Her side was still hurting but it was healing up nicely. Ubasti hadn’t patrolled for a few nights, deciding it was probably best to stay inside and heal up a bit than risk getting more severely injured. Plus, she got to catch up on some much needed gaming time and that was always a bonus in her mind. She was still on track with her homework, though her sleep had taken just a slight hit to keep up. Gathering energy was no small task, but she needed to get back on that horse and that was what she was doing today!
She really wished she could have on more clothing, but they would be highly inconvenient for her movement. She used her shawl to cover her shoulders, but that was barely any protection. The thing as pretty much see-through so she didn’t expect much protection against the cold but still. Made her wonder why she wore so little and who had chosen this outfit anyway. Ubasti rubbed her shoulders and moved on towards another park, maybe she could catch some couple in their car or something. She’d be able to get a good amount of energy from that as long as she didn’t run into a youma.

Merlinite was nervous tonight. Things had really gotten shaken up in his life recently, and he was not quite sure how to handle it. He had to keep trying his best to help the ailing woman who was currently at his house. He had done what he could, and she seemed to be better off than when he first found her, but he was not convinced that it was enough.
He was still afraid she was going to die.
He was not sure he was prepared to face something like that. Not after trying so hard to rescue her. He was out here hoping he might find someone to help him a bit more, someone he could trust and talk to about it. Maybe a healer, if he was lucky, but so far he had only gotten temporary help. It had only been one night, but it felt like an eternity, and he should be making more progress.
He didn't notice her aura until he was nearly on top of the area. He looked around and spotted a surprisingly familiar face, blinking in surprise.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in," he said, with an uncertain smirk, trying to be himself, "can't say I thought I'd see you again so soon."

No one in the park, so Ubasti decided to let her Mirrorwraith do all the work for her. She’d had enough and it would be fine on its own. She hated tracking it down once it was full of energy, but it was going to be a necessary evil. She usually didn’t let her Mirrorwraith go very far from her, she’d lost one before to a senshi and she didn’t wish to repeat the episode. Another reason to loath the white moon court, didn’t they know how much energy it took to create one of those? And Ubasti had really hated having to go back and get a new one. IT showed how incompetent she was to the older dark mirror.
Ubasti watched it float off into the darkness and turned when she heard a voice she hadn’t heard in a while. “Captain Merlinite.” Her voice held a bit of sarcasm but it was light and not meant as an insult. “Well, I didn’t expect it either but you do owe me.” She gave him a smirk. Maybe her night wouldn’t be a total waste, could be a little productive. Maybe he could teach her a few moves or something, he did say he would and she was going to hold up him to that. Did she shake hands with him now? She wasn’t too sure on the procedure, the older dark moon were supposed to be teaching her this kind of thing. Granted a captain was no joke either. Ubasti moved to get closer to him.

Merlinite took a moment to understand her meaning. He remembered their last meeting ended in him promising to help her learn how to fight. he nodded his head, offering her a grin, but it lacked its usual confidence, as he was fairly distracted by thoughts of the General he was trying to keep from dying.
If that was even possible.
"My not-senshi friend, it's good to see you. I guess I got a little caught up in stuff, but I'm still available to help you if you want me to. Feel like sparring?"
He couldn't say he did, but maybe it would help him take his mind off things. He wasn't the type to share his troubles on a whim, so avoiding the whole issue by doing something else would at least make him feel better for a little while. He hated being worried, it was not something he was used to or wanted to get used to.
Why couldn't he just go back to looking out for himself and only himself?

She couldn’t help but smile at the nickname he’d given her; yes she had defied him calling her a senshi. Her hatred for the White Moon Court extended far beyond that of her hate of the Negaverse. Merlinite was strangely helping her like them a little more if that was possible from her. No White Moon senshi had ever been this amicable on any level. “Yes of course, I’d love to spar with you,” her grin grew wide. “Without magic of course. I don’t think you’d enjoy the itch.” She wasn’t as prepared as she’d like to be, but this would be god practice. “Would you like to go some place more private?”Lithiasaur If he wants to move it some place it we can time jump if you like. Sorry this took so long, no internet plus 2 weeks of school left and I need to get work done @.@

