Lysithea wasn’t going to lie. This helping the poor woman was getting difficult. She hadn’t used her attack twice before she met her…and now she had done it back to back. It was so draining…but she had to help, she really did. That was the only reason she was going back, going back to find the negaverse agent that was with the woman…for some reason. Honestly she hadn’t dwelled too much on that fact, it wasn’t worth scratching her brain about it.
She made it to the spot and looked around, sighing heavily. It seemed that the two weren’t there yet. Well. That was fine. She could sit down and take a little rest. Seriously, as soon as this woman was healed, she was going on vacation. Maybe she would just sleep for a few weeks straight…and then sleep some more. The worst part about all of this was how little she really seemed to be doing…nothing really got healed it looked like…nothing but some scrapes…it wasn’t fair.
She was literally pouring everything she had into helping this poor, poor battered woman…and she was just…getting nowhere. All she wanted to do was be the hero in this situation...it was just so hard, not to mention completely exhausting.
Lysithea sat down next to a tree, bringing her knees up to her chest and hugging them. All she could do now was wait. They would show up. Right? They just had to.

Merlinite did not bring Painite out this time, knowing that the movement was hard on her, even with the healing that was clearly helping her and taking away some of the pain she was under. It was helping her to heal a bit, and at least making Merlinite feel a bit more comfortable leaving her alone and not having to worry about coming back to a dead body in his bed.
He tried not to think about that one too much, now. It had worn him out so much already, he could not handle any more negativity or stress.
Tonight he came out to meet the senshi that had been helping him alone, leaving Gently at home and hoping the senshi understood. Why was he worried about upsetting her? They were still on opposite sides of the war, after all, and technically enemies.
Except for the fact that Lysithea had been helping him willingly, and had done as good a job as she could have, to her own detriment. He knew that, by seeing how tired she had looked after the last time she used her magic. It was too much to ask her to do it again so soon and he, despite himself, didn't want to see her hurt herself.
He told himself it was because she was a valuable tool, and not because he was worried about her as a person. He had never been good at lying to himself. Everyone else, maybe, but not himself.
"Hey," he said, spotting Lysithea sitting down in the usual spot, walking up to her slowly. He kneeled next to her, then sat down on the floor beside her.

Lysithea had sank into a light half doze, or at least had zoned out enough that when Merlinite spoke, she jumped, limbs flying out as his voice penetrated the state of half sleep she had been in. “What? What? Oh.” She looked over at him and gave a little smile. “Hey yourself. You’re back for more…” Her voice trailed off and she paled, looking around for Gently, for the injured woman she had been doing all she could to help.
“W…where’s…” The senshi swallowed and she shook her head. “Where is she? Oh my god where is she?” If she had died…if all the magic that Lysithea had used on her had just done nothing…oh god that was…
The very thought made her feel sick and she felt hot tears gathering at the corners of her eyes. “…I-is she dead…? Did she die? Did I fail her? Where is she?” Her voice rose sharply at the end of the questions, a slight touch of hysteria in it. She couldn’t be dead. But then…why hadn’t Merlinite brought her…?

"Oh, no, don't freak out," Merlinite waved his hand, realizing his mistake. He had not brought Gently with him out of fear of running Lysithia down, but he had not thought she would jump to the worst conclusion, though it certainly made sense.
With as bad off as Gently had been, he could hardly blame her for thinking she'd died. It was not what he meant to do, though, and he felt surprisingly guilty to see her panicking about it.
What was going on in his life? Feeling bad for upsetting a senshi?
"She's okay, I promise. I just didn't think... I didn't want to bring her again in case it was too much for you. And moving her around probably hurt her. But you've used a lot of magic and energy trying to heal her, and I don't want... I mean. It could be dangerous if you keep at it."
He looked guilty, which was an odd look on his usually confident face. It sort of made him look like a kicked puppy that had also been left out in the rain. With no food. For days.
"Don't worry."

“Oh.” Lysithea tried to process all that he said, but it was all getting muddled. One thing was starting to wind its way through her mind though…she was alive. She wasn’t dead…it was okay. She was okay still. Hanging in there. It took a long moment, but her breathing slowed to something that was much less erratic and she slumped back against the tree. “Jesus Christ…you can’t just do that to a person! Give me a heart attack why don’t you? I’m never going to forgive you for that, you know.”
The snehsi shook her head, still looking shaken, finally though she looked back at Merlinite. “But she’s okay? She’s really okay…? Am I doing enough, do you think? I’m pushing myself as hard as I can for her…I just can’t wait until she’s all better…I hope it’s soon…”
It seemed like it was the first time she really allowed herself to look at the negaverse agent that she kept meeting up with, but as she looked him over, she opened her mouth and finally shrugged. “What do you keep in all of those pockets? Why do you have so many pockets…I don’t get any pockets. That’s not fair.” She just wanted to break the tension that was still enveloping her. Everything felt shaky right now. Maybe she just needed a nap…

