Eltanin hadn't eaten since yesterday. He could go longer, but there was nothing to do and no one to amuse himself with. His wanderings had proven fruitless; no random encounters in which the lust for blood could tempt him. Now his thirst was just annoying instead of exciting. He didn't drink the blood of other soquili and he was quite good at controlling himself, but the temptation was exhilarating. It was like a high, and he'd starve himself just for the fix. And after he couldn't control his longing any more, he'd go feast on some helpless animal. Their blood was so much sweeter after enduring the temptation and the waiting.
Someone once asked him why he only ate animals. Others with his inclinations would be known to drink from fellow horses, or even humans (but they just tasted terrible), but Eltanin had a simple response when it came to the question of his not partaking. "I don't like my food to talk."
Of course, he could communicate with the animals too, but it was different. They were much more beneath him. He didn't value their lives like he did that of his own kind.
And so, he wandered the forest looking for his next meal. The blood was the best part of course, but he'd enjoy the meat as well. Blood unfortunately wasn't the only sustenance he required. He also needed other things like sunshine and water. Sunshine he liked but water was bland. He only drank it as to not become dehydrated.
A scurrying beneath him drew his attention. A rabbit. One stomp of his hoof and he'd have his next meal. It was too easy. The blood wouldn't even be enjoyable. He sighed and brought his hoof down. It was too late now. It would be a waste not to eat it.
He prodded the rabbit with his hoof and snorted. A bit of blood leaked from the rabbits ear, but Eltanin wasn't tempted. He didn't think he was in the mood for rabbit after all...

Taisiya wasn't a mare to mess with. People have tried before; they'd tried several times. She was a mare, she couldn't be powerful. She was small, no way she could take down an opponent. Her horns weren't that sharp, they couldn't stab anything. There was no way she could survive a winter. No way in hell. She'd freeze or starve or be unable to do much more than lay in the snow and die. And yet, here she was. She was standing tall and proud, protecting her own small mountain. Any who came would face her and she was not a kind spirit. If someone tried to overpower her, she was quick. She could climb the steep cliffs of the mountains as if they were a flat plain. She would never allow anyone to take her over. She'd survived several winters, and a childbirth of the worst types. It only fueled her anger more. And Taisiya wouldn't allow anyone to mess with her territory.
That being said, the sight of someone moving into her territory alerted her almost instantly.
The deer like Soquili paused on her perch of rock and grass. Her head tilted to the side, and she observed silently for some time. Her ears were perked, her gold eyes locked. He was a larger stallion than she was used to. Usually the only males that came this way would be here to try and put her in her place. Rumor could spread quickly about the cocky mare who ruled her mountains as if they were better than all others. As if it was a sacred ground. And to Taisiya, it was. Her tail flicked behind her as she tilted her head one way and then the other. His wings were curious, a mix between a bird and a bat. And the way he seemed to... quest his food was even more curious. Shifting from one hoof to another, the mare tossed her short mane to keep it where she wanted it. As she analyzed, she took in key factors. Large. Obviously a predator by the way he moved. And were those fangs? He had to be some form of mix breed; but then what was she in that aspect? And he was rather handsome, she had to admit.
A smirk shifted over the mare's features. Yes. He would do well. If she could get him to do as she wished.... Well... That would mean she would have muscle and maybe others would leave her alone. As much as Taisiya enjoyed fighting things off, she was tired at times. And slightly lonely. Her ears pinned back and she almost snorted. Her daughter had fled not long ago, and with her went any form of... "conversation" she could obtain. She watched as the stallion hunted the rabbit, but he seemed uninterested now. As though the rabbit wasn't worth it. Smiling mischievously, she hopped down from the perch and moved carefully forward, keeping herself at a distance yet approaching. "My, my. That looks to be... unappetizing. Shall I find you something more of a challenge? There is a cougar that has been bothering me as of late. I bet a big, strong stallion like you could help me be rid of it, hm?" She cooed, batting her eyes toward him.BelaLucina [ Sorry for any typos or anything. Tablet typing. xD ]

