The light of dawn glimmered gold over the ocean ripples like a thin coating of gilded paint. Lithian sat at the edge of his shared mattress, one leg tucked beneath him and the other hanging loose over the lip, toes to the varnished wooden floors below and his eyes on the morning. He’d risen early, as per habit, and spread the two doors and curtains that opened out onto their deck, and the ocean beyond. Said curtains now caught the warm, incoming gusts like lacy sails, and behind him, Casseth lay sprawled on his portion of the mattress: fast asleep as was his custom, with the sheets tangled loosely between his legs. Wholly unappreciative of the intricacies of morning and its soft, salty sea breezes.
Lithian glanced over his shoulder to eye his lover, gaze tracing the familiar dips and rises — the knots of dark muscle and swaths of coarse, burnished gold scales, the mismatched tattoos on his back and the dusty blonde spread of his hair — and he smiled.
Spurned half by the sort of inspiration that tends to fill most men in the earlier hours upon waking and half by a simple want for contact, he shifted across the mattress, moving over to lean close, and dip down. He pressed a kiss to Casseth’s bicep, to his shoulder, to the niche where his clavicle met his throat and then up. Arranging himself and encouraging Casseth’s sleeping body over onto his back, Lithian settled atop his lover’s hips, curled his toes, and leaned in, hair spilling loose over Casseth’s chest as he caught him in a soft, open, and encouraging kiss.
“Casseth…” he murmured against Cas’ mouth, nibbling at his lips as he went, “…it’s morning…” He let his kisses shift and slip, trailing down the edge of Cas’ jawline and up to start tracing the shape of his ear. “I’m lonely…and bored…” Catching to tip of Cas’ ear between his lips, his smile spread, eyes dancing with amusement though Casseth was not likely conscious enough yet to notice it even if he could have seen it. “We should go fishing.”

Casseth was only barely aware of the light kisses to his skin. When Lith rolled him over and climbed atop him, Cas’ eyes opened to half mast just in time to see Lith’s blue hair fall around him and him leaning down. Cas’ eyes shut again as he kissed back, eager despite the early morning hour. Lithian sure knew the best way to wake him up and Casseth never grew tired of it. His hands found their way to Lith’s hips as his lover nipped at his lips. “Mmm...yes, morning…” Came the murmured response. He really did prefer to sleep through the morning most times.
As Lith’s kisses shifted and moved, so did Casseth’s fingers. Up and up they trailed along Lith’s sides until he was slipping his arms around Lith’s neck and tangling his fingers into his hair. He groaned at the n** to his ear, hips arching up as he tugged at Lith’s hair. Cas pulled him away from his ear and then tugged him down for a more thorough kiss. He shifted his weight and rolled and ended with Lithian on his back. Cas took hold of his wrists and pinned them above Lith’s hands.
“You woke me for fishing?” He raised an eyebrow as his tail trailed down Lith’s leg. Cas Leaned down and kissed the spot just under Lith’s ear. “And here I thought you’d given in.” A small smirk flit onto Cas’ lips just before he nipped at Lith’s ear lobe. “Shame.”

Lithian shivered, lashes flitting low as Cas pinned him and pulse thrumming in his wrists, eager and responsive. He lifted his hips.
“I—ah…” Swallowing and notching his legs a fraction wider to better accommodate Cas as he ground upwards, he nodded. “That was…the idea, but my legs are always open — to, er…other suggestions, if you were feeling like back—” His lashes fell shut at the n** of Casseth’s teeth, own lip disappearing between his as he did. “Mm…backing out. Or my mouth. It’d happily—mmm…” Catching Cas in a kiss, Lithian trailed off, briefly, before continuing. “I’m sure it could find a way to entertain us both…and you wouldn’t want me to fall out of practice, you know…I might forget how.”

Casseth paused at Lithian’s words, almost half tempted to give up and fail at the challenge. The prospect of Lith’s mouth around him aroused him further than he already was. He snorted at Lith’s last choice of temptation. “You wouldn’t forget and if you did...” Another n** at Lith’s lips before Cas pulled away. “...we would just have to reteach you, wouldn’t we?” He grinned as he moved from off top of Lith and sat on the edge of the bed. “Fishing, hm? It’s been a while.” He glanced out towards the ocean and tilted his head. The large rock platform, Cas has created, could be seen from where he sat. “Sounds like fun,” Cas said as he looked back at Lith and grinned.