Merlinite shook his head and looked guilty. He was tired and he felt pathetic, sitting there, trying to comfort a senshi and actually meaning it. This was not one of his usual ruses, or efforts to butter up his enemies to get a better vantage point from which to crush them. He had no interest in hurting her at all, and that bothered him in itself. Instead, he just felt tired and scared, and apologetic.
"I didn't mean to, I didn't think you would jump to that conclusion. I guess because I know she's still okay, but I didn't think... yeah. Sorry. That's one way to get a dose of energy though, right? One nasty surprise can kick a brain into gear."
He knew from experience that fear was a good motivator, though the energy crashes following adrenaline rushes were usually pretty bad.
"I think your healing is helping her though, really. Her bruises look better and she doesn't seem to be in as much pain as she was. She can sleep, and not... I mean. You know, wake up in agony." The screams and cries she made in her sleep those first few nights were going to stick with him for a while. As was the name of Camelot, which she said often.
At her question, though, he looked down at his outfit and frowned.
"I don't keep anything in them. They just... look cool, I guess. Where would you put a pocket on that outfit of yours, anyway? Senshi barely get enough fabric for a shirt and a skirt, let alone any extras." He did not mind the sudden topic change, and let out a breath of air with his response, even looking at her and offering her a shaky smile. "Hey so... thanks. For all your help."

The senshi nodded, giving a little laugh. It was quite a way to get a sudden energy boost. Damn she wanted ice cream…she would have to go out and get some after this. She damn well deserved it.
Lysithea gave him another look and poked one of the pockets on his vest. “They do make you look cool. Rugged and prepared, really. Like some misguided nature explorer. Mountain climber, maybe…and you’re welcome. It’s my pleasure. I don’t want anything to happen to her…she’s just an innocent…I’m really happy she has someone to take care of her like you, you seem really dedicated…that’s so sweet.”
Of course…she did wonder why he was so close to her…was she a sister? His girlfriend? Was she perhaps part of this whole war? Maybe she was part of the negaverse herself…
Oh yeah right. That thought almost made Lysithea start laughing again. Someone that nice looking could never be part of the negaverse. What a stupid thought. Maybe she was just losing her mind. It wasn’t that difficult of a thing to do, nowadays…
“I like helping you too. You’re not so bad a guy, I think. And you’re pretty easy on the eyes, for that matter.”
Yup. Losing her mind, most definitely.

Merlinite nodded his head, though he was not sure Painite was lucky to have him. He wasn't sure he was taking care of her right, but he was doing what he could, and sticking to her requests. He worried that she had just been feverish and confused by her pain when she said not to take her to a hospital or tell anyone she was alive, but then, she had seemed so serious...
He just wanted her to get better and for things to go back like they were before. He had a feeling, though, that it was not going to happen. Or at least, not the latter.
"Easy on the eyes? Well, now, there's a surprise. All this time I've been trying to get ladies to notice me, and it seems I was just aiming for the wrong team." He sighed, shaking his head but grinning at her despite himself. "You just be careful, alright? Not everyone in the Negaverse is going to be like me. Good looking, or as... uh... nice. I just don't want you getting hurt after all this, you know?"

Lysithea gave a little grin of her own, standing up and brushing off her skirt. “Well. Don’t worry about me acting friendly with anyone from your team. Don’t you remember when you and I met? I was ready to punch you into next week. Although maybe I should have focused on kicking. I’m a lot better at kicking than I am at punching.” She kicked his knee in a playful way, making a wooshing noise. “See? I can actually land a kick, unlike my punches…but don’t worry. I’ll be my normal, anti-social self when I come face to face with others in your naughty faction. That’s just how I am.”
She gave a large yawn and rubbed at an eye, sighing. “Well, since you don’t have any work for me, I suppose I should be on my way then…yeah?”
The senshi thought for a moment and finally shrugged. “And yeah. I already figured nobody else in the Negaverse would be as devilishly handsome as you. So, you don’t have to worry about that.” She gave a wink and felt pretty bad about it right after it was given. No flirting with the bad guys stupid head. Go to bed.

"You might have thought you were ready to," Merlinite laughed, standing up and putting his hands on his hips, looking cocky now, despite that tired air clinging to him. "But you were not gonna succeed with those swings. You'd have to be better at kicking, if you've managed to stay alive so far."
He grinned at her, then nodded his head and looked a little more serious for a moment. He was glad he had managed to meet a friendly and helpful senshi, except now he had another one to add to his 'exception' list. The ones he could not hurt and did not want to see get hurt. It was a small list, at least, so he still did not feel... too guilty... about it.
Or maybe he was just a senshi sympathizer in denial.
He grinned at her flirting, though, shaking his head and watching her curiously. He couldn't regret meeting her, at the very least, and that was enough for him. Everything else would just have to unfold as it was supposed to, and he would roll with it. That seemed to be working so far.
"Alright, have a good night. Try and get some rest, eh? I'll try and find you again some time, to let you know how she's doing."

Lysithea nodded and gave another little laugh.”I’ll uh…I’ll be around here the next couple of nights in case you need me. So don’t worry about that. If she needs more healing, I’m right here. Because that’s my job. I’m a healer…and she needs me.” She sounded so proud of herself and shook her head.
“See you later, Merlinite. Have a good night and get some rest. You need it, I think. You look as tired as I feel.” She winked and waved, darting off into the night, secretly relieved that she didn’t have to drain more of her power with healing the woman, not that she didn’t want to…she was just so, so tired.
And sometimes helping people was just exhausting. Plain and simple. It was time to get some rest, just like Merlinite said. What a great guy.
