User ImageStarlight was a foal obsessed with sound. The howling of the wind, the rustling of trees, the whoosh of the ocean, the tapping of rain - if there was a noise to be heard then she damn well wanted to hear it. When she was young, younger than she was now at least, she had witnessed an angeni mare singing by the cliff edge and since that day the filly had been mesmerized by the sounds that soquili themselves could make. Whispers, screams... song. To her brothers dismay she had began exploring the limits of her vocal cords; pitch, volume - the filly would just suddenly burst out into song, not very well to start with, but she did think she was getting better. Never the less she knew the strain her constant vocal training had on her family, so these days found herself practising by herself. If only she could sing as well as that mare, she was just so lovely, she would never forget her - she was sure of it.

Starlight had been missing in action for a while now, the winter had brought with it cold and the young filly had found herself struck with illness, unable to leave the den in quite some time, it might have been a couple of weeks but to her it felt like wears. Now recovered she found herself wandering through the snow, trying to hunt down a private spot in the forest where she could practise her songs. Her throat was still sore and she was worried about the affect that would have on her music, however she was more scared about the lack of practise she was putting in. She needed to know if the winter had robbed her voice. She really did hate this season, why was her beloved autumn so far away?

Finally she came across a place that seemed quiet enough, she looked around for any sign of life, the lack of prints in the snow was comforting, a sign that nobody had walked through here this morning. She paused for a moment or two, scared to find out how much her progress had deteriorated in the last few weeks. A few deep breaths and a little courage and the filly started to sing:

"Red like roses fills my dreams and leads me to the place you rest..."
