Sneaking into the Destiny City Library was one of those things that had actually been on Liryn's list of things to do a while, but it had ended up being pushed down the list for various reasons.

There had been the search for his senshi reason and the out on patrol reason. Then (after hooking up with the PSSG), there had been the settling in with a new team reason - in short there had always been some sort of something's come up reason - at least until tonight.

Tonight Liryn decided was going to be the night - tonight was going to be the night that he finally did it.

His goal was to be the library's audio book section, his plan being to look over which audio books the library had on offer.

Because to Liryn audio books were pretty much one of the best inventions ever and meant that he got to read stuff without the difficulties posed by trying to read conventional books - conventional cat unfriendly books.

And although living with Orah and Arian was wonderful, the two of them didn't really have much in the way of audio books.

Which is why the little tabby bobtail was near the main steps of the library at late o'clock as he contemplated the best way to go about sneaking in.

At least he was up until to the point when a sudden strong aura pinging on his senses distracted him. It wasn't the strong aura of an eternal, but rather blazing strong, blazing strong like the aura that he'd come across once before back at the park on that day back in August, when Vespa had chosen to purify.

No, it's good! =D

The Royal Knight always started his patrols from the library roof top, and before that he usually spent a little time at the library while powered, in case anyone wanted to come and find him. It was common knowledge these days that this was his chosen place to work from, though few actually knew it was because he was also the head librarian of the place. Thankfully, the glamour that protected his civilian identity made that rather simple leap of logic seem impossible.

At first he had been worried about how subtle it was, but in the years since he started his endeavors as a knight he had learned that he, and his family, were at least safe from their identities being found out through conventional means. He just had to make sure no one saw him powering up or down, which had become a rather common place habit now.

He was actually inside the library when he powered up this time, and he wondered if he had locked the front doors before starting his powered night. He could not shake the feeling, so he went to double check, finding the inner set of doors was still unlocked. Moving out into the large, circular entry way and then to the outer doors, he gave them a tug and found them, at least, to be firmly locked.

And there was a kitty sitting on his front step, but not a normal one. He could recognize a guardian cat from a mile away, even without cheating. He waved, then motioned frantically as he moved back inside the library and came back with a spare set of keys. He unlocked the door and held it open, offering a goofy smile to Liryn.

"Hello there."

Liryn was so caught up in trying to find out where the big-huge aura was coming from that it was only when he heard the sound of something opening in the library that he realised that the library wasn't as empty as he thought and it was too late to get off the library door steps by the time that he realised that something was approaching the outer doors to the library.

Not that it mattered, Liryn was perfectly able to play 'normal' cat when he needed to and given that a person unknown appeared to be heading in his direction he was also willing to do so - besides if he played his paws right then he might net a few scritches into the bargain and scritches were always good.

It was the best plan he decided right up until it was derailed by way of the Knight that peered down at him from behind the closed doors.

And not just any Knight either - it was the Knight with the crazy huge aura and the very fluffy cloak that had been there on the day that Vespa had purified.

Recognition and curiosity had kept him on the steps as the Knight disappeared into the library and although he hadn't been expecting the Knight to open the doors up for him, it hadn't stopped him from taking up the invitation and padding through the opened door - after all he had planned on getting into the library anyway and the Knight was saving him a sneak in job.

"Hi, thanks for opening up the door for me" his voice was cheerful as he returned the Knight's greeting padding further down the corridor so that he was out of the outer door aura before turning to look at the Knight. "I remember you from the end of the Summer, although I didn't manage to get your name. Or at least Liryn didn't think that he'd managed to get the Knight's name and if he had then he'd managed to forget it - although that was hardly surprising given everything that had been going on at the time.

"Not a problem," Camelot said with a laugh, watching the little cat as he padded in. There was still something novel and, well, adorable about talking to a cat, and having it talk back. He knew he should not be surprised that they were all so strong in personality and each so different, but he could not help the delight he got whenever he met a new Guardian Cat.

They were just so great.

If only there were guardian corgis...

"Ah, I am Camelot. I think I remember you, as well," he chuckled, moving over to the front desk. He imagined the cat could get up where ever he wanted, so he did his best not to be overbearing and pick Liryn up. It would just be an excuse, really.

"What brings you to the library tonight, then? You weren't looking for me for any help, were you?" It was always his first instinct. If someone was at the library, he generally assumed they were there because they needed his help or wanted him for something, and he was always happy to do whatever he could. Even those that did not know him personally could find out where to find him, after all.

He was not shy about that.

"Nice to meet you Camelot" Liryn said, purplish eyes taking a few moments to glance at the shelves of books about him before he padded over to the front desk after the Knight.

He waited until he had leapt up onto the surface before answering the other's question, his purplish gaze turning to focus on the Earth Knight.

"Actually I've been meaning to visit the library for a while" he admitted. "Because of the audio books" he continued, adding "I wanted to have a look at what books were here."

