 Anika was in a foul mood. She had left early for her guard duty. Leaving her litter of girls behind with Umeko, she felt some what sorry for her best friend, not only did she watch Anika's seven girls for her when she was on duty but she also had a litter of eight to care for. The best friends had had their litters only weeks apart and since neither of them were actually mates with those who had sired the litters they had agreed to raise them together.
Anika was in a bad mood though despite her beautifully growing girls. She had lost all the challenges that she had fought since she had come back from having the cub. She was worried that the other Reavers were going to start thinking poorly of her, and if she wasn't careful they would no longer have her back. She was hoping that today she would be able to prove herself.

Houri was determined. Ever since the lioness had trudged through the rogue lands seeking a challenge had been her goal. Hearing about this pride full of warriors that had free spirit like her's had inspired the rogue to visit. Where else to find a good fight after all? But after spending a bit learning more about the area she was finding that it was actually easy to imagine living here. Even with grumpy Pya she was finding herself enjoying life.
She just had to prove herself first.
Speaking of proving herself...noticing another female moving along the borders Houri rushed forward, "Hey! Up for a challenge?" She definitely was!

Anika saw the yellow female approaching a smile grew on her face. She was excited at the chance to duel someone and prove herself. Normally she didn't want to keep others out of the pride, if they were able to prove their worth she was more than happy to have them join the ranks, one more soul amongst them to fight and protect the pride. Today though today she wanted to kick some a**.
She moved quickly towards the yellow female, "Yes I will duel you. I assume you want to gain entry to our pride." she said. Sometimes lions just wanted to fight, but most of the time when rogues came like this they wanted in. Anika was taking her time sizing the female up, she wanted to plan her attacks carefully.

Houri smirked, "There's not a better place to find a good challenge than here for me~" No strict formations, every lion for themselves, and the thrill of adventure? A dream come true~ She could be the demon or the angel that she wanted to be on her own terms.
Tossing her head the lioness clawed at the ground, "I'll be nice and let you take the first move...but if you take any longer yappin' I might have to rush ya." Smiling ever so 'sweetly' Houri pulled back and braced herself for the fight.
Oh please get my blood pumping this time!

Anika admired the females bravado, she definitely had the stance of a fighter. Perhaps even if this female beat her Anika would be alright with it, Anika was all for more females in the pride that were able to hold there own and fight just as well as a male.
Without wasting anymore time Anika charged at the female, she wasn't going for just a mere swipe of the paw like she normally did this time she was going for full on contact, she lined herself up so that she would collide with the other females right shoulder and ran full speed bracing herself for contact.
Unfortunately she made a bit of a fool of herself as she ended up running right past the female, she quickly turned around keeping her face neutral to hide the extreme amount of embarrassment that the black and white female felt. Instead she just dipped her head and awaited the other females attack.

Risky move.
Houri watched as the other female began to charge at her. The lioness had been raised in a diverse group of fighters, but few of them used straight fighting. When they just charged like that...Houri smiled...it was to practice making your opponent to dodge. She remembered all those times that one of her cousins had rammed her black and blue. Finally though she had remembered the exact moment to move.
Ever so swiftly she had moved just a few breaths away from the other female's charge, "Good try~" With that soft whisper Houri moved forward on her own. But instead of a straight charge the lioness twisted around mid-run in order to sweep at the other's back leg. Feeling a bit of a touch she grinned.
"Tag you're it~" Her voice was light as she taunted the other lioness.

Anika felt the others paw swipe her back legs as she went by. It took every ounce of her strength not to trip. She cursed a little under her breath as she whipped around. It was so frustrating for the female to be doing poorly in a fight again. She let out a little hug again before moving in for another attack.
She was a little stealthier this time in her movements, the other female was clearly a trained female obvious attacks wouldn't work. She moved quickly towards the female, making it seem like she was going to go for the right shoulder again but at the last second she turned and threw herself towards the lioness' stomach. Hoping to knock the wind out of her.

Houri grinned as she noticed how the movements of the other lioness began to change. A new tactic? The rogue felt her blood rush as the other ran towards her. Surely she wasn't going to do the same move again...there had to be a catch.
Omph!
There was a catch alright. Houri winced as the other lioness collided against her, but Houri was slightly crazy. So instead of just rolling back to catch her breath the lioness instead latched onto her attacker to roll her onto the ground with her. It wasn't a gentle roll either, the lioness made certain to slam the ground with all of their weight. Both went down with a thud onto the ground and Houri kicked out to roll the other away from her as she braced herself for the next move.

Anika hit the ground hard and huff of breath escaping her lips as she collided hard with the ground. She slowly dragged herself up to her feet cursing under her breath more. Though at the same time she was impressed by the other fighter.
She looked up towards the rogue female and could tell that she was awaiting Anika's next attack, instead of an attack though Anika bowed her head. "You have proved your worth." she said simply.
She wasn't in the mood to take a brutal beating and she could tell that this lioness had the blood of a fighter, there was no point in dragging it out.
"You are a strong female welcome to the pride." Really Anika was thrilled to have such a kick a** female in the pride, though she wasn't so thrilled about being beaten again.

Houri grinned. No one ever expected the lioness to go as far as she did for fights. I guess I did inherit a bit of the demon crazy. Her own breathing was slightly ragged as she clenched her claws into the ground. What was awaiting her now? Another swipe or a tackle? Though surely the lioness had learned that Houri wouldn't take any full body attacks lightly.
"Wait...what?" Houri blinked in confusion as the other female relented to her. A small chuckle escaped her own maw, "Well...I guess that happened." Respectfully she did nod her own head, "Thank you for the fight...my name is Houri by the way." But really! Houri was brimming with excitement, what types of fights and adventures would she get into now?
Still she grinned boldly, "We'll have to tussle again so I can truly show you more of my style." That insane, kill or be killed style that had been taught to her...the style of the shadow fighters and of those who were bold to fight in the light as well...she had learned so much and now she hoped to learn even more.
A new home...a new chance...and she was definitely ready for this one.
