 The rumours of a mysterious new herd had reached his ears. They had appeared seemingly out of nowhere, setting up camp not far from where he was. Voices on the wind whispered of their bizarre nature, how they all wore strange apparel and would seemingly disappear right before your eyes and how some seemed to have a much darker nature lurking beneath them... And of course, Andrus couldn't resist stepping closer to hear them out. Who were these strange ponies? Where had they come from? He didn't know what it was, but an intense fascination had gripped him from the first moment he'd heard about them. And so it was that he had set out towards their last known location, hoping to catch them, but just knowing that with his luck, they'd likely have left already.

 Sunshine peeked out from behind the rock, eyeing up the stranger. He didn't look hostile, not at all, but she'd had enough encounters that had been... less than pleasant with seemingly harmless individuals. The herd had only just stumbled upon these lands recently, and had been surprised to find it quite so populated. They had drawn a lot of attention, mostly from curious travellers who had stumbled upon their herd lands. But he was coming closer and closer towards the main herd lands, and it was her duty to be on guard that day. She had to do something! Giving him one last eye, she decided to trust her judgement. He didn't seem dangerous, and he certainly wasn't one of the ones who hunted them. Bouncing out from behind her boulder, she let out a happy giggle. "Greetings, traveller! Welcome to the lands of the Herd of Day and Night!" She bent down onto one knee, dropping her head to the ground in a deep bow. Wary she may be, but curtesy was absolutely essential when inviting others into her lands.

The mare was like a ghost. He didn't hear her, didn't see her, until she magically appeared right in front of him. His voice hitched in his throat with surprise as he stumbled backwards. How did she do that? Who was she? Could she be one of those twisted individuals he'd heard so much about? He eyed her carefully, but she was already dropping into a low bow, her muzzle bending down to almost touch the ground in a carefully practiced manner. Her greeting rang out true and clear, and he felt some of his tension ease.
In fact, a deep hunger awoke within him. He'd found it! The herd was here, he hadn't missed them at all. Who were they exactly? What were they doing here? "Osiyo, miss!" A ray of sunlight broke through the cloudy sky above, shining like a dagger straight through the mare. Andrus' eyes shot open as the beam revealed the mare for what she truly was, spreading straight through her body and hitting the ground on the other side. She was... transparent? How could that be? Was she truly a ghost? He gulped, the rumours rising back into his mind. Twisted, dark-hearted Soquili, deceiving others into their herd's lands. Some who came to visit the herd had never returned... But Andrus couldn't help but be drawn to this mysterious person. Maybe it was his own cursed reputation, or maybe it was her warm and genuine welcome - but he did not feel that she was as dark as the rumours made out to be.

The mare gave the stallion a wide smile, pale eyes peeking out from underneath her luminescent mane. She was used to their strange reactions, many of her fellow herd-members were somewhat... unusual, it was probably the reason why so many were being drawn to them. Ever since they had found these lands, new visitors sat around their fires every night, sharing their food and listening to their stories.
Slowly perking her ears up, she tilted her head to one side curiously. "Oh-si-yo?" Her mouth formed the unfamiliar sounds, "What does this mean?" She let out a quiet giggle, taking a step towards him. "Please do not fear me, I mean you no harm." Her voice was warm and friendly, ending in a high-pitched trill much like that of a song-bird. "Have you come seeking our lands? I must warn you stranger, though you will be welcome to stay, our herd is hunted and if you proceed you may not be safe. But should you wish, you may come and share our food and tales." Ghostly eyes stared into his own luminescent orbs, "You would be most welcome."