Lithian hummed, pulse taking a happy hop at the suggestion of being re-‘taught’ how to perform some now very familiar techniques, his cheeks warming to a pleasant flush while the rest of his blood pooled notably lower. Then—
Casseth was pulling way.
Lithian whined, arching at first into the space Casseth vacated and then degrading into garbled fussing against the sheets. As Casseth moved to the edge of the bed and sat, Lithian’s gaze trailed down, down and lingered stubbornly on his backside until he glanced back around at him. Lithian curbed the urge to pout — only half managing not to — and hummed disgruntledly.
“Yes,” he murmured, “…fishing…fun.” Then, with a shake of the head he pushed upwards, leaned over to press a fleeting kiss to the small of Cas’ back before slipping off the bed and moving to fetch his clothes. After selecting a loose, comfortable set of slacks and pulling into them, he reached for his brush. “It has been a while,” he admitted, smiling in spite of himself as the disappointment of his lack of prospects for the morning shifted into genuine thoughts of activities for the day. His fingers moved instinctively through his hair, taming it into braids after he finished brushing. “Maybe we can discuss some other activities, if you’re planning on holding out for a while…something to distract the both of us so we can enjoy ourselves.”

Casseth remained on the bed, gaze riveted to Lith as he watched his lover dress and fix his hair. He ran a hand, absently, through his own hair. He raised an eyebrow as he finally pushed himself out of bed and retrieved his own clothes. “Mmm, like what?” He pulled his pants and a loose fitting tunic on and moved over to Lith. “Swimming naked in the ocean?” Cas asked as he moved up behind Lith and tugged at one of his braids. “Bundled up close in a cave on Aisko, with only one way to keep warm?” He kissed Lith’s shoulder, smirking against his skin as his arms wrapped around Lith’s waist. “Or how about breakfast, out on the deck, to start the day off? Hmm?”

“Mmmm…ah—breakfast,” Lithian said, words airy and half breathless as he leaned back into Casseth’s hold. Lacing their fingers together, he smiled and leaned around just enough to catch his intended in a kiss. “I love you. Come.” He kissed his cheek. “You can help me prep something.”
Together, they did. Cooking had never been a distinct skill set of Lithian’s, but he’d found that living on his own with another — separate from family and without any servants to tend to such things — it became a necessary learning experience, and between the two of them, somehow, they managed. After a simple but filling breakfast, the two set out into the water and the miniature earthen ‘island’ Casseth had created out there, relaxing on the rock and ‘fishing’ — a process which, for the most part, involved Lithian finding and lifting several unfortunate fish up from the body of the ocean and onto their tanning rock.
As one such ill-fated fish flopped about atop the rock, Lithian glanced over to eye his companion. “You know I would like to travel with you…or do something simpler, in the area. Find a festival and go dancing, or a place that serves better food than we do and enjoy a meal out…something with just us.”

Casseth laughed, smile spreading across his face as Lithian ‘fished’. He sat there, eyes riveted to his lover and every movement that he made. It made him remember back to Aisko, to when they had first met and spent a few days sneaking off together. Never in his life had he imagined that friendship would have ended up as it was now. The only thing he regretted, about it, was that he hadn’t realized just how deep his feelings for his best friend had been. It took knowing another man was touching him, doing things with him, for Cas to come to the realization that his love for his best friend was more.
Cas was remembering their first kiss when Lithian glanced his way. His tilted his head as Lith spoke about traveling. It had been a while since they’d been on an adventure and even then, it hadn’t been all that relaxing. It seemed as if all the adventures Cas wanted to go on, always got them into trouble. His brows pinched together as he remembered their time on Aisko and how terrified the small space had made Lithian. It was one of the reasons their house was so open. He never wanted to make Lith feel so trapped again.
He pushed the thoughts out of his head and forced a smile back onto his face, not wanting to make Lith think he was upset or didn’t want to do the things he was suggesting. Cas moved over behind Lith, arms wrapping around his waist and tugging him back. “Mmm..dancing sounds nice.” He kissed along Lith’s shoulder and to his neck, pressing a lingering kiss just below his ear. “We can go and do whatever you like, Lithian.”