Eltanin looked up from his rabbit, still trying to decide whether it was worth his time or not. He hadn't heard the mare approach him and wondered if the rabbit had really caught all of his attention. Was he getting sloppy? Or perhaps...it was something else. He noticed the mare's deer like hooves and small frame. She could move quietly over the terrain, and she had completely snuck up on Eltanin.
He kicked the rabbit aside and grinned at her. She was definitely a welcome change to his evening. Spending time in the company of a lady beat eating dirty rabbits any day, whether he was hungry or not. He liked her bright yellow eyes and the way she was batting her eyelashes at him. He gave her a wink in return.
"Well, hello dear," he said in a deep voice, almost a purr. "A cougar you say?"
He had to admit, a cougar sounded very tasty, and the challenge intrigued him. But he wanted to see what she smelled like first. He took a deep inhale through his nostrils as he moved closer to her. He closed his eyes and analyzed the smell, as if tasting it. Her blood smelled strong, coppery, and refreshing like the mountain air around them.
"Mmm, but you smell nice," he teased with a smile. He wouldn't actually eat her, but of course she wouldn't have known that. Smelling her blood, almost like a tiny taste, had been enough. Enough to tempt and intrigue him and stir his thirst for something else. Like cougar. His eyes gleamed and he asked her, "this cougar, where is it? I think I might just be the man for the job." He flexed his wings a little, thinking that flight might help him gain an advantage over the cougar.

She could tell he was taking her in. And Taisiya always thought she was a sight to see. She wasn't the average dainty mare that people were "attracted" to. No. She was more stocky, and yet elegant. She was strong and refused to be knocked down. Her tail flicked behind her as she almost posed. Her head held up a little more and her stance ready to run if she needed to. And if not, she would easily attack forward and take down anyone who tried to hurt her. Her eyes flicked down toward the kicked aside rabbit for a moment, before she focused once more on the stallion. Taisiya arched her brow curiously, smirking some in her triumph.
"Why yes, a cougar. Nasty little brute he is. He keeps hunting all the critters around here. And then the fact he attacked me not too long ago. Well... I just can't seem to bare it." She murmured, shaking her head slightly. The step forward that he did made her stiffen. She narrowed her golden eyes carefully as if threatening to hurt him if he dared do anything to hurt her. But then the stallion seemed to sniff at her. And for a second, Taisiya was confused. For a second she considered questioning it, but then he spoke of how she smelled. The mare flicked her ear back, and looked down at her own form as best as she could. She shifted some, cloven hooves knocking over some rocks, and then lifted her head back up to him. But then he said he'd help, and she grinned. She let out a small noise of approval and dipped her head slightly toward the taller stallion. "Well that is such a relief! He truly is a brute." She murmured.
Nodding toward the west, she jumped from the rock she was on and onto one that was a little higher up. Taisiya glanced back to nod for him to follow, and then moved quickly around the mountain. Her tail flicked once more, and she glanced around for several seconds before pausing near a cave. It was a few yards away, but she could see it easily. "Over there. He sleeps after a big meal. Perhaps you could handle him for me? I really would appreciate it, darling." Taisiya cooed, batting her eyes once more.BelaLucina [ Sorry it took so long! Eltanin could tell he was making the mare a little uncomfortable. It didn't matter though, she still wanted him to catch this cougar. Unless it was some sort of trap. The thought briefly crossed his mind before he shrugged it off. Trapped in a cave with a cougar. What could possibly go wrong?
There was something that piqued Eltanin's interest though, more than the thought of getting trapped in the cave. This cougar was encroaching on this mare's territory, hunting her food source Eltanin assumed. Unless she had some other attachment to the "critters." Perhaps he was doing the same. But this cougar had attacked her. And she had somehow fought it off, or escaped. She had his respect for that.
"He attacked you? And you fought him off?"
Of course Eltanin wanted to catch this cougar. He would make a nice prize, the blood would be good, and there was a part of Eltanin that wanted to do it because...well...he wanted to help.
"I am at your service, my lady."
As she climbed up and around the mountain, Eltanin spread out his wings and lifted himself into the air, following along behind her. When she stopped near the cave Eltanin landed beside her. He looked towards the entrance and a shiver of excitement went through him.
"Time to catch a cougar," he said with a grin.
techabyte I've been sick too! Finally getting over it. The cough is trying to linger. I hope you're feeling better! I've also been caught up in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. XD
