He'd put the notice on Twitter for about an hour or so before he decided to just go down onto the training field anyway. It wasn't going to do him any good to just sit around waiting for things to happen, and he wasn't that type of person anyway.

Around two o'clock, when he'd been training for approximately two hours already, Chance collapsed down onto the grass and lay there sprawled on his back, staring up at the cloudy sky above his head. He supposed he should have thought this through; though his wounds had healed ages ago, he still felt a little sore in places. But it was much preferable to keep moving, so more training it was.

He did think, a little wistfully, that it would have been better if someone had taken him up on his offer to spar, but duty was duty regardless, and Chance drew himself vertical again, dragging a new arrow into the wire string of his bow.

Take two, he thought, and released it.

"Oh good, you're still out here." The voice came from behind the Sun, deep and friendly, if perhaps carrying an ever present hint of self deprecation. Zeke lifted a hand as he approached, smiling. "Thought for sure you'd be long gone by now. No one take you up on your request?" Somehow he found that hard to believe, given what he had come to learn of the island, but he supposed there had to be slow days, even here.

His hand came down to the pendant that lay around his neck, thumb running over the carved runes. "You still looking for a spar?" Cause Zeke could certainly use one. It had been a long a** couple of weeks, and Zeke could benefit from a little physical exertion. Work through the stress he seemed to be carrying.

Wiping his forehead with the back of his hand, Chance turned around, catching a glimpse of an unfamiliar face paired with an unfamiliar voice. The man that stood on the field alongside of him was a little shorter than he was, with auburn hair and a lazy smile that Chance found rather appealing.

"Not today, at least," he answered mildly and smiled, stretching out a hand towards the other.

"I'm Chance, just in case that wasn't clear already," he said, and there was a bandage along the inside of his wrist, taped down along his forearm, but he didn't look as though it hurt. "Thanks for coming out here, I'm definitely still looking for a spar if you are."

"Ezekiel," he said, taking the offered hand and offering a firm shake. Pale gaze dipping to the bandages wrapped around the other man's wrist before twitching back up to Chance's face. "And I'm definitely looking." Another easy grin as he let his hand fall back to his side.

Beside a slight tightness to his eyes, a hollowness that could have easily have been exhaustion(and it was, just not that alone), Zeke looked down right chipper, but he needed the sort of relief a spar had to offer. Long hours in the infirmary would have made the Mist grumpy anyways, but with Ever being hurt and giving him the cold shoulder, it had Ezekiel in a rather testy mood lately. A A little physical exertion was just what the doctor ordered, and taking out some aggression could only be helpful.

So the man took a step back, still smiling, and with flare of blue runes the pendant around his neck disappeared, and a pair of axes formed in his hands.

"So, Chance, How long you been here?"

"A pleasure, Ezekiel," said Chance amiably, and dropped his hand away in order to tug experimentally on the string of his bow. An amused look was flashed towards the other man at the tone of voice, Chance's eyes careful to take in all the details that he could.

"Here on the training field, or here on the island?" he asked lightly, smiled. "On the training field, about two hours. On the island...I lose track of time here, but I think about two or three months-ish? Not very long, I'm afraid, I'm still very much a newbie."

But at least he had some experience so far, even if it wasn't much. Chance gestured grandly towards Ezekiel.

"After you," he said mildly. "You been here a long time?"

"Been up and kicking since the beginning of September," he answered with a half shrug and a small smile that was on the lazy side. Zeke had kept track, though he'd had an exceptionally nice welcome to the island, so it was more than easy to recall the date.

But now it was time to get down to business. The smile hardened, and Ezekiel was moving forward, quick for a guy of his size, with one ax up and ready, swiping down at an angle as he drew near enough to chance the hit.

"So around the same time," said Chance, with an easy smile that almost matched Zeke's in laziness. "It's been quite a whirlwind since I got here, though it's been pretty entertaining in some aspects. A little danger mixed in with some friendly banter and chaos."

Zeke's weapon was, unfortunately for Chance, a close-range one, which would make things more difficult. His first hit was a clean swipe, and Chance winced a little as he tried to dodge, slipping and sliding on the grass as he strung an arrow.

"Nice weapon," he said lightly, and fired off a grazing shot.

"Whirlwind is one way to put it," he agreed, shaking his head as he drew in a breath. Whirlwind was right, life here was filled with lots of ups and downs, admittedly, some higher or lower than others. Like now.

A soft hiss followed the brush of an arrow, but he had to smile at the compliment. "Thanks, though you shouldn't tell her that sort of thing, she's already got a big enough head." Laggy gave a fierce bark of a laugh in his head, thoroughly unperturbed by her partner's comment. There's was a love hate sort of relationship.

"Your's isn't half bad either. Looks like ice."

"Had a good time so far with your stay, here on the illustrious Deus Ex Machina?" Chance asked, a little amused in spite of himself. He glanced at Zeke's weapon and then slid his feet to the side, out of the way of his next swing, which missed entirely.

"Ace here has a relatively big ego too," said Chance cheerfully (Asher made an exasperated noise inside of his head). "But I'm pretty pleased with them anyway. It's been nice having someone to talk to all the time, though admittedly it was a little weird."

