Quote: who: Aide (amicableAggressor) & Zajac (a pet dino) what: meeting for the first time! where: camper cabins when: first day of camp Aide dragged her heavy dufflebag down the camp path, despite the fact that her father had offered to carry it. In fact, he had been a bit definite in his own way, as she was also manhandling Yog's cage, and nearly falling over from every step. But as usual, she had paid no attention to her parents who were quickly intercepted by counsellors anyway. Adults doing adult things. She had slipped between them and down the path, intent on finding where she would stay. Keeping the simple map she had seen of the camp grounds fixed in her head, she soon arrived at the end of the short trail. Stopping infront of the first building, and reading the sign, ' Oak Cabin 1' she carelessly dropped her bag and stepped inside, carrying Yog's cage in both hands. They said camper's names would be written in front of their beds, so Aide'd just go in and see. And if not, no big, she'd just check the next one. a pet dino she's checking out zajac's cabin :>

Zajac had just finished up his little 'cave' of a bottom bunk when he heard someone else coming in. He had been alone before that, so there was a chance it was one of the other boys coming to claim their bunks. Luckily there wouldn't be a fight about who's bunk was who's, since they had each campers name on them, but there were other bad things that could happen. Peaking through the end of sheet he spotted a girl and his eyes went wide. This wasn't a girls cabin. Even though he was startled by seeing someone else so soon, he took a breath and relaxed a little. Girls were nicer than boys, his sisters were evidence enough of that, so he shouldn't have a problem with this one.
He was about to say something, that she was in the wrong bunk most likely, when he spotted the snake in her arms. It wasn't the largest snake that he had ever seen, but it was a snake none the less and he knew they were dangerous. He looked back to Aide. "Hi." It was all he could say, nearly frozen in terror. If it wasn't for his sister's fresh words telling him to make friends in his head, and the fact that the person in front of him was a girl, he most likely wouldn't have even said that.

Aide looked over at the sound of a nervous voice coming from one of the bunks, and took in the kid standing there. He seemed shrimpy and nervous, from a first glance. Unimpressed, she approached Zajac, Yog bumping gently around in her cage. "Hey. Where are the names written? I wanna find my bed." She followed the boy's gaze to her pet's cage. "If I don't get unpacked soon, she'll get hungry." The last word was emphasized a little, and underlined with a mischievous and slightly threatening grin. That should cut off any comment the boy might be getting ready to shoot off about her pet. Aide swore to herself that if she heard one more slightly snide remark about how snakes weren't cute, she'd throw something at the commentator.

Why was she coming closer? Zajac moved away a little, not wanting to get all that close to the girl and the animal that she had caged. Names? Her bed? She had to have it all wrong. This was a boys cabin, and he was pretty sure that the boys and girls didn't stay in the same cabins. Or did they? He didn't mind if he did, he liked being around girls, but maybe not this girl. There was just something about her... Or maybe it was the snake.
However once Aide made a comment about the snake being hungry he realized it was the girl. Just the way she said hungry made him worry that she was going to eat him, or rather let her pet eat him. "At the end of the bed..." he pointed towards where his name was before swallowing the ball of saliva that had gathered in his mouth. "But this is for boys..." he added trying to be at least a little helpful. If she realized that she wasn't in this cabin than she would leave, taking the hungry monster with her.

Aide had turned around to face the end of the bed as the boy begun spoke, then spun back as he trailed off. "So? How do you know I'm not a boy, huh? I could be." She looked the smaller kid up and down. "And you're wearing a girl's hoodie." Putting Yog's cage down on the floor, she stretched her arms a few times. The snake was light enough to pick up on it's own, but the cage itself was heavy, especially for a small child. "Where are the girls cabins, then? Huh?" Bending to pick the cage up again, she started to walk back towards the front of the cabin, expecting Zajac to come with her. They were having a conversation, so it made sense that he'd stay around to keep his end up.

