It had made the transition into late evening by the time that Marlin finally ducked under the half open shutters for Fancy A Change and locked them down for the night. Not fancying heading straight up to the apartment, he had instead decided on a walk and at some point into the walk he had decided to power up into his powered alter-ego Falias.

It was a chilly evening and Falias was grateful for the layers that comprised his outfit, sticking his hand into his pockets as he walked towards the park that he spent so much of his powered time wandering as of late. Oh he'd been wandered a little further afield since meeting Zirconia in an attempt to keep an eye out for shards of the crystal that she'd told him about, but tonight was not going to be one of those nights.

For a moment he contemplated heading to his wonder, after all it had been a while since he'd been to the forest that comprised his knight wonder - hadn't been back since that first trip with Camelot. In the end however he decided against it, deciding that at least for tonight that he'd just keep to the park.

Kairatos felt the other aura coming, but partially waved it off, simply for being order, though as it drew closer he looked around, just in case. As circumstances were, he wasn't entirely sure you could assume that someone's signature meant you were on the same side these days. Not with... Castor and his handful of zealots.

The little guilty flipflop the pit of his stomach did when he saw who it was might not have been much better than seeing one of the Prince of Hail's mad dogs, but he forced a smile anyway, looking away from the empty spot beneath a tree where he'd been watching.

Titan hadn't been back there that he was aware, so he was hoping the huge man was doing alright.

"Hey."

It fell rather flat as an greeting, but he wasn't sure what else to say. Hey, Sorry about that time when I was corrupt and I tried to murder your spacy friend and you stepped on a caltrop.. Yeah that was not an great conversation starter.

It would have been hard to miss the other aura given well, the sheer strength of it - after all Knight auras weren't exactly subtle however Falias hadn't been particularly been planning to try and track this particular one down. But as he walked amongst the trees, with the odd twig snapping underfoot, it belatedly occurred to him that he seemed to be getting closer to the aura.

Even so, he might have missed the other knight, half hidden as the other was beneath a couple of trees, if not for the voice that hailed him.

He paused, his green eyes glancing in the direction that the voice had come from before managing to locate the blond Knight.

"Evening" his own greeting was not unfriendly, although the word was tinged with a note of awkwardness, because Falias was relatively good with faces and he recognised the Knight, for all that they'd never spoken - at least he was relatively certain that they hadn't spoken. Then again even if he hadn't been good with faces he thought he probably would have remembered the other Knight - because he had been one of the people caught up in the events on Mistral - Falias could remember seeing him there on the outside when he had exited the nightmare that had been Mistral's deathrinth.

Mistral wasn't something that one forgot.

Besides he'd seen the other man relatively recently - about a month or so back, on Olympus, when the Code had sent that invite... An invite that had turned out to be more Mistral - well ok things linked to Mistral.

"Falias, right?" Kairatos offered, which was... well... he knew damn well it was Falias. Too many awkward memories going on with that. "I saw you at the Olympus meetings."

He offered, fishing around trying to think of how to start.

"I haven't had a chance to say hi." He offered. Stepping forward was a calculated risk, since his best predictions for the future involved getting a punch in the jaw. "Or appologize." He offered.

It needed to be said. He'd promised to be open. He needed to clear the air, especially now. Better he tell him than...ugh. Castor.

"Knight Kairatos of Mars. But the first time we met it was Realgar."

He offered a hand out as a peace offering, but he winced as he did it, visibly bracing himself to get hit by... he wasn't sure. Boot? Fist? Mistletoe up the nose?

Falias nodded even though the Mars Knight question had seemed less question and more statement. He'd seen the blond around the Olympus meetings too, the three (had it really been as little as that?) that he'd been unceremoniously yanked to, with the Code managing to have had the an unerring knack of picking a time when he was be out on the balcony gardening - including for two of said Olympus meetings.

Mistral had been a balcony yank.

He shook his head mentally, a little curious about how the other had the advantage of his name - after all he was pretty sure that the most interaction that they'd had was in the form of sightings at Code yanks. They had never (at least not to his memory) progressed further than that - at least not prior to today. And if a part of him questioned why the other seemed to look familiar, the chance had not come up to settle why. Although perhaps tonight...

He reached out automatically to take the other's outstretched hand as the Knight introduced himself as Kairatos and then the second part of the other man's statement sunk in and his hand just stopped midway and hovered awkwardly in the air.

"Realgar?" For a moment green eyes looked startled because the only Realgar that he'd known of had been "As in the youmacycle Captain?" He blinked suddenly realising last minute that he'd had voiced thought as he'd processed it and spoken the last aloud. He gave the Knight another, sharper glance. The hair was (he thought) longer and the aura most certainly not that of a Negaverse Captain given that it was akin to how Camelot's aura had been when he had first met the Royal Knight, but if you changed the uniform then actually...

It was at that point that he realised that his hand was still partway outstretched towards the other and he awkwardly let it drop.

"You know I've always wondered..." he said at last. "Why did you let us go that night?" Much as he hated to admit it and was certainly not going to voice it out loud, he and Medea had been completely outclassed that night and the pointy spike-like things that had comprised his weapon had been super-effective. It had hurt like well stepping on a nail and not knowing how magical nail-like things through the foot worked he had ended up going and having to go get a tetanus shot.

It was perhaps just as well that he didn't know that he was the only unlucky soul to have ever fallen afoul of the things.

