Beelzebub was.... at peace. For the moment anyways, his lids heavy as he stood still as the gnarled trees of the deep swamp. Day in the swamp was gloomy in parts, and he lingered among the shade and the heavier foliage that hung and dragged through the branches and brambles. Muck and roots swirled around his hooves, grime that seeped from his coat melding with the swamp water without much change. His mind, far more solid and keen than he liked to act, was wandering for a small moment.

More foals of his blood. It was a thrilling concept, and from a strong mother... a stable mind. Not that he regretted his time with Typhoid's mother. He still wondered where her travels had taken her and Anthrax. Yet such was the past. The present was.... appealing. Not bright, per say, as he never could envision any timeline with himself present that was bright.... but it was appealing. More offspring meant more opportunities. He did not find.... too many faults with Typhoid's choices.

Usually.

Didn't keep him from remaining hard against his first born. To grow lax would be to allow mistakes and weakness in. A waste of time and effort put into the stallion his first had already become. Time he would again be renewing, putting into a new generation...

His eyes focused, and Beelzebub peered out, catching sight of some of his.... kin? Family? Pack? He was unsure the name they formed, but his maw twisted in a smile filled with blood stained teeth nonetheless. "This is almost.... soothing. How quaint."

----------------------------------------------

"If you're referring to your latest brood trying to hunt being quaint, I'll agree with that," Tyhpoid drawled as he emerged from the deeper waters behind Beelzebub after he'd set down a decent sized doe he'd drowned, shaking his large body slightly to shake off more of the drops before he slipped up past his father's side. Their hides brushed briefly before he turned his red eyes to the runts.

"You could help teach them, you know."

"I'm aware." He left it at that, noting his father's eyes widening slightly as his smile grew all the more contorted on his face. The offspring--his younger siblings--were not his chief concern. At least not yet. They were too new, too untested. They were little more than prey to him when he allowed himself the lax moment, not keeping his mind about him for whom they were birthed from. Oh he could see his father in them well enough, and in that sense his own blood, but he was not yet convinced they deserved either blood that ran through their veins.

His tail flicked, slow and steady as he watched them. There was potential for his mind to change--he was not too stupid to think they could never grow up into fine examples of their heritage. Slowly, he shouldered his kill onto his back and left the shade into the small patches of sunlight that licked through the branches, laying down on the ground somewhat warmed by the light. He... tolerated his half-siblings. He respected Masquerade, and desired no conflict with the small Kalona. His father? Typhoid rolled his shoulders slightly. It was a chief concern to him to make sure the welps were ware whom was the true first born. They could bicker among themselves who was superior among the mixed blood of Masquerade and Beelzebub, but of just the latter...

There was the point Typhoid was far, far too proud of. Rolling his meal back onto the ground, he settled it before he began to rip into the waterlogged fur and flesh. He had already gorged himself on kills earlier in the day, but dragging this particular one back had been intentional. Curiosity to see whom would approach him, whom had the audacity and the self-entitled authority. Or whom had the right instincts this early in the game. All depended on perspective and presentation...

----------------------------------------------

Azrael had immediately kept his eyes on the large purple stallion when he dragged in the kill from the water. His ears flicked, wings rustled at his sides as he watched his half-brother move from near their father to further away, a sunlit patch that was slowly growing bloodstained as he ripped open the flesh. He'd tried meat already, and without question the taste and texture was preferable. Blue hooves hit the ground lightly, careful steps towards where the air was stained with that sharp, alluring scent.

His vision blurred, and the colt stopped, blinking his glowing eyes as pressure built little by little within his skull. Pressure that faded, though did not take with it the blurred vision. Least not for a moment, a time he spent sniffing the air and pawing at the ground uneasily. He flexed his wings, turning back to locate his siblings. His more... immediate siblings. Fighting with them was painful, but good. But the scent was.... very, very tempting. Again the colt paused, looking back to where Typhoid was beginning to rip meat from bones and Azrael felt his mouth water. Surely he wouldn't miss a small piece.... though glutton might run in the family. His wings flexed and extended. Small muscles flapped, moved bones and tendons still not quite yet ready for flight. But what fun it would be to fly up and dive down on the body and steal a bite...