When she asked how he knew she was a girl, and than proceeded to tell him that he was wearing a girls hoodie his eyes went wide and he had to fight the urge for his lip to tremble. He had never wondered if the hoodie was a girls or a boys one. She put the snake on the floor and he immediately picked up his feet. Even though the snake was in it's cage he wasn't taking any chances. "Um.... I just knew?" if she wasn't a girl this was going to be very, very bad. Why hadn't his sisters prepared him for this kind of situation.
She picked up the snake and he calmed down, slightly, allowing his feet to touch the floor once more. He was safe at camp, the counselors had told his sisters and parents so. He just had to keep reminding himself so. Plus the snake was small. It wouldn't eat him. He watched as the girl walked to the front of the cabin, talking to him as she did so. Honestly he wasn't sure what to do. She was still talking to him, so he should walk with her, but she also scared him and he wasn't sure following her was the best idea...
"Um.... I think one of the cabins are next door...?" he really wasn't sure, and he wanted to help her more, even if she was scary, but he really didn't know how to. He stood up next to his bed, holding onto the post of one of the corners. If it looked like she would be going on her own way and leaving him alone he would just crawl back to his bed, but if it looked like she might send her snake after him he would follow her and try to help as much as he could.

"Um um um - " Mimmicing the boy, Aide spun around in the door to face him. Inwardly, she scoffed. Some little shy kid, bor-ing! Hopefully he'd be better at lifting than he was at talking. Hefting up the cage once more, as it was starting to slip out of her fingers, she jerked her head towards the sunlight and fresh air behind her. "Help me carry my stuff then. Boys are supposed to help girls." Turning her head slightly, she looked at the name written at the bottom of his bed. "Sah......jack, right??? Is that your last name or something? Why aren't you introducing yourself? Didn't your parents teach you manners?" Believe it or not, this was Aide being friendly. Looking back to the boy, she gave another predatory grin. "C'mon Um, you're supposed to go outside at summer camp. That's like, half the point. Stop lurking around indoors!"

Bully. She was a bully, he was sure of that now. More so he knew he was trapped when she told him to help carry her stuff. He knew that bullies didn't stop if you stood up to them, it made things worse, so his best bet was to go with the flow. Hopefully he could help her out and than go back to his bunk.
He moved slowly, doing his best to get to her stuff and stay as far way from the snake as he could. He wasn't much bigger then she was, he wasn't even sure he was, but he figured the two of them could move her stuff faster than just she could. When she tried to say his name he smiled a little. It was hard for most people to say. Kasia had told him that he should tell people to call him Zack, or even Jac, to make it easier for them. "You can call me Jack. Or Zack. And no it's my first name." he shrugged, eyes down towards the ground. He wanted to point out that she didn't tell him her name yet which meant that her parents hadn't taught her manners. He didn't give it because he was a bit frightened, and he was pretty sure she couldn't use the same excuse.
Her smile looked like he was going to eat him. It made him fear her even more. "Not this camp though. This one is so we can learn..." he said, more to himself than to her. He immediately regretted it though. No need to try and argue with her. It was clear she could eat him for breakfast.
"What's your name? And... Your snakes?" he did have manners. Just very shaky ones.

"Well actually, learning can be done through physical activity. So." Aide didn't actually have much of an idea how you did this, having only picked it up listening in on one of her parent's discussions. Something about muscle memory? Whatever that meant. Putting Yog down, she threw a bag over her shoulder, picking up the cage again. She wasn't past asking for, or demanding help, but she pulled her weight as well. Looking up sharply at the last question, her eyes dug into the boy, trying to see if he actually cared about Yog's name, or was just being polite. "I'm Aide. Eyy-dee. D'you like snakes?" It wasn't a full answer, but she had never actually told any other kid about her pet before summer camp, and her defences were up and bristling. What if she was going to have to explain what the name meant? She guessed it would just frighten him more, so there wasn't much worry there. "It's Yog-Sothoth, Yog to her friends. She doesn't have any enemies." Straightening up, she looked around for the nearest cabin. "Let's try that one!" a pet dino omg i hope you don't mind my replies are so little compared to yours, i'm trying to keep them limited so i don't burn out rofl

That was not the kind of learning that they came for. Or at least he didn't think it was. The way he had it explained to him they would work on their brain. Maybe he was wrong though. Maybe she had been told something that he didn't know. He froze again when the snake was down, only picking up the rest of her things when she had the snake's cage was back in her hands.
As her eyes dug into him he wondered if he had asked the right question. However she did give him her name, which was a start. He said it to himself under his breath, thankful that his accent wasn't as strong as when he first moved to America. The snake question put him in a tight spot, and he wasn't sure what the right answer was. He didn't way to admit he didn't and make her mad, or say that he did and risk the possibility of her trying to hand him the snake. He shivered at the last thought and decided to go with the truth. "No. She... Scares me." He was about to compliment her name when Aide said she didn't have any enemies. The thought that she ate anyone who was almost her enemies popped into his head. He was only taken from the horrible day dream of Yog eating him when Aide suggested a cabin to look into. He nodded, following her dutifully.
amicableAggressor No it's perfect! I only write so much because I feel Zajac doesn't say much and that the more I write the more you have to work with xp

