Name: Mei
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Straight
Rank: Greenrider
Former Craft: Shopkeep/Apprentice Glassworker

Personality: She is proud, but not in the sense that many girls get with a life of privilege, where entitlement seems to be given to them along with the silver spoon in their mouth. Instead, she is proud of what she is and what she stands for; the ordinary person, from an ordinary family with a humble job. She is proud that during her lifetime, she has tended a field, and then worked behind a counter selling wares to people who deem themselves better than her, yet went away with the worse end of the deal. She prides herself on her perceived ability to adapt to anything, and be happy doing it.

She is in love with nature, and prefers to be surrounded by it when possible. Stuffy cot holds and stone walls make her long for her childhood home, to run through the fields and hide within the fruit trees. Her childhood dream was to own a fire lizard, though she could never afford to buy an egg, nor could she get to the beaches often enough to search for one. Dragons on the other hand, are huge and terrifying, no matter how much she finds them beautiful. There is one animal she fears more than anything, and that would be runner beasts.

The way Mei comes off to a person is often that of professionalism, though her countryside dialect tends to cut through any level of formality she puts forward. It is important to Mei that she presents herself as at the very least, intelligent and able to take care of herself. She sometimes overcompensates with a bit of bravado, wanting to be a tough and independent woman, but often unsure of how to show it. When one is able to get her to become more casual, she tends to be curious and amiable, eager to exchange information and recount old stories.

Personality Summary: Proud, hard working, places value on 'the common man', eager to prove herself

Physical Description: Mei is a short creature, she's 5'0" and demure in size as well, though it has more to do with bone structure than actual lack of weight. In fact, she's been well fed all of her life; she's actually taller than her mother. In descent, her skin tone and face shape tells of asian and perhaps a touch of African lineage, with a small face and mono lidded dark, nearly black eyes. Her lips, rarely painted, are full and compact, which belies just how loud her mouth can actually be. Black, curly hair is pulled back more often than not, but freshly washed and hanging loose, it hangs past her shoulders. Overall, she could be considered almost pretty, if it wasn't for the fact that her ears are large and stick out a bit from her head.

History: Mei was born in a small cot hold on the outskirts of Ista Hold, where she lived with her family that counted almost all of her relatives within a five mile radius where they all cooperatively worked the plot of land, planting fruits and various grains. The amount of people what were relatives to her in this large farm far outnumbered anyone who could be considered a viable suitor. Well, not anyone who wasn't at least a fourth cousin.

She lived there peacefully enough, having lived practically in the fields since her mother carried Mei on her back while she worked. Her studies were attended to during the evenings, often scrawling out numbers and letters on wax board by candlelight. Mei woke up with was melted onto the side of her face on more than one occasion. Regardless of her occasional lapses in study, Mei genuinely enjoyed her studies. When she was young, she'd often voiced that she'd one day be able to run the goods carts herself, learning the trade of bartering so that she could get only the best deals, and make enough money for her family to be prosperous. As she grew older, her father made it obvious that he'd never elect a girl to run such an errand when he could send a man who'd have a much stronger presence.

Mei is the oldest of six children, and one of only two girls. Because of this, one could say that resources were scarce. When Mei was 13 turns old, it was obvious that feeding so many children would be too much. The oldest son was sent with the harpers to become an apprentice within the trade, and thus Mei was also sent off… though not with the harpers. Mei's father had a friend within the major hold that owned a glass-blowing shop where he made everything from glass panels to finely stemmed wine glasses. They had a son, but no other children. It was rather obvious that they sent Mei there in the hopes the two children would somehow take a liking to one another.

From then till she was 18 turns old, Mei worked at the shop, often working the front counter when no one else was available. Working with others was her strong suit, and eventually became a full time employee. It would be ironic that she'd learn her bartering skills here, away from her father's scrutinizing eye. Now, if only she can somehow dodge this marriage her family is attempting to put her into