"...I'd already been talking to some people about purifying." He glanced away with an vague shrug. "...I.. don't know. Camelot was one thing, the guy has armor up the wazoo. He also knows what he's getting into when he gives you the 'you have options' spiel. She wasn't there to talk about options. She as literally out with no goddamn idea that I was dangerous and on the other side. And I already had another guy... some bright eyed little boy come and gush at me about how excited he was that he was going to join the DMC because he'd seen the light and we were going to be bestest buddies as soon as he corrupted. I just... had enough. I wanted to.... more or less. beat some ******** sense into someone."

He wasn't sure how he felt about it now, there was still an conflicting mix of an angry pride, shame and guilt.

"ZInkenite didn't corrupt me because he was looking for a diplomat. It's something I've been working on, but hey, maybe I'm a Mars Knight for a reason right?"

"I know Camelot" for a moment Falias' lips quirked at mention of the Royal Knight. "You could say that he was there when I was brought into this" the faint smile faded as his voice turned serious as he said simply "I owe him." He left it at that without elaborating further.

He said nothing as Kairatos talked about Medea, but wasn't able to quite hide the look of 'WTF' disbelief at the other knight's mention of coming across a senshi eager to join the Mirror Court.

Falias' opinion of the Court was kind of complicated, not least because because one of their Supers had pulled him out of a burning warehouse after he and some other Order members had tried to help some of the Negaverse take her Court out in the White Phoenix strike, however given that another of their Supers had come humiliatingly close to killing him in his first encounter with the Mirror Court he couldn't bring himself to actually like the Court.

If fact if he had to categorise his feelings that he'd probably say that they lay somewhere between general dislike and wariness - he sure as anything couldn't picture someone actively wanting to join them and particularly not someone with a 'hey I'm now chaos - you're chaos too so lets be friends' mentality because even for powered life it came across as kind of weird.

He managed to recover his features into a more neutral expression as Kairatos mentioned Zinkenite recruiting him for a reason and wondered it was rhetorical. After all the name 'Zinkenite' didn't really mean anything to him and he didn't really know enough Mars Knights to make any real judgement.

"Maybe" he said at last. "And perhaps it came from same place as whoever came with the idea that a piece of mistletoe is good thing to give someone to fight a hidden war with."

Yes he was still bitter about his Page weapon.

"The shitty starter weapon thing seems to be a theme." Kairatos admitted, glad he had missed having to go through that process again, though it had been a learning curve to go from Caltrops to Net. "Kinda makes you wonder, since there seems to be only one knight per wonder, who were they training under before they were better armed?"

Knights with a lineage seemed to have a small advantage there, they had someone they could talk to, reborn knights had to hope for applicable memories to crop up.

"You and me both" Falias admitted. It was perhaps something that his ancestor - well at least his apparent ancestor - might know, but that would involve taking a trip to Falias and he hadn't been back to the forest from which he apparently took his name since taking that first and (so far) last trip with Camelot about a year or so back.

It wasn't that he didn't want to go - more that he'd let other things come up. Occasionally it was powered stuff - mostly it was home life and work stuff, it easier to push visiting Falias to the increasingly nebulous next time.

He'd get there eventually.

Of course the answer was something that the Code probably knew as well, as whatever else he could say about the force it seemed to have been around for a bit. But if it was something the Code knew, then Falias wasn't personally planning on asking it - these days the Code wasn't something he was particularly fond off.

He sighed and then shrugged, deciding that he wasn't going to spend time struggling over attempting to puzzle the ins and whys. Instead he shifted his attention back to Kairatos, switching subjects as he did so. "Look our first meeting wasn't the best" and that was a rather long understatement. "But as far as I'm concerned it's in the past for me."

It wasn't often that he just dropped things. As Marlin he held grudges and as Falias he was no different. But...

Perhaps it was because the other had let him and Medea go that night or perhaps because he knew Camelot in the kind of friendly sense. Or perhaps even the fact that the other had gone through the hell of Mistral's deathrinth too - it could even be a combination all three for all he knew - but Falias wasn't going to poke too hard on his reasons.

"I um, I appreciate that."

He did, though he hadn't expected it. It was a definitely more positive reaction than he'd gotten from Castor, and he would have argued that Failas deserved the anger more.

It was a hell of a speed bump in the path of anyone who was thinking about purifying, and one he'd had to face himself once already, but knowing even one person out there was willing to let him put that black mark behind him... that was something.

Falias nodded in lieu of speaking, feeling somewhat awkward at the other knight's comment.

"If I see Medea, I'll let her know that you're a knight now."

Although when his path would cross that of the purple-haired senshi's next was anyone's guess given that he hadn't seen her in well over a year.

There didn't seem like any more to say and it was probably about time that he made a move to head out given that there didn't appear to be any of the shards that Zirconia had asked him to keep an eye out for around - at least not in this particular vicinity.

He hesitated for a moment, knowing that just walking off was kind off a d**k move - even with him feeling awkward.

In the end he settled on a tentative "I guess I'll see you around."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 30, 2015 2:38 pm

"Sounds good." It could have been more awkward, but that wasn't saying much. But what else did you say past 'sorry I impaled your foot and nearly murdered you and your little buddy'.
It wasn't exactly grounds for 'lets be buddies and go bar hopping'.

"...Sorry."

Yeah maybe he should just... uh. Go.

It had seemed a good point for him for him to leave, but at the other's voiced sorry Falias paused and for a moment turned, his voice serious as he called back "I'll let her know." He assumed the apology was for Medea given that the purple-haired senshi had also been part of the run in.

Then he turned and continued walking and this time he had no intention of looking back.