Tasinei (No worries, really! I'm always around. =] ) Merlinite smiled at her and felt a little relief at seeing her, really. She was a familiar face in a sea of relative strangeness and he was glad to have a small buoy to cling to. Very often he felt like he was on the verge of sinking, and the small distractions that popped up, like her wanting to spar, were actually really important to him.
They kept him sane, and gave him a small grasp of perspective. They made the world not seem as strange. Or terrifying. Even though it was.
"Good, no magic, and I won't use my club. I know how much you liked it last time, but I figure I need to use my muscles sometimes, too, eh?"
He was a little more mellow than he usually was, his outgoing attitude tempered by the weight of responsibility bearing down on him. He was doing his best to hide it, though.
"I know a couple places. Let's go." He motioned for her to follow him, leading the way to a quieter place in town, where they could spar without, hopefully, drawing any attention. It was a small, vacant lot behind a run down apartment complex, but the building had been condemned some time ago. It was probably full of homeless people, but they were not going to cause any trouble.

Ubasti made a face at him as she recalled the nasty hit she had taken from him. She still remembered the bruising and how she’d had to hide it from her grandfather. He’d almost caught on but she hid it well, she was too sure on how she would explain such a thing to him anyway. He didn’t exactly know about her other identity and she didn’t want him to know about it either. Bad enough sometimes he stayed up later and she had to lie every time she came home late to cover up. It was going to be worst when her father would be around, she hoped she could manage.
The dark moon senshi followed beside him quietly, content with just following for now. The thought that he might be taking her to some dark part of town to ambush her crossed her mind but she rejected it. He could have killed her last time and he could still do it on his own if he wished to do so. Ubasti smiled, she couldn’t wait to be a little more powerful and on equal footing with him. Sparring would be fun if they ever met up again. “This looks like a good place, I’m going to have to come here when I want to spar with others.” Ubasti walked away from him a bit and turned around to face him. “So now what?”Lithiasaur Awesome biggrin 12 hour shifts on weekends make rp possible xD

Merlinite chuckled, shaking his head and looking as innocent as he could, though he was never fully free of that devious air about him. He tried to force all worry about the injured General and the mess he was in out of his head for now.
There was nothing else he could do at the moment, so why dwell on it constantly and make himself even more miserable?
"Well, now we can fight or something. I gotta say, I need the exercise, and it's good to get out and get my mind on something else. So, how about we just do a little match, no weapons or magic, no winner or loser. We'll just see what the other has, eh?"
He held up his fists, grinning before he moved to fix his stance, bracing himself for a fight and watching her intently.
"I'll give you first swing, too. I'm a gentleman, that way."

“Works for me.” Though it was hard to think of sparring without there being a loser and a winner, when would they stop? If one of them got injured than the other would clearly be the winner. Or perhaps we wanted to spar until they had nothing left in both of them, pushing them to their limits. It was hard for her to wrap her mind around the concept since she was a gamer and there was clearly always a winner and a loser. Ubasti cleared her mind and put up her fists. She needed to concentrate for this.
“How nice of you.” Without warning Ubasti moved towards him as fast as she could, right hook aimed at him. She briefly wondered if maybe she should have asked him for some defensive movements before taking on sparring with him. He clearly knew more about fighting than she did. Oh well, too late now she’d thrown herself right into the mix.

Merlinite was not thinking too much about the sparring match, or how it would work. He just needed a bit of a break from everything else, and a friendly (enough) match with her was basically the best option he had at the moment.
Not that he could explain that to her, as he would look like an idiot.
Though he was pretty sure he already did.
That thought was confirmed when he forgot that he had offered her first swing and immediately got caught by that attack. He let out a strangled yelp when he fist collided with his face, but he tried to catch his balance and struggle and attack her in retaliation. It was a bit of an awkwardly aimed swing, but he at least managed to defend himself a little bit.
"You've got a good punch, but let's see your foot work!" he heard himself say.

Lithiasaur Tags should come much quicker now that I am done my finals smile Ubasti’s expression crinkled in concern briefly when her fist connected because she knew the power she had put behind it without perhaps holding back just a little. This was a friendly match after all, maybe she should have been more careful with her fist. Ubasti saw his own swing and stepped back a few steps to give them a bit of space. If she did not avoid his strikes by moving back far enough each time he was going to land some hits, she was going to have to be careful. She could throw punches, but close hand to hand combat was not exactly her forfeit. “Sorry about the face.” She said a bit sheepishly.

