The stars glittered in the cold night air as Tammy excitedly prepared for his guest’s arrival. It had taken him forever, but he had managed to dig up lanterns to hang on the trees in place of Christmas lights. This holiday was still a little new to Tammy, but he’d researched it all he could; and he listened to Brenny tell him all about it as well.
Just as he had promised, Brenny had visited him often! And in thanks, Tammy wanted to have a Christmas party for the celebi. After hearing about various holidays, Tammy was sure that Brenny would like the idea of celebrating together Christmas the best. They could maybe make cookies and popcorn and decorate a tree. But what Tammy was looking forward to most of all, was giving Brenny his Christmas gift. After all, it was tradition to give gifts on Christmas.
Now Tammy had thought long and hard, about what to give Brenny. And he didn’t have a lot to work with. But he had tried his best, searching the shrine high and low for ideas. Finally he had settled on something special he had found while wandering the forest. It was a fairy circle. Hopefully Brenny would find it as wonderful, and magical as Tammy did.
Excited, the ninetails bounced around the yard. He had decided that he would take Brenny on a walk to see his gift, and then they could go back inside for warm cocoa. As he waited for his friend to arrive, little snowflakes began to fall from the sky. He smiled, eager to have a fun evening with his best buddy.

Brenny wasn't sure he was supposed to be out so late, in the cold. But he was there, whether or not he should have been. While he was concerned that Connie would worry, he was also sure that if he didn't show up, Tammy would. He had bundled up carefully, wearing a warm winter's coat, a pair of gloves and a scarf. His face was still pink from winter's chill, however, and he seemed to be moving slower than usual.
The celebi didn't like winter. He loved playing in the snow, and he was rather fond of the pretty lights people stuck up: and he adored the holidays, but it was the cold that made winter an unpleasant season.
He had a gift for Tammy! That was the best part of the cold trek to the shrine. It made him smile to think about it. Tammy had been lonely for a long time, and Christmas was new to him. He deserved the very best presents to make up for all the gifts he'd missed out on! Brennen had taken the time to make Tammy a dessert: he'd taken some u flavored gelatin, lemon juice, and powdered sugar to make turkish delight! A whole pound of it! Then he had bought the ninetails a plush vulpix, in hopes it would keep him company when Brenny could not.
"Boo! Merry Christmas, Tammy! Oooh, it's snowing!" The celebi admired the snowflakes, attempting to catch one in his hands.

When Brenny arrived, Tammy was overjoyed! He rushed over to the celebi and wrapped his tais around him. “First I have to check that you’re warm,” he said dutifully. He wanted to make sure that his friend was not going to freeze on their expedition to see the surprise that Tammy had for Brenny. He couldn’t help but notice that Brenny was moving slower than usual though, and Tammy was worried. “Are you alright?”
He watched as Brenny caught the snowflakes and smiled. Hopefully he could show the celebi his gift, and then quickly get him inside for some warm cocoa. He didn’t want Brenny to freeze after all. “There’s something I want to show you, but if it’s too cold, just tell me, and I’ll do my best to heat things up.”
He considered it rather good fortune that he had the ability to breathe fire when he wanted. It came in handy during Winter, and even during the other seasons when he wanted to light the lanterns.
“What do you say, shall we enter the forest?” he asked.

"I'm okay," Brenny assured Tammy quickly, wrapping his finger's in the ninetails' thick fur. He didn't want Tammy to worry! He was fine, really! After all, he'd been born during winter. He'd survived on his own in the winter for a little while. He'd had less to manage with then, not even a coat. "It's just the cold, you know. Grasstype." He hesitated, and then added, "Most plants go underground or are blanketed by snow. They kind of hibernate until it's time for them to come back up. But trees don't, and I don't!"
He let go of Tammy to beam. "Okay, I'll tell you if I get too cold." He wouldn't. Brenny trusted the ninetails, but he wasn't particularly fond of fire. He certainly wouldn't allow it to be lit in his forest without Connie around to control it!
"Let's go!"

Tammy nodded in understanding. He wanted to keep Brenny safe though. So just in case, he would stay close so Brenny could use his thick fur for warmth. He would lead Brenny through the woods carefully so they would not get lost. He had marked the path with ribbons on the trees.
"We'll just follow the the bows I tied on the tree branches, and we should get their shortly," he added.
He moved along, eyeing the trees and being extra careful that they did not get off the right path. And soon they arrived at the right place. "Here it is," Tammy said proudly. "A fairy circle, surviving all the way out here in winter. Surely it must be magic."
Tammy smiled, "Merry Christmas Brenny!" Hopefully he would like his present.

Brenny did bury his hands in Tammy's fur, almost immediately. He acted as if he was stroking the ninetails' fur, rather than warming his hands in it. "Okay," he agreed, smiling at Tammy. They would follow the ribbons so they didn't get lost!
When they arrived at their destination, Brenny's eyes widened in wonder. A fairy circle? This was a fairy circle? Did that mean fairies existed? Well, there were fairytypes. Had fairytype Pokemon made this? "It must be!" He exclaimed. "I think it really is." He wrapped his arms around Tammy and hugged him.
"Merry Christmas, Tammy! Come open your gift!" He held out the baskef with dessert and the pkush vulpix. "I brought you a friend!"

Tammy purred like a cat when Brenny stroked his fur. He was used to being petted by the humans long ago; even though Brenny was just trying to keep warm, Tammy didn't mind at all. It made him happy to see that the celebi was enjoying his gift as well. Tammy smiled and gasped in excitement when Brenny revealed the vulpix plush. Tamotsu was touched! "Thank you! Thank you!" he cried out with joy. He wrapped his tails around the plush and around Brenny, hugging them close. He was so glad to have yet another friend, one he could talk to when Brenny was away.
"You're very thoughtful Brenny, I'm so glad you happened by here that fateful day," he chimed. "Now it's cold, so let's get you and vulpix inside." He gently nudged the celebi with his head and picked up the vulpix with his psychic powers, letting it hover until it landed on his back so it could safely 'ride' back to the shrine. He would have let Brenny ride too though he wasn't sure he could handle the weight; after all, the celebi was a growing boy was he not? Speaking of which, growing boys needed to eat did they not? So Tamotsu offered Brenny the option of making cocoa and snacking on berries. "Inside we can make some cocoa and I gathered some berries too. It's not a whole lot, but I hope we can enjoy it together." ^^

Brenny was thrilled at Tammy's reaction to the gift; the ninetails seemed so happy! "Now you have a friend to keep you company when I can't. And he'll never complain, you know, because he loves you as much as I do. Well, I think he does. He kind of mumbles, I bet you can understand him much better than I can." He wrapped his arms around the ninetails, beaming. So he wouldn't be cursed after all, like he'd first thought when he'd met the ninetails. He'd heard rumors of a myth where ninetails could curse those who touched its tails for thousands of years.
"I brought candy," he said, beaming, as he was offered berries and hot cocoa. "We can share it, It's good. Kind of lemony, but mostly it tastes like sugar. That's mostly what it is."
