Moth-Drops loved getting hoof treatments. Absolutely adored them. There was something so soothing about just kicking back in a massage chair and letting somebody gently condition your hooves. Today was going to be even more relaxing than normal; she was going in for a full treatment. Hair and hooves- the works! She felt slightly self-indulgent admitting it, but she had a perfectly good reason to want to spiff up tonight- a reason that was as gentle and kind as it was tall and gorgeous. Their first date had been wonderful, and the pegasus was absolutely adamant about seeing him again. It was why she'd set up such an early appointment; she wanted to make sure she'd have enough time to get the rest of the way ready at home. The little bell above the salon's door jingled as another client walked in, but as she reflexively tried to peek over and see who it was, her stylist admonished her to keep her head still while she trimmed and brushed, hemming and hawing over how long to leave the hair around Moth's face.

Lady Faire took beauty seriously. Being a princess was hard work. Sure, she woke up beautiful, but not THAT beautiful. She was perfect, but even perfection needed to get it's mane treated and hooves polished. When she walked into the beauty parlor, her eyes scanned the room, and quickly spotted Moth Drops. Ah ha! Fortune had smiled upon her! This was the perfect opportunity for Lady Faire to put the screws to the mare and find out how her date with Valiant went. She hoped her idiot brother hadn't messed it up. It was very important that their royal line continued, and if he couldn't find a suitable mare, Lady Faire was going to have to make arrangement. Valiant wouldn't have liked it, but she knew how to do necessary things. With luck, he liked this one enough to wed and bed her. Really though, happiness was just a secondary objective. She smiled at Moth Drops, and took the seat next to her. "Good day. I hope all is well with you."

Moth would know that voice anywhere, even with red, white, and blue hair in her eyes. Her mane, though not of brush-and-grow proportions, was a plenty effective blindfold. "Lady Faire!" she squeaked, smiling behind the hairricade. "It is- I hope you're having a really nice day, too. Probably nicer now, though, unless it's a real hair emergency. There's just something so relaxing about a salon trip, isn't there?" It was really nice that she'd run into the mare- she wanted to thank her for setting her up with Valiant, but she couldn't just say "Oh, by the way, thanks for setting me up with the hunkiest beefcake this side of Cow Town who just so happens to be your brother." That would be weird. But she was certain the date would make its way into conversation!

Her usual hair assistant came over and began to brush the alicorn's long mane. "Yes, it is relaxing. They do an adequate job here." There was a long pause while they put her hair in the sink and began to wash it. It was impossible to hear anything during this part, so Lady Faire didn't bother trying to hold a conversation. She did wish though that they would wash faster. She was very busy, and she had to know about this date. They pulled her head out of the water, and combed her long locks. "Was Valiant to your liking?" she wasted no time. Usually she would have been coy and twisted the words out of her conversation partner, but the anticipation was getting to her.

Oh was he to her liking. He was entirely to her liking; he was her liking wrapped up in shiny paper and tied with a bow. But wait- what if Lady Faire thought she was being too forward or moving too fast? She knew how much she valued good manners- she didn't want to seem too slatternly. "Your brother was a perfect gentleman," she said. "The date went really well, I think!" Moth was blushing under her charcoal fur- thank heaven for small mercies, for it would have been impossible for anyone to see.

Well, that was good. At least Valiant hadn't cocked it all up. She smiled and leaned back in her seat. That was the news she was hoping to hear. Hopefully, things would continue to go well. Lady Faire wanted little nieces and nephews to steal away and train how to be proper royalty. There was far too little of it in Phonyland. The downside, of course, is that not all of them would be alicorns like her brother and herself. But some sacrifices had to be made. There just wasn't enough royalty to go around. And inbreeding with Valiant was not an option. Ung. She was repulsed by those siblings that did that whenever she saw them. They weren't open and flaunting it, but Lady Faire just knew something was up. And a royal hunch was always right. In truth, those two would be thrown in the tower if she had her way. Suspicion was enough to condemn them. She pursed her lips. Moth Drops was a sweet girl. The princess gave herself a mental pat on the back. She had chosen well. She had to keep pressing for information though, "Do you have plans on seeing him again? If you do, I recommend you move quickly. You never know when someone else could snatch up a catch like Valiant." Maybe she could use some deception and lay on some pressure to get them to seal the deal faster. There was no line of mares waiting for Valiant.

"Oh!" Moth said, quietly but still surprised. Perhaps not really surprised- after all, it wasn't unheard of for males to have multiple options. Ladies, too; everybody had the right to love freely. "Does he have, um, multiple mares he's seeing? I mean, I'm seeing him again tonight- that's why I'm here, we're going someplace extremely fancy and I wanted to look my best- but if he's got a lot of girlfriends, I don't want to monopolize him too much... if he wouldn't want that." That was absolutely a lie- she would like to monopolize him. But at the same time, she only wanted what he wanted- and she definitely wanted to find that out before things went any further; as she was realizing more and more what she wanted out of life, she found that a family was pretty high up on the list, and while he certainly didn't seem like he was playing the field, his sister might know a bit about his dating life that she hadn't pried into. It wasn't really polite to ask him- but his sister might know!

Lady Faire smiled like the cat that got the canary. "Well, he doesn't have another girlfriend currently, but I have found other suitable mares should you two decide that you aren't as interested as I might have hoped. They're champing at the bit to get to him, so to speak." Champing bits really was too country and low brow for anyone that she would find for Valiant, but the idiom fit. Of course, all of that was a lie. As attractive as her brother was, he wasn't the sharpest needle in the haystack. He sometimes mistook males with shorn fetlocks for females. There were multiple reasons as to why Moth Drops was his first girlfriend. "I am so glad that you will be seeing each other tonight. I think of all his many options, that you're his favorite."
