Kaalnia was not a stranger to the Tale, but she had never really hunted in it before. When she'd been travelling with Votzhem, they'd relied on fish and on supplies. When she'd been with the funeral caravan, they'd had supplies and they'd moved quickly – too quickly to go off to hunt.
Since she was rested and refreshed from the victory and the celebrations afterwards – wink, wink – she figured she was in the Tale, why not try hunting in the Tale? Not that she was a particularly good hunter or anything – Kaa just didn't have that kind of patience – But she at least wanted to give it a try.
In the end, though, she found herself seated on a tree branch, fiddling with her spear as she looked out on the boring, flat, vaguely tree – strewn grassland.
She really didn't have any patience.

An odd, distinctly un-manly sound reached her ears, and – alerted – Kaalnia gazed out into the Tale to see a large plume of dust rising. Immediately she assumed that there was a lady in trouble. Despite the gravity of such a situation, Kaalnia grinned.
”I'm coming to the rescue!” she cried, leaping from her tree and running – heroically, she felt – towards the disturbance, her spear ready for her to leap into the fray. What would it be, she wondered? A kinfa? A tale Mammu? One of those Arwa-things?
Either way, she charged into the cloud of dust, only to find that not only were the offending beasts not large and fanged, but that the victim was... ”Oh... you're a man.” she said, dissappointed. Still, that didn't mean he didn't need help, and Kaalnia – though she found men pitiful and not attractive to look at – would not begrudge the poor souls some of her awesomeness.
She jabbed at one of the poscuta with her spear, only to find one of them transferred to her arm, latching to her with its nasty teeth as it chittered angrily at her. ”Ow!” she yelped, trying to shake it off, ”Hey!”

Kaalnia looked ridiculous as she 'battled' the poscuta on her arm, trying to shake it off of her: to no avail. Her methods weren't as creative as Kiyelts, mainly going towards different varieties of shaking and trying to hit it with a spear. Again, to no avail – it seemed to dodge her and, when she hit it, it almost seemed to bite on harder. Kaalnia, at the end of her rope and imagination and tolerance for pain, made a little, unhappy, frustrated sound as it glared back at her.
And then she saw Kiyelt detach his, and decided that that was as good an idea as any. She ran, with the little needle-toothed b*****d still on her arm, and dove, dunking it into the creek. It came off her arm and glared at her, looking pathetic and mean.
”Serves you right!” she muttered, retrieving her arm and inspecting the nasty welts, ”That hurt!” She stood up, brushing sand off of her clothing and skin, and offered a hand to Kiyelt. ”I won't say that was fun...” she said, clearly disgruntled, ”The name's Kaalnia. What in 'Chi's name was that all about?!” she said, invoking the ice goddess. Bergchi, she had found, was very good for cursing with...
