Pascal is, above all else, a jokester with a heart of gold, and a free spirit. He finds happiness in experiences and interactions, and less in reflections or his own thoughts. He cares little for repercussions, since his flexible appearance lets him get out of most situations, though he'll rarely use this to outright hurt people. Playing pranks on people and generally getting his way with strangers has given him the ability to read people, making him surprisingly good at coercing others despite his often childish demeanor, and it would be easy for someone to expect him to be less intelligent than he is.
In his attempt to take as little seriously as possible, he rarely brings up his own past, or tries to get too deep into conversations about the affairs of others. Most of this comes from the rather trying experiences of his youth, and this makes him very apt to passive aggression or outright anger when it comes to people making decisions for others.

It was in the year 1986, in the small town of Vashon Island, Washington, that the young boy known as Pascal Anderson was born; only the a single mother named Gabrielle to raise him. Unbeknownst to either mother or child, Pascal's father was a shapeshifter, one who drifted through towns and lived off petty crimes using his abilities for personal gain. As Pascal grew up, he always enjoyed blending in with groups of people of different types. Some days he felt like being with the "in" crowd, and he seemed to be just the type to do it. There's was, overall, nothing all too special about him, though he always found certain things about himself... curious.
His hair color would change very quickly, going from brown to black, to red, to blonde within the course of a few months. Occasionally, his fingernails would fall out, replaced with ones of different sizes. He made sure to keep the details of these oddities hidden, but things became complicated when, one morning while he was sixteen, he woke up to the image of his crush of the week in the mirror. Everything about his appearance, even his voice, was now a replica of the girl, but when his mother walked into his room, it was Pascal who was shocked.
His mother proceeded to, seemingly, shed her skin, changing guises into that of an older male, introducing himself as Lyle. It was here Pascal learned the truth: His mother, Gabrielle, had been killed and replaced with this man, this shifter, Lyle, when he was ten. Lyle felt that Gabrielle couldn't be left to care for a child who would one day develop the ability to change their shape, so he took it into his own hands. Terrified, shocked, and more than a little heartbroken, Pascal ran away from home, using and training his newfound abilities to get any resources necessary. This became his life for the next seventeen years.
At first, he managed to pick up on the skills involved with replacing other kids; stalking, mimicking their friends to get close to them, then slipping in when possible to get what he needed. He managed to get the last of his high school education, and even some college time at various universities, across his travels. Things took a big change during a trip to North Carolina, however. While attempting to... "liberate" some money and items from a convenience store while posing as its manager, Pascal was accosted by a dark-haired woman with a gun.
This woman, Jennifer Browning, was about to kill the poor shapeshifter, making claims that he was a monster. Pascal pleaded, begged even, telling her he had never killed anyone, and that he was willing to do anything in exchange for his life. Jennifer spared him, under the condition that he would help her on her mission.