Merlinite felt his swing go moving harmlessly through the air, and he knew he was not going to do very well in this match. He was too unfocused by Gently and all the strange things he had been forced into recently, with the lingering feeling that it was not going to get easier any time soon.
He was going to do his best to give her a work out, though, and at least offer her some of the help he had promised her. He knew that the best way to do that was just to make her think on her feet, and give her a good opponent. He followed after her as she moved, noting her hesitation and seeing the way she was slowed in her movements by thought.
"You have to just let your body do the work for you: think too much, and you'll get caught up in a mess. You have to think less about what you're doing and more about what your opponent is doing."
He did catch her apology, but he was not too worried about it. He had signed up for this little fight, after all, and it was his fault for not being focused enough. He kept swinging after her, keeping as close as he could, trying to force her to the kind of combat she did not seem to like.

It was easier said than done; Ubasti was always plotting and planning her next moves carefully. Her body couldn’t react on its own if she didn’t teach it to first. She was going to get on those lessons asap. If Merlinite noticed than others would too and that meant it was a weakness and a disadvantage to her that she needed to correct right away. “It’s hard.” She muttered, not wanting to complain about it but still feeling the need to say it out loud. He couldn’t forget that she was not a super yet, which meant he one upped her the whole time.
Still as he moved closer to her with speed Ubasti tried to move back but he pushed forward. She would be unable to get away from his attacks this time, this she knew. She moved to be even more on the defensive side but even then his hits still managed to land on their targets and she flinched with every hit. Ubasti could not keep up with him, she as still thinking too much and every time she blocked hit from him he was on her with another. When she saw her opening, she tried to get a kick to his abdomen to try and move back. “I can’t do this.”

"I know," Merlinite said, when she mentioned how difficult a fight could be, nodding but offering her a grin. He was not going to make it too easy, of course, so complaining would not soften him up. He imagined she knew that, though, and the hardest things in life were usually the ones most worth working for, right? He tended not to subscribe to that theory, as up until now he had always been one for the path of least resistance, but he was learning more and more that he was very wrong about a lot of things.
Being able to help others was actually helping him open his eyes a bit more, it seemed. Maybe he would actually stop being a selfish jerk some time, and actually start caring about others. It just worried him what people would end up being the ones he really cared for... the White Moon or the Negaverse.
That was a chilling thought, and he quickly shoved it from his mind.
He watched her movements more than he paid attention to his own, but not to counter them. Mostly he was watching how she reacted, seeing her struggle, but noticing the natural impulses she had that were good and would aid her. She held back a lot, and spent more time blocking than looking for attacks.
"You block too much and you'll have nothing left to block: you're taking damage and getting worn out either way. You have to take a risk sometimes, and just go for an opening when you see it. You don't want to let your enemy attack and just block it: you want to prevent them from attacking in the first place. Even if they're throwing a swing at you and you see it coming, you can learn to react to it before it lands, and use it to your advantage."
He did slow his attacks though, to explain his lesson. He pulled an arm back slowly to show her the way he left parts of his body open when he was focusing on his swings, as most fighters would unless they were particularly good.

Lithiasaur Going to be online all day doing tags if you want to get this done C: Sorry took so long to get back to you! Every time he landed a hit on her it was like he was pressing a button repeatedly. Ubasti could feel her anger just itching to explode on her but if she did that then she`d certainly lose this fight. Then again, the fight was already not looking too good for her so maybe it would be best. Ubasti tried to keep her focus on him and the task at hand, if only she was a super though… No that would not change a thing if she didn`t learn to fight. She took some deep breaths as she tried to focus.
“That makes sense.” Though applying it was a whole other can of worms. Still she listened and she took what he said seriously and tried to be more on the attack. She didn’t hit him when he slowed down his attacks, only avoided them since Ubasti wanted to listen and she felt it would be detrimental and quite underhanded if she’d hit him while he was distracted. Now she wanted to put to put to good use what he’d told her. Her eyes watched for the openings when he swung at her and tried to counter where she saw her opportunity. She also tried o change it up between kicking and punch trying to catch him off guard.