Aide's eye roll at the boy's reply to her snake was all too obvious. Who in their right mind would be scared of Yog? Little babies, that's who. She bet he liked dogs. When they were a million times more dangerous than any snake. Could a snake bite your hand off? No. Could a dog? Yes. Dogs were more dangerous. Case closed. "So why are you here? Did you make a kid's body turn inside out and then explode?" She wasn't sure if that was even possible, but hey! Maybe it was. If not, maybe he'd think that's why -she- was here. Either way, it was a win-win question. Leading the way up the path, she waited 'patiently' for his reply.

Okay so she didn't attack him or yell at him, or even throw Yog at him. That was a really good sign. He continued walking behind her, like a dutiful servant. They were quiet for a second, and he took in the silence, looking around to see if he could see anyone else around. He had gone straight to his own cabin when he got there, so this was kind of the first time he was actually looking around.
When she asked if he made someone explode his eye went wide once again, but this time more in awe than in fear. That was like something that came straight from one of his video games! "I had visions of numbers, and a lot of people won the lotto." he shrugged, well as much as he could with the bags he was carrying. "Did you make someone explode?" he asked, though he was unsure what he wanted the answer to be. It would be kind of cool, though evil, if she could do that but it would also make her even scarier.

Taking refuge in the truth, Aide gave a big exaggerated shrug and gave Zajac a sly, knowing smile. "I'm not allowed to talk about why I'm here." Her parents and teachers had made her promise to not repeat what she had learned. "I have seen some things, though." Well, picked up thoughts and memories. She still technically wasn't lying. Stopping in her tracks, and nearly dropping Yog's cage, Aide resisted the urge to jump and point. "Hey! There's the lake!" Pausing for a few minutes to admire it and let him catch up, she gave it a critical inspection. "Can you swim good, Um?" She grinned around at him. "I can. I hope we get to swim there. I hear the fish are as big as your arm!" Ok, that was definitely a lie. But it was just making things exciting, so there was nothing really bad about it.

She killed someone, or rather she had witnessed a murder and helped hide the body. That was the only explanation his mind could come up with at the moment, though there were plenty of more reasonable ones. With his new found knowledge Zajac slowed down a little, wanting to put a little more distance between the two of them. If he was willing to help her before, that comment made him want to even more, she might kill him next if he didn't comply.
No matter that he had extended the distance between them, Zajac ran right into Aide when she stopped walking. At first he was scared, was this the moment that she decided he wasn't useful anymore and would kill him? Than she opened his mouth and talked about the lake. A sigh of relief escaped his lips before he could stop it.
"I can swim... But if there are big fish in there I don't want to go in... What if... What if they have powers?" he asked, stammering out the last question. She seemed to know a lot more about the place than he did.

Aide rolled her eyes at the question. Of course the fish had powers! "Haven't you even read anything in the camp pamphlet?? This place has been a psychic hotspot for like - a billion years. I bet even the worms here have psychic powers." Aide had read the pamphlet. And had gone with her mother to the library, where they had read old news articles about Whispering Pines, mostly from 'crackpot' magazines full of stories about aliens and bigfoot. Aide had also been given a large stack of True Psychic Tales, and had sat and read them with her father late into the evening. She had ate up every word of every minute, and felt quite prepared now to give Zajac the lecture of his life. "There's all these arrowheads right, that the native people around here made. They're ... magic .... kinda ... ? But like, this special magic moon rock - they give everyone powers. Animals too. That's why our camp is here, cuz this is where the arrowheads come from. Even if your powers were lame and weak back where you came from, andtheyprobablywere, here they'll be way stronger and easier to use. So we can practice with them without kids brains exploding from concentrating too hard." Taking a breath, and about to continue on, Aide paused, distracted by the mental image of a bunch of kids exploding. She wasn't really sure if that's what happened, but it sounded cool.