Not that he'd seen any audio books on his way over to the front desk, but Liryn knew they must be somewhere and there were loads and loads of books. He gave Camelot a cheerful cat smile "I didn't think there'd be anyone in the library this late though."

His gaze and voice turned curious "By the way what sort of Knight are you? I've never met one with an aura as strong as yours." Not that he'd actually met that many Knights, but to him that was besides the point given that none of the other Knights he'd come across boasted an aura so strong.

(Don't worry, I'm always around! =D )

"We actually have a pretty good collection, if I do say so myself. I think you might find a few things you like, and of course, we can order anything specific if another one of our sister libraries has it available through our sharing program."

It was all too easy for him to slip into work mode, and recite the same things he said to customers and patrons of the library on a day to day basis. He was always looking to help anyone that walked into the library, and he supposed that instinct did not fade just because he was powered up. Maybe it would if it was a nega or someone he could not trust with hints about his identity, but with a Guardian Cat he felt pretty secure.

He would rather his team members know who he was and how to find him, in case anyone on the White Moon side of thing, regardless of technical faction, could come to him for help.

"Ah, I'm what they call a Royal Knight. I'm a rank higher than the normal Knights, sort of like the Senshi's Princesses, I would suppose. I probably should not be powered up in here, drawing who knows what kind of attention, but then, I have well established this place as my stomping grounds, so I doubt anyone will come looking for trouble."

That was one good thing about his aura, at least. Most Chaos folks knew better than to come at him alone, so he did not have to worry about drawing unfavorable attention, though he did worry about group attacks or some sort of organized assault. It had not happened yet, but he knew that it could.

"That's great" Liryn said and it really was, because it was possible that if the library selection was as big as Camelot words were suggesting that he might be able to find a few on clocks so that he could get some ideas on new things to try out on Athene's alarm clock - particularly if there were any of the DIY variety amongst the library stock. "I'll have to tell Snowball about the books too" because the fluffy white mauvian had mentioned wanting to check out the library too on their last meeting.

His expression turned thoughtful when Camelot voiced his title, a thoughtfulness that reflected in his voice as he repeated the title, although the words didn't seem to be aimed at the Knight. Camelot had mentioned being sort of similar to a senshi Princess and he could kind of see that given the strength of the other's aura.

Although trying to mentally superimpose Camelot with the one Princess that he knew of wasn't really working for him. Although that might have had something to do with the fact that - super large auras aside - Camelot and the princess with the rainbow that had helped him save Athene from Atë didn't really strike him as being that similar.

And whilst senshi Prince rather than senshi Princess might have been the comparator given that at least (in this case) there would be gender in common - to Liryn it was an instant and very emphatic mental 'no-no' - because the only senshi Prince that he knew of was Prince Castor and the least said or (again in this case) thought the better.

He stretched, voice back to cheerful as he once again looked at Camelot "I'll have to admit that the library is the last place that I would have expected to find a knight though, although I'm glad that you were the one to find me rather than a late night library worker because I would have had to play cat otherwise."

It hadn't occurred to him that Camelot might just so happen to be Knight and late night library worker both.

"Of course! I imagine I'll need to start setting up a cat friendly section of the library, for ease of access for you guys," he smiled, sounding like he was joking, but he was exactly the kind of guy who would go through efforts to make life even a little easier for someone. And a mauvian, in cat form, probably had a bit of a difficult time with most bookshelves.

He laughed, nodding his head at the cat's comments about his choice of location. True enough, knights were not known to protect libraries, of all places, but he was most certainly dedicated to his place of work. The library had become much more than that, anyway.

"Actually, this is where I work, so uh. You would have found me either way. I imagine you're trustworthy with information like that, hm?" After all, cats were responsible for awakening senshi. If they could not be trusted with identities, who could?

Camelot liked to make sure those on his side, whether knights or senshi, knew where to find him, and sometimes that meant telling them who he was as a civilian. With his family in mind, he did not take the risk as much as he used to, but he was still available and did what he could to be there for anyone that might need him.

For important, or less than important, things.

"A cat friendly section with audio books would be really neat" Liryn said. "Because audio books are much easier on the paws than normal books." After all it was easier to drop the cd into the player (or get one of the resident humans to do so) than it was to try to fiddle with book pages. "But it's not really necessary" after all he'd had a glance at the book cases and although it would be a bit of a scrabble and take a bit of time he was pretty sure he could get up to even the topmost shelves - after all he was a cat.

"I just need a glance and then I can get either Athene or Ida to come and check them out for me" he continued, adding "Athene and Ida are two of my senshi." A thought occurred to him "Although they won't be Athene or Ida because checking out library books isn't a senshi thing."

He knew that both Arian and Orah tried not to power up to their powered counterparts in the vicinity of the apartment area, so it was surprising to hear the Royal Knight admit to the library also being his work area. Then again maybe it was different - after all work and home were different places. He looked at Camelot with purplish eyes turned serious as he said simply "I won't tell" and then after thinking about it for a moment he amended it to "Well I might tell Athene and Ida, but they are both trustworthy."

