Sh*t happened.

It wasn't usually ideal for sh*t to happen, but sometimes it couldn't be avoided.

Anyone could start sh*t, but not everyone could see their sh*t through to the end.

Such was the reason why Ellie Spectre had ended up finding herself at Noah's front door. At first, there was a bit of hesitance as she held her hand just an inch away from the door, ready to knock. She held her breath in her chest, eyes closed as she thought over the words she wanted to say. However, the so-called words were nothing more than a sort of white noise at that moment. She only started to breathe again when her lungs were starting to burn.

As her eyes popped open, her hand lashed forward to knock against the wood of the door. Doorbells were not her style.

Now, the first few minutes, the blonde assumed that Noah was ignoring her, which led to her pounding on the door repeatedly.

However, when she got to approximately 10 minutes, that was when she realized that the man wasn't even home.

Rather than leave, the blonde sat herself down in front of his door and waited. A bit less than 2 hours later, the familiar sound of a motorcycle approaching caught her ears.

"...F*cker's finally back..." she murmured as she moved to get up.

Noah hadn't had a great day at work, mostly because he was distracted and he really couldn't afford to be. The books didn't look good, and his business tactic of trying to handle everything himself was starting to crash into the ground. The stress was eating him alive, the business needed more attention than ever, and he couldn't even keep his attention on it for 30 seconds because magical ullshit would not go away and leave him in peace.

He was trying to work up the effort to be in denial about his snapping at Zia, and the way his anger bubbled over in the way it used to, and how much like their father he must've looked like when he gave in to the urge to grab her and shake her like a ragdoll. He wasn't proud of it. In fact, he had been sick over it. He was trying not to be sick over it, and then he just kind of felt like a scumbag.

He was distracted with all of it when he rolled up to the driveway of his home, the old house he had bought as a fixer upper with the intention of restoring it, only to never have the time or the money or needing to do something else. Now that was becoming a sore point too and just a reminder of how everything was going to hell.

He was grumbling something to himself about it was he took off his helmet in mid-stride to the door when he stopped and stared at the blonde waiting for him there.

"Not in the mood, Ellie," He grunted, moving past her to unlock the door.

Ellie's face had been quite neutral as he had passed by her. She wasn't expecting an enthusiastic reception in all honesty, considering she had technically beat on his little sister. No matter how deserving that b*tch was of the face pounding she received, it didn't make it a touchy subject she imagined.

She scratched the back of her head as she looked at the back of his head as he moved to unlock the door. "I ain't surprised ya think I'm 'ere t'give ya a hard time..." She'd have to be living in a cave to not realize she had a reputation of being an absolute pain in the side.

"I just wanted t'talk... and t'apologize fer how sh*t went down... I get it if ya want yer space... but who th'hell are ya gonna talk to in that house 'bout this sh*t?"

"Ya got nothing to really apologize for," Noah muttered, slamming the door open. He didn't technically invite her, but he didn't tell her to get lost and he left the door wide open behind him.

The inside was a bit dim, with the curtains drawn and not too many lights even when Noah flipped the switch on. A lot of his stuff was still packed in boxes from moving, although the kitchen had been lovingly restored and the dining room had received similar treatment. It was a small glimmer of warmth in the large and still very unfinished and unpacked house.

It hadn't changed much since that Thanksgiving last year with Lily and Xander, but back then it had kind of been a hopeful sign of potential. Now it was just a sad homage to stagnation.

"Look, what's between you guys is between you guys, I don't want to know and I don't really care," He said, setting his helmet down and shedding his jacket as he went about what seemed to be a normal routine that wasn't being halted because Ellie just happened to be here. "It's probably best if I stay out of it from now on."

The tomboy wasn't a vampire, but at the same time, she did sometimes have a sense of manners. So rather than actually follow him in the house right away like she owned the place (like a certain guy's younger sister did), she lingered at the open doorway. Leaning against the door frame, she glanced in before crossing her arms.

"It ain't jus' that, Noah! I'm sorry I forgot t'remind ya t'power down before dealin' with yer sister. Heat of th'moment an' all..." She sighed before turning to stare almost blankly in front of her at the other side of the doorway.

Ellie had sense enough to power down before pursuing Zia. The last thing she needed to do was accidentally pop another person's head off by accident.

"I shouldn't need reminders," Noah snapped back. It wasn't like anyone hadn't ever seen him as moody, but he rarely had it in him to be snappy or this aloof. Noah usually came across as too tired to keep up a prickly appearance, even if he wasn't a doormat in his natural state of being.

