 Because Alan's father pays for it, the young teacher insists that he not be the one to decorate it. Unfortunately, when Alan returned to the apartment to see what his father had done to the space, he was met with a horrifyingly cheerful sight, the apartment bright and cute. He hates it. But, he need a place to keep clothes, so he stays there.

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Alan unlocked the door, walking in and shaking his head at the cheery, happy scent of the air-freshener. He cringed, tossing his keys onto a table and kicking his Chucks off. "Just sit... somewhere," he said, waving at the large white couch and disappearing into the bedroom. The man stripped and tossed his clothes into a hamper, grabbing a pair of dress pants, a light blue button-up, a black vest, and a pair of pink boxer-briefs with cute baby blue flowers. Unlike Reed, Alan didn't own any cologne, so he rushed into the bathroom for a five-minute shower. He washed his hair, then his body, then ran out to dry himself and get changed. He shoved his glasses onto his face and walked back out to the living room, practically hopping into his shoes and shoving his keys into his pocket. "Alright, I'm ready!" he chimed, sitting on the arm of the couch and fixing his shoe laces. "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin "You were my everything.""I'm impressed." Reed said when Alan came back. He was standing in the living room, observing the book collection and the few pictures nearby. "I thought you'd have a mansion or something. Is this some place you ran away from your dad to or is it just a large closet?" he asked and looked back at the scientist. His smirk and eyes gleamed with a joke, but there was also an authentic curiosity to his question."Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." " I insisted on something small-ish," he shrugged, finishing tying his left shoe laces and starting on the other. " Father wanted me to live in a condo near his, saying that it'd be easier to commute, that we'd be able to spend more time together, but I really could care less what he wants. Now he lives about ten miles away and I only have to see him a few times a day when he comes by to check on me. It's only wonderful luck that you never visit me when he's there." After finishing his shoes, the man walked over to the pictures and picked one up, a small slip of paper fluttering to the ground as he did. Alan didn't notice until the photo had already landed face-up between them. It was a photo of a beautiful young woman and a handsome young man, her arms holding a small baby with black hair. She smiled at the cameraman, as if her entire life had been waiting until this very moment. Alan stooped down and snatched the photo up, shoving it into a drawer and slamming it shut. He stood still for a minute, eyes narrowed in anger, then grabbed for Reed's sleeve and started to tug. " We're late for work," he said, trying to get as far away from the picture as possible. "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin"You were my everything."Reed was eyeing a few books in Alan's shelf as he spoke. "Quantum Physics and You", "String Theory and the Universe", what did any of these mean? A bead of sweat rolled down the musician's face as he turned away. That was like reading a different language!
The man caught sight of the photo on the ground and peered over at it. A smile spread across his face as he connected the dots. He was about to ask about Alan's family when he saw him quickly put it away with a malicious look in his eyes. Reed blinked. By what he heard, he knew the kid didn't like his dad much, but was there something deeper than just a rebellious dislike? Deciding to ask sometime in the far future, Reed walked over and held the door open for the scientist. "After you." he murmured."Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Alan dug his buzzing phone out of his pocket as he started toward the door, looking over the dozens of texts sent to him from Dexter. He read them as fast as he could, stopping at the door as a large bead of sweat started to run down the side of his head. "Actually, just you're late. Dexter's taking over my first three classes. He thinks I deserve a rest after last night." Light green eyes glanced up at Reed, lips attempting to smile, albeit nervously. "Heh. Mind if I join you in your class today? I won't make a sound, I promise!" "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin"You were my everything."Reed looked down at Alan then back forward, lifting a hand to rub the back of his head. "There's not much we're doing, really." he said. "Region's this weekend, so I'm having the students practice while each one comes in for a lesson with me." He blinked as his hungover mind pulled a memory out. "Oh that's right, there's a couple musicians wanting to work in the music section that should be starting today. Hopefully they came in in time to help a few students." He looked back at Alan. "Still want to come? You could meet the new teachers, but I won't be able to hang out much because of lessons. In fact, I don't think I'll be seeing you that often this week because of region.""Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." "Of course I still want to come!" Alan clenched his fists tightly and pursed his lips, then relaxed himself and tapped his chin with one finger. "I mean, at any rate, it's better than waiting around and doing nothing for three and a half hours." He suddenly perked up, laughing a little and closing his eyes as he smiled up at Reed. "Besides, you never know. I could be really helpful! I know I don't look it, but I can play a few instruments pretty well." He then tucked his hands into his pockets, strolling out the door. "Now come on. I've never been inside your classroom other than when we first met." Alan peered over his shoulder, sticking his tongue out at the man. "You're late." "The numbers never lie."

Reed chuckled then looked at the rest of what Alan had to say. He rolled his eyes at the very last comment. "Yeah, yeah, you've told me that plenty of times. I'm not that late." he said and pointed to the clock that was only a few minutes after first bell. "Must be handy having a teacher doing everything for you. Maybe I can get those new guys to take over now and then." he mused while walking to his car."Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." "Wouldn't work for you." Alan opened the door on passenger side of the car and leaned on the car itself, smirking at Reed. "You aren't cute enough. You're more... Well, let's put it this way: a lot of students refer to you as "Old Geezer". They don't even call Mr. Hasimoto that, and he's seventy. That should say something about you, Reed." With a wink and a small giggle, the teasing physicist sat in the car and buckled up, crossing his legs and pulling his tablet out of his messenger bag. "Hurry up! I want to meet those new musicians of yours!" he urged, opening up an app. "The numbers never lie."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." He rolled his eyes, pulling his keys from his pocket and picking out the one for his apartment. "Don't be crude," he replied, although he allowed a small smile. Pausing outside the door, he looked up at the taller male. "I know she doesn't really like you, but be super nice, okay? Dana's weirdly fragile this time. I think she really liked him." With a small nod, he reached to unlock and open the door, revealing a tiny ball in the middle of the room.
"Alan?" croaked the ball. Dana slowly uncurled, sitting up and looking to her brother. She was a mess, her hair all tangled and cheeks tear-stained. She held up her arms, and Alan let out a small sigh as he moved closer to sit beside her, hugging her to his body. They were about the same size, herself just barely a little larger, but he still fulfilled the big brother position as they embraced.
After a few minutes, he pulled away, lovingly pushing her hair from her face. "Dana. Hey, it's okay, I'm here," he reassured her, helping her onto the couch and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Do you want a hug from Reed too? He's a really great hugger, I promise."
She looked up at him, then teared up again and nodded. Any contact would do. "The numbers never lie."