Unless he went and found himself a rabbit again like he managed to earlier. A sickly thing, one that made his vision blur again as he ate, but it was good. He'd even given some to the crows that had accompanied him on his hunt--he wouldn't admit it was only due to them he'd found the cowering thing, but they had been... useful! It had gone too quickly with the beaks in the meek flesh though. Or a fish too close to the shore would be an alternative to rabbit. He'd yet to catch one of those without help of the rats or the crows. But those weren't deer.... hm.

Masquerade lay stretched out on a sunny dry patch of ground nearby seemingly dozing in the sun, her breathing slow and steady. It wasn't very normal for the small kalona mare to be seen sleeping, and one would think it would be much less normal with her new foals running about.

Yet there she was, sleeping almost as still as a corpse herself, only the methodical rise and fall over her side and the occasional twitch of an ear letting anyone know she was still alive.

Enyalius flew overhead, circling to slow his decent for a landing, his shadow casting down on his small family bellow.

In his maw he held a large buck, mostly to feed his sister he had also brought such a large meal juuust it in case the children had not yet found their hooves in hunting enough to fill their bellies, and well maybe because he adored the young ones so. With a furious beating of wings, and a loud thud from his hind hooves the great black and blue male landed.

He dropped the kill on a large flat rock the family used for kills to be shared, and looked around bi-toned eyes taking in everything with a quick glance. He muttered something quietly in German, but first thing first he turned towards Typhoid.

The corner of his lips twitched upward for a moment, and if there was any softness in the kalona it was truly seen when he was with the other stallion. Sometimes thinking back to their first meeting usually made the kalona laugh and shake his head. It was funny how things had changed, he had once hated the kelpi and now the stallion had become the most important creature in his world.

Folding his wings down upon his back Enya approached his mate, brushing his fangs across the top of his neck and down his back as he circled the slightly smaller soq.

Finally he draped his head over Typh's neck "what is wrong my lovely? You're particularly pout-y today."

He did not miss how Azrael had been eyeing his mate's kill as he had landed with the buck, no doubt Typh was testing the youngsters, and Enya couldn't help but bust out into chuckles.

Ardat Lili had split away from the fighting early after hearing something nearby, and somehow the filly had managed to catch a small yet fat, squirrel as it choose the wrong tree to scuttle down in search of nuts to store away for winter. The small critter had let out quiet a terrified screech which had been silenced by the fillies jaws crunching down on it's body.

She had begun prancing back towards the small clearing were her family was parked to show her parent's her first kill. Noting her mother sleeping, she started towards daddy, then Typhoid appeared. She hadn't yet meet her half brother, she glee'd and with a little squeal zoomed towards him dropping her own small kill.

She skidded to a halt though when her brain clicked in, and she realized he didn't seem too happy to see them. She frowned slightly and shifted her hooves, she didn't seem to quiet comprehend what to do; approach him or not .. she just wasn't sure.

When Enya landed and moved directly towards hi brother she finally made her decision and sulkily for a brief moment zipped to her brother Az's side.

She wrapped her tail around a front leg just in case he was having a little episode with his eyes she could use her tail to lead him. "uncle Enya brought some food."

Sammael was still fairly new to the world, already he had a few disappointments, however he wasn't going to let that get to him. He was going to make his mother and father quite proud to have him around. Already his mind raced with all the possibilities of hunting prey and causing trauma for others. He had the distinct feeling that was what he was born to do. He wasn't about to let anyone tell him there was something he couldn't do!

He had wandered some ways off on his own, occasionally glancing back just to make sure he knew where to come back to. Despite his glowing eyes, he could see just fine. He wasn't sure they'd make for all that great of a hunting tool, but he had to try anyway. Of course, he had seen the prize Typhoid and dragged home earlier, but he wasn't about to fool himself into believe he could be as good as his older sibling right away, still he wanted to find a prize all his own as well. Without anything, it would just be too tempting to steal his brother's, and he knew that wasn't likely to go well.

He was getting closer to the water now, where he had been tracking some kind of bird, with a longer neck. He'd been silently following it for a while, watching the movements it made. It was getting quite closer to the water now though, and he didn't want to have to dive in to get it. That was more his brother's profession then his own. He dug his front hoove into the ground and with a little bolt he managed to snap it's thin little neck and carry it off back to his awaiting family.

Upon his return he was surprised to see that his other half-sibling he had been told about had arrived. He hadn't really spent much time with either of his older siblings. He had a little secret rivalry going on with them in his head, although he wasn't really dumb enough to bring it up to them in person. He prodded on over to where his true sibling were and dropped his little prize. He gave his sister and brother a little nuzzle.
