Peralian would never mention it; but he was quite nervous about leaving home now that he was actually was leaving. He wanted to be independent and go see all the places his parents had described! But a part of him also kept thinking: I’m just 13! And barely a mage! Or archer… He’d seen his brother and how Tarlen had focused on the bow until he’d gotten really good before choosing his other weapon. For a while, Peral had thought the bow was the only one that called to Tarlen… Unlike the two paths that he himself walked! I just focused on magic, he thought as he ran a hand along his bow. I think I will see if there are other archers in the tribe to teach me. After hurting himself during the blood moon and not being able to use his magic for a while, Peralian had realized he needed to also concentrate more on his archery instead of relying on lucky shots.
I probably should have stayed home over winter, he thought, practiced with da some more. But he’d already told them he was leaving! To return now just because he was nervous? No!

He took a deep breath and looked out over the waters as the ship began to leave the small Ayralian port. He was leaving now. No turning back! Can’t believe I’m heading to the ice land for winter…this is not the brightest idea!

But bad idea or not, the young hybrid boy found himself on one of the Tribe’s smuggling ships skipping across the choppy waves heading north. Several days out a huge storm hit. Towering waves, deafening thunder mixing with the sound of pouring rain hitting the ocean, darkness briefly illuminated by flashes of lightning; so much more intense than the storms he’d been through so far! Peralian, being the young teenager that he was, was not inside where it was safe and dry; no, he’d tied himself to the railing near the aft of the ship and was enjoying the rush and thrill of a storm at sea.

Soaked to the bone and realizing that he was probably going to catch a cold from this; Peralian was wondering how he was going to be able to head down the hatch with out getting thrown off board when he heard the faint roar of a dragon. The ship pitched to one side and shuddered as the helmsman brought it around to avoid the huge spires piercing the ocean’s surface. Orders bellowed by the Captain were swallowed by the storm, but the crew were all acting calm; no panicking and moving about their tasks with a confident efficiency Peral was jealous of.
They did not, however, seem to see the two dragons flying high above, half hidden in the storm clouds and darkness. Or maybe they have other things to worry about? Peralian did not know, but he thought that if the Dragons got within range, he’d try to take them out.

I should also alert the crew, he thought and looked around. Of course they’d be too far away, he thought in disgust. Oh well; I can take them on! I’ve already killed Kiandri’s! I can do this! The Kiandri’s swooped around above them, never diving close enough for him to attack. Using this time to pull out his bow and string it as well as tie his staff to him so it didn’t get lost, Peral crept out from his spot among the barrels. He didn’t want to fly in this weather; knowing his wings were really nto strong enough for it, but maybe if he presented a target the dragons would come down!

The dragons above were merely bidding their time until the power within the clouds had built up enough energy for them to consume and fuel their spells with. Peralian leaving his spot merely coincided with this moment, and they charged down just as an enormous lightning bolt split the skies with a deafening crack.

Below, Peralian closed his eyes as he felt the power build up; he knew the bolt was coming! But his hands moved, pulling out an arrow to his bow in preparation.
After the light vanished he opened his eyes and the bow came up; aim and then release. Pull out another and prepare while the other is still in the air; Peralian repeated the words he’d heard his father say to Tarlen while his twin had been training. Peralian’s arrows were enchanted with fire; not the best against the Kiandri, but would b of greater use in the icy land he was headed to. At least, he thought they were fire. But apparently not; the one he’d released had been one of the gifts from his father. And it had fire in it yes… but it was an explosive rune; not a fire enchantment!
The explosion as it hit the dragon just above the ship definitely alerted the entire crew to the presence of the dragons… Peral, seeing the dragon disintegrate took a second to look at the current arrow.
It too had the same flame symbol as the other one. He put it back; a different non-exploding one will do, He thought. Talk about a shock!
He rolled back to the barrels and re-aimed as the last dragon screamed down at him. This close he knew he could hit the eye; his favorite spot to aim. It was small and hard to hit; and he seemed to only be able to actually make a kill with it against dragons... other animals were a lot more agile and tended to avoid them. Guess it’s the dragons arrogance in thinking a small shaft cannot kill them? He thought with amusement as the dragon’s cry was cut off, arrow lodged into the eye; I may not be as practiced with my bow, but I’m still good with it!

Other than that one storm, nothing of interest happened. Peralian, now that the crew saw him as something other than a brat, had spent it learning about the ship. Before they’d told him to go away and stop bothering them but now that they had seen he was actually able to handle himself somewhat, they were more willing to talk. He almost regretted when the ship hit the small port on the coast of Aisko. Almost. But the blue ice cliffs fading into rolling plains of sparkling snow promised adventure and hidden secrets to be discovered! I can always find a ship and go with them and learn later, he thought.

Peral, despite his parent’s advice to travel with the few tribe members on the ship, headed out into the winter wasteland alone. He would go and visit the tribe later! There was a new land to go and discover!
And of course, he ran into trouble immediately. Clambering up the steep slope of the hills that ran down to the beach, Peral barely heard the Bykaldtra before it sprang. His staff, being used as a walking aide, came up and he summoned forth shadow to spear the shape that suddenly lunged at him from the side.

It was dead when it hit him… but it hit him none the less, burying him under the body of the young bykaldtra.

(and bykaldtra killed! Continued rp in here)