The serious look faded to be replaced by an inquisitive look, head tilting at Camelot as he changed the subject in the form of a question "If you are Camelot does that mean that your Wonder is Camelot? Like in the stories Camelot?" After all he remembered the Pluto Squire that he had helped with the youma, Luxor, mentioning Wonders and that they were places that Knights were named for.

"I can imagine," he laughed, looking at his hands on instinct. He supposed multi-jointed fingers and thumbs really helped with things like turning pages and holding books. Plus, the size of books clearly favored humans to cats. It was unfair, now that he thought about it, but probably not a subject he would ever bring up for discussion.

He would just put some audio books in the reading alcove, which offered chairs and low shelves under some tables for convenience. Then he could rotate the stock depending on feedback from the cats (or cat) and no one would ever really need to know about it.

"Well, you can tell them," he said with a laugh, "I'm familiar enough with them to not be surprised if they already know. In fact, Athene does. Ah... maybe I should be a little more careful about things like that but with White Moon it's not too much of a worry to me. Plus, they're good kids."

He couldn't help but be paternal about senshi and knights, even the ones he did not know. He wanted to be their for them, any of them, if they needed him.

At the question he smiled, nodding his head. "Yes, that's my Wonder, too. We're all named for our Wonders. I managed to get a pretty cool one, if I don't say so myself. Visiting it is really fun, as I've always been very interested in Arthurian legend, even before I was powered. Now I can experience it first hand."

It was a little odd hearing Athene and Ida being referred to as kids given that Athene was nineteen and Ida only a year younger, but on the other hand Camelot was older than both - much older - in fact Liryn reckoned that the Royal Knight might just be the oldest powered person he'd come across since awakening to himself.

It wasn't a big deal - at least not to him - after all he reckoned that being older meant that the other knew more stuff.

His purplish eyes lit up as Camelot talked about his Wonder really being that Camelot, "It sounds really fun" he said. "Is it like the stories? Are there dragons? Can others visit?" His cheerful voice got more and more exuberant as he asked each question, the questions tumbling out one after the other.

"It is very much like the stories, though it is quiet and the passage of time has... damaged it, a bit. But I've been fixing up what I can, and exploring more and more. And yes, I do have a dragon there. Well, you could meet him here, I suppose, but he is at his best in his home. I can take you some time, any time you'd like, and you can meet him, and see the castle of Camelot."

There was a lot there he still needed to explore more. There was a lot of strange stuff he was finding there that altered his perception of his Wonder, and made him think there was even more to be found than he really knew.

It was a fascinating thought, and he imagined he would get even more done, or at least see more than he would alone, if he brought someone with him.

Other perspectives were always helpful. Maybe the cat would see or think something about Camelot that the knight himself had never considered before, and that would be interesting in and of itself. Camelot loved to share his Wonder with others, though he rarely got the chance to.

"It's not as silly a place as some songs would have you believe."

"Any time?" Liryn turned purplish eyes that had gone starry-eyed in excitement on the Royal Knight. "Like tonight any time?"

It was perhaps not what the Knight had meant when he'd made his 'any time you'd like offer', however the more he talked about his Wonder was the more that Liryn wanted to see it and the older man's mention of a dragon was just the clincher - because seriously real. life. dragon.

Idly Liryn found himself wondering if the aforementioned dragon breathed fire even as he continued to stare at Camelot.

Camelot looked a little flummoxed, but he supposed he could not come up with a really good reason why they could not go to his Wonder. He just had not really been expecting a trip tonight, and supposed he felt a little unprepared, though there was really nothing for him to prepare. Going to Camelot now would be just the same as going another day... save only a difference in brain space for the knight himself.

"Well, uh. Maybe tomorrow night? We can spend as much time as you'd like there, of course. I'll bring some snacks."

That seemed like a fair compromise, right? He did not say no to the offer he just made of taking Liryn to Camelot, but he also could get out of going right that moment, since he had not planned for it. He was the sort that liked to be in his element, and in control, when it was at all possible.

In this war, that was very rarely, so he clung to the small moments as much as he could.

Liryn gave Camelot a thoughtful look. In truth he felt a bit disappointed that Camelot was suggesting tomorrow because tomorrow wasn't really the any time he'd mentioned earlier, however the mentioned snacks did seem tempting... As did the idea of spending however long he wanted in a place that apparently had a real life dragon.

"Tomorrow will be okay" he said after considering it some more. "And snacks would be great - I'm really partial to fish" he thought about it and then added. "But not that cat food stuff."

Because cat food - be it the so called wet stuff or the kibble - wasn't really food. "I can meet you here, unless there is somewhere better to meet?" He made it a question in case Camelot had somewhere different in mind.
