* - As a newbie recruited through Newbie Net, you're entitled to one free, normal-colored, fully-evolving starter Pokémon if you'd like one! This option includes Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie - basically, all of the starter Pokémon except the ones from Gen 4, since those aren't available yet. If none of these Pokémon are to your taste, you're certainly not required to accept! In fact, you don't need to own a Pokémon at all before you begin to play, but you'll be limited to a civilian character - neither a member of Team Rocket nor an active League trainer - until you get a Pokémon.
From this point, you'll be ready to make your character and jump into RP. If you spend the next six months playing and developing your character, there's another reward to earn! What you need is at least one character journal and at least six complete** RPs all within the span of six months. That's only one RP per month! If you have all that, you can redeem it for one free, non-legendary, fully-evolving, uniquely-colored Pokémon, or one free Mega Stone.
** - By the shop's standard, a completed RP is at least 2 pages (15 posts) in length.

Regardless of which prize you chose, a staff member will either get in touch with you with a WIP of your custom Pokémon, or they'll drop off your new Mega Evolved Pokémon in the shop thread.
