Here are my two maca smoothie recipes.

Usually I just add a bit of this and that until it's to my taste so these are really just guidelines. Change them to your taste xp

Choc Banana Smoothie
Makes approx 2 cup

1 Ripe banana (Extra ripe banana if you want an extra sweet smoothie)
200ml milk (Can use almond milk)
Approx 3 heaped teaspoons of Cacao
Approx 2-3 teaspoons of Maca (You can start with less)
Around 7-10 ice cubes
A couple of splashes of water
Optional: A tablespoon of your favourite unflavoured protein powder.

Blend it all together and enjoy!
Note: This smoothie tastes like it should be a junk food or a dessert or something. Water down if too strong.

Tropical Kiwi Smoothie
Makes Approx two cups

2x Kiwi fruit scooped from their skin (I like to use slightly under ripe sourish kiwis)
200ml Light coconut milk (May be a little too creamy if you use full-fat)
2 teaspoons Maca
Approx 10 smallish spinach leaves
7-10 ice cubes
A couple of splashes of water

Blend together and enjoy!
Warning: This smoothie can be addictive blaugh I am mildly allergic to kiwi fruit but I love this smoothie so much that I don't care about the rash or tingling I get from it.

I would love some feedback from anyone who tries my smoothie recipes. 3nodding

Does anyone else have some smoothie recipes to share?

Sounds good! :3

I make Smoothies for a living. xD I could give you guys the not so secret recipes to Smoothie King's Smoothies. Haha.

I am confused about how healthy they are. The guy who started our company claims that Smoothies were the only way he could really eat due to stomach issues. But my doctor says very cold drinks and food are bad for you. :/ He says it freezes your intestines and things don't move properly. But then again we do a lot of things as humans that aren't great for us, haha. I know having my almond smoothies actually helps my digestion. I don't need my digestive hormones anymore now that I get a Smoothie almost everyday with almonds.

My favorite Smoothies from my work are Almond Mocha and Peanut Power Chocolate. I don't know the exact recipes because at work we use "green scoop" or "red spoon", that sort of measuring. So I'll try and get a few. twisted

If you want a Smoothie that will really fill you up though, I do have a suggestion now. Sunwarrior protein. It's amazing. It's made of hemp seed, cranberries, and peas. It smells and tastes great. It's non GMO and vegan. Their site has free Smoothie recipes and you can order from them. I'm paranoid now about buying online but you can get the powder at Smoothie King as well and probably other health food places.

Smoothies bad for you?
...Well I guess most of the smoothies at places around here are pretty bad for you. They all use flavoured frozen yoghurt which is full of added sugar and fruit juices that are loaded with sugar without the fibre from the actual fruit to balance it all out.

I don't see how they would freeze your intestines though. I have read some random article about how having iced water with meals makes the fat in the food solidify making it harder to digest. It seemed like a pretty BS article though with no sources or research to back up their claim.

I do have a story of a personal experience that kind of disproves the whole 'cold is bad' thing... it is totally overshare and if you are squeamish I suggest you stop reading now.... anyways... once I ate a ton of icecream and it made me feel really sick (it is sooo easy to eat so much icecream that you go way beyond full sweatdrop ) so I ended up vomiting half of it up straight after I had eaten it. I only remember this story because my vomited icecream was still slightly cold and that was rather unexpected. Not really cold (more tap water cold) just not warm like you expect your puke to be.
So... if icecream is already warmed to coolish stage immediately after eating I don't see how it can be bad by the time it gets to your intestines. I'd assume it would definitely be body temperature by then. whee

Of course, I do know some people with sensitive stomachs get cramps with the initial shock to the system when eating cold foods.

Oh well... I guess you could always make a smoothie with water instead of ice. It may not be as thick but you can still enjoy a delicious beverage. xd

I can't wait for your smoothie recipes! I need more smoothie ideas.

Well I guess people are always gonna have their own opinions. After having a Smoothie practically everyday and not even needing my digestive stuff anymore I figured it was BS, haha.

I realized the real problem with our recipes, it's the water and juices. We use squirt bottles so it's "1 pump" of this or that. I'm not sure what the measurements would be. :/ But I suppose you could always play around with it.

My favorite is probably almond mocha. This is the recipe:

7 pumps water ... maybe I'll figure out the measurements later xD
2 pumps coffee
2 tablespoons almonds
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups ice

I also like to add frozen vanilla yogurt.

Mmmm that sounds yummy... too bad coffee makes me bounce of the walls and need to pee every 5 minutes.

Do you know how much the smoothie cups hold? That may help for figuring out quantities.

I might still try this smoothie on a day that I need extra energy (maybe enough energy to actually clean my house sweatdrop ) and am close to a bathroom. xp

How well do those protein drink mixes hold up? I need a snack to bring with me for when I get hungry and am not close to home, but I've had trouble figuring out something that'll hold up in my bag and isn't nuts (since I don't want to cause people allergic reactions).

Well they come in a paper-like pouch if you get the singles. You could mix them with water but I've never tried it. I use it in a smoothie with fruit. I dunno how long it would take for that to melt. I always drink them right then or put them in the freezer. They say you have to drink them within 24 hours if you freeze them.

For something you can carry around.. I say protien bars. I love the KIND bars. Unless you touch anyone allergic to nuts I wouldn't worry about it. But if you do they have one flavor without nuts. xD Nut Free Kind Bar

It's actually crazy to me there is only one. But I'm sure there are other protein bars out there that are nut free.

Next to that KIND Bar I linked it says this:

"Allergen Information

Made in a facility that processes peanuts, tree nuts, soy and sesame seeds."

Erp.

But Kind Bars are so delicious. The apricot and almond with yogurt is the best.

I usually stay away from protein bars 'cause of the sugar. I'm not supposed to have sugar really at all. ^^; I noticed some of the drinks are easy on the sugar so I thought they might be worth a try. I tend to get dehydrated too so it might be helpful to have it all in one go, but if it gets gross... Welp guess I'll just have to give it a try.

Oh wow, no sugar. That's my biggest addiction. sweatdrop

People mix Lean 1 powder with nothing but water. They actually sell "shaker" cups just for it. They sell Vegan 1 powder too. You can check it out here. I probably wouldn't like that with water alone either but now that I think about it, that would taste a lot better than SunWarrior if you were going the water route over the Smoothie route. I think I get caught up on the SunWarrior because it has hemp seed. xD I'm afraid to try the Lean 1 at work because of the bugs but people really seem to like it. xD Usually it is made with bananas and almonds.

It's so hard! I love sweets. I could go on forever about sweets. I'm hyperglycemic though, so I need to try to be careful with my health. I only figured out recently what that awful feeling I'd get after eating sometimes was. sweatdrop

Thanks! ^^ I've been interested in trying one of those for a while but it's a real headache trying to sort through the endless brands and figuring out one that might be good.

Ah, that's hard. At least you know now what's wrong though.

Lean 1 is our highest selling protein at my work. The vegan 1 isn't very popular but of course not a lot of people are vegan. We have 2 different people who come in every single day, sometimes twice for a Lean 1 smoothie, haha.
