needlework. Now if only she could remember how she had been doing what she was doing...