He strung another arrow. "That's because it is ice," Chanced replied with a smile as he released a grazing shot. "Ace was a former ice demon, or so they say."

"For the most part." Not as much the last few weeks, but he was hoping that would change soon. A return to the normalcy he'd come to expect would be a welcome one.

Lagertha urged him onward. They were talking far too much in her oh so humble opinion. Not enough fighting, not enough action. Zeke gave a distracted sort of snort as his fingers moved along the worn grips of the axes in his hands. "It can be a weird," he agreed, grinning. "I usually just ignore her. She hates that.

{Pig-headed whelp.}

You love me.

There was no answer to that, merely an annoyed hum before there was nothing but charged silence.

"Doesn't your hand get cold?" He was moving forward again, axes back, and brought them around for a swift strike. The first missed, whizzing past his chest, but the second connected with the other man's shoulder.

Chance had yet to actually be involved in any sort of mission that was serious enough to be influenced by it, which meant his view of the island at present was somewhat skewed. Still, it wasn't as though he didn't expect to be called on missions, it just hadn't happened yet.

He managed to dodge most of Zeke's first swing but caught the second on his shoulder, Chance wincing slightly as he was dragged off balance. Asher made a thrumming noise, and Chance weaseled his way out from beneath the opposing weapon, pulling an arrow into existence.

"Nah," he said. "I like the cold, but even if I didn't, for some reason, Ace here doesn't bother me. It just feels a little cool to the touch, nothing more. And they keep my body temperature down in colder weather, which is pretty handy, I do have to admit."

He strung the arrow, twisted around, and fired.

Zeke's experience with hard missions was all second hand. He himself hadn't faced anything too haunting. The Sahara had been tiresome, the giant sand worm had been frightening, but everyone had returned from that adventure more or less fine, and his welcome back had been enough to chase away anything that might have lingered, mentally. Personally, Zeke was fine, but the people around him, namely one in particular, kept managing to land himself in trouble. It was why he seemed a little on the strained side now, along with all the hours they had him working in the infirmary.

He followed Chance's movements as he slipped out from beneath the ax and loaded an arrow, and he tried to dodge as that arrow was released, but fast as he was, it just wasn't fast enough. It nailed him in the shoulder, rocked him back, and he gave a pained hiss as he straightened.

"That does sound handy. So is your charge elemental as well then?" Lagertha gave an interested hum, swelling up within Zeke's mind as the hunter went for another strike.

He hit, and hard, and the valkyrie gave a delighted screech as she drank down the fear, and Zeke felt the rush that meant his weapon had a charge ready for him, blue runes giving a soft pulse, eager.

Chance supposed that the incident with the Horseman had been bad enough; after all, it had landed not just himself, but Ripley as well in the infirmary, accompanied by a very irate Finn. But other than that, no missions that involved a great deal of people had occurred.

(Maybe he'd luck out and not have to deal with one, but at the same time, he thought it might be a little boring.)

Chance dragged another arrow into existence, tapping it idly against one of his legs. "Kind of?" he said thoughtfully. "More like...it's just a rainfall of arrows, not sure if they have anything to do with the ice demon thing. I guess they're kind of cold."

As though to test this out, with Asher thrumming patiently, Chance directed his bow towards Zeke, tugged back the string, and fired. The arrow whistled through the air, splintered down the middle, and snapped apart into several more arrows, all aiming towards the other man.

"Kind of like that."

Warily Zeke paused, curiosity now piqued, dangerously. He had yet to meet another hunter who's charge was purely elemental like his own, and if Chance's was he wanted to see it.

It made him slow to defend himself as the arrow was loosed. Attention rapt, until one became two, and then many, and every single one was whistling through the air towards him. "s**t." Too slow he tried to avoid it, but they hit, every single one, exploding on impact in a chilly burst that felt as though it should have had his breath fogging as he exhaled, staggering backward.

"Close," he answered, straightening with a wince. "But not quite."

{Boil, show him the storm.}

Gladly.

"More like this." Blue runes flashed brightly, and Lagertha gave a loud whoop in his head as he brought both ax's back, over his head, and on a single, heavy step forward, he brought them down at an arch. It wasn't the physical attack that Chance's was, but powerful blast of swirling wind that tore at the grass between them and hit like a mild hurricane on impact.

He thought he'd done pretty well with his charged attack, considering he'd only used it once or twice before. Chance felt Asher's approving cold spread throughout him, and he let it settle into his bones (pun not intended), relishing in the little sensation of satisfaction that stemmed from it.

Chance smiled.

Zeke's axes swung up, and Chance barely had time to move, let alone dodge completely. The guest of wind slammed into him, and he staggered backwards, feet slipping and sliding on the grass, until his legs gave away entirely and down he went. The breath knocked out of him, it took him a good minute to drag in enough air to regulate his breathing again, and Chance sat up, running a hand through his curls.

"Wow," he said with a wheezing laugh. "That was really damn cool. Color me impressed."

He pulled himself to his feet and slid an arrow into the wire of his bow, pulling back on it as he aimed towards Zeke.