"I shouldn't even be in a place where that's necessary. No one should solve their problems by putting hands on people, I just," He ran his hands through his hair and stopped to exhale a long sigh.

He glanced over and did a double take before rolling his eyes and turning away to busy himself with something else.

"Will you get your a** in here and shut the door? Neighbors talk out here."

Now that she had permission, the girl pushed herself up from the door frame and practically rolled to facing the door to close it.

"...They're gonna talk anyways... I'm 21... yer not..." A girl her age at a guy his age's place at this time of day didn't lend well to the gossip train.

Spinning on the ball of her foot, she then wandered closer to where Noah was busying himself. However, she stopped when there was a 5 foot gap between them, just crossing her arms where she stood.

"Yer not gonna like hearin' this from me... but yer sister is beyond reasoning at this point. She legitimately seems to think that her sh*t isn't botherin' anybody else... when it is. She thinks that if you don't know about what she's doin'... that yer not involved. It's a childish way of thinkin'... it's a f*ckin' war... yer gonna be involved just because she is."

With a finger, the blonde pointed to her nose, which sported some minor bruising. "Moment she took that first punch... reasonin' went out th' window... you might not agree with me... and that's okay... but ya did what ya needed t'do at that point. Don't beat yerself up over it..."

Noah gave Ellie a half lidded stare of total unamusement before he rolled not just his eyes, but his whole head in a dramatic groan of disgust. "I meant about talking about that powered up s**t, no one thinks that, for ******** sake.

At least that is what he naively assumed on account of being old enough to be her dad.

"I think she knows her s**t is bothering other people," He muttered, trying to clean up so he didn't have to be idle during their conversation. "She just thinks she can bargain her way out with a little bit of expense."

Although he looked up and his expression was one of someone completely tired of s**t. "It's a stupid mirror, it's got nothing to do with our war. She's not at war with anyone herself." Be he paused and his brow furrowed as he thought about it. "I.. uh... is she?"

"...yer right... maybe that mirror has jacksh*t t'do with the war. However... it might mean more than even Zia could understand in th'war."

Ellie did not seem bothered by the fact Noah was doing something to keep himself occupied. It was his place, if he wanted to act like a sissy and clean the place, that was his business. In a slow tone, the tomboy continued. "Your sister is not directly aligned with any faction... as far as I know... but that being said, all it takes is for her to screw over the one wrong person..."

The blonde's voice dwindled briefly as she seemed to try and piece together an explanation. "Neutrality... can be an excellent weapon, or it can lead to ruination... I do not think yer sister... is doing this in the efforts to help out any war efforts... she's doin' this just fer herself and nobody else. Ya tell the wrong Nega or the wrong Senshi that yer not on their side, but not on the opposing side... well... they may consider ya pickin' th'other side since ya outright didn't pick their side either."

She shrugged before just wandering off towards the entrance to the next room, trying to give the man a bit of room as he gussied up his place.

"...Maybe ya wanna take a chance on that wild card and hope fer th'best... it'd be nice if this was fer nothin'... but... I'd rather be proactive than sit 'round and jus' wait fer everythin' t'go t'sh*t..."

Noah had a box in his hands by the time Ellie gave her speech, and when she finished, he slammed it down and pointed to the door.

"Get out. You have no ******** idea what you're talking about. At some point it stops being about war and it starts being about my family. You don't get to make choices on what the right thing is, you have no idea. I'm all full up on listening to you like you're not just some dumb kid who thinks they're a badass because they've seen this war s**t."

He didn't wait to see her leave, and instead, walked down the hallway and slammed the door. His aggressive gait and tone implied he didn't want to see her there when he came back, though.

"F*ckin' idiot..."

Noah was practically already out of the room after his tantrum, but Ellie hadn't budged an inch. She shifted her stance until her arms were crossed. She spoke, though it was clearly out of a need to speak, rather than a need to be heard.

"...I know exactly what I am talking about... I saw my whole world killed from our belief in neutrality. It wasn't just seeing strangers die, it was seeing my whole family, my whole life slain because of a neutral stance on war."

With a quick glance, she managed to find a pad of sticky notes and a pen haphazardly tossed towards the side of the stash. Loosening up her position once more, she moved towards the stash, murmuring "It isn't about war OR family... both go hand in hand, whether you like it or not."

With pen in hand, she wrote the resident a note, then stuck it on the door as she left.

"D*ckface ~
Here's my number if anything goes down.
~ Ellie"
