Nuawahn had managed to conquer his confusion long enough to gravitate towards the medic tent, a place he could comprehend. He hesitated outside of it, remembering the trials of potion making he had undergone inside it, and the confusion he had felt when Ogbonna had burst in to take him away. He still couldn't remember what had happened next: the fog claimed it, as it claimed so many things – but he did remember the shouting and scolding and fear he had felt as the Obans had forced him to work long and hard.

But he also knew there were injured people – Oban people, but people – in there, and his hands itched to help them.

He clasped those hands together, fidgeting and biting his lip as he halfheartedly battled his indecisiveness, preferring the fence to committing to either side. Of course, someone might force him to either side, to leaving or helping, and he dreaded that as much as he desired it: someone who would make the decision for him would be mean, yes, but it would stop the agony of waiting and wondering and thinking, an act that – despite the receding of his headache – still hurt.

They'd lost. After all this time in Jauhar, Shalvesta had never expected that losing was truly a possibility. But they'd lost. Not just a battle - but the entire plan of expansion. Many Obans were disappointed, many more, like her, were simply in shock. It had come out of nowhere - the coup that overtook their king, and Shal simply didn't know what to think about it.

Well, she didn't think she could stand against this new king. He was making a lot of enemies, but somehow the idea of standing against the father of one of the people who had been so kind to her here just felt wrong. So instead Shalvesta focused on her own care, and let it lie at that. She hadn't been injured in the battle, not too badly, but she HAD gotten hit a few times by those who attacked her - so she headed to the healer tents, hoping to get something to soothe the scrapes and bruises she'd suffered.

Once there though, she spotted him - the blonde wind earthling who had become a Loyalist. He was standing near the tent, ignored by the Obans who bustled about in the aftermath of the battle. Shalvesta could walk right past him and no one would notice. But somehow, the way he held himself - unsure, frightened... was so familiar to her. She didn't have the heart to ignore him. So instead Shalvesta stepped towards him and stopped a few paces away, close but not stepping within his space. "Thank you. For... your aid, in the battle. I could have been killed without your support." Her words were quiet, sincere - and accompanied with a weak smile.

"What is your name? Mine is Shalvesta."

Nuawahn looked up blankly at the voice, which stood out from the crowd of grumbles and mumbles and was a welcome distraction from the sheer vastness of everything. It took a while to bring it's source into focus, but soon he recognized her – somewhat – as the Oban from the battle, the one who had gone up, almost alone, with her sword against the monstrous creature... the one he had helped.

He smiled, equally weak and equally genuine. Her kind words were like water on parched lips after all the anger he had been exposed to. You're welcome...” he said. He did not know what else to say, and for a moment that was all that there was.

And then, like a light amid the haze, he realized that his decision had been made for him. His smile brightened (though was dimmed, like the sun on an overcast day) as his confusion dissolved away, replaced by the attitude of follow-the-leader. The lady was confident and nice, though an Oban, and she would know what to do.

“I'm Nuawahn.” he said, taking a few steps closer, ”I'm glad you're alive...” And so he was, which brought forth a note of concern, and another sudden realization. ”Are you okay?” he asked, his frown returning and deepening into concern, some of the innocence of... before... returning with it as well.

If she was going to the healer's tent, maybe she had gotten hurt when he wasn't looking... Maybe she needed his help!

He had accepted her thanks, but the wan, worn look on his face made her pause, chewing her lip and regarding the man in concern. It was possible it was just sorrow for the lost battle, but somehow... Shalvesta doubted it. She was ready to nod her head, wish him luck, and continue on - but before she'd even turned away a bright smile crossed his face, and the blonde shuffled closer, causing her to blink at the sudden change that had overtaken him.

But she had his name now- and he seemed to want to continue this conversation. "Oh, I... just a few bumps." Shalvesta said quickly, shoulders hunching a bit. She was still getting used to being seen as a warrior, and not a delicate civilian - but the concern was welcome.

”Are you sure?” Nuawahn held out his hands as he approached, almost as much a question as what he had said, and as non-threatening as anything he had done up to that point. ”Let me take a look.” he said, ”It's good to be sure!” He'd healed her on the battlefield, he knew (or thought he knew) but there was always the chance he'd missed something.

And that would have been bad. Plus, it would keep her here, talking, like nice people did. Nua was nice. Shalvesta seemed nice. The other Obans...

Please? he didn't quite ask.

(more than a month later @@;; )

Well... he was a healer, that was sure enough - so why not? Shalvesta relaxed, then gave a nod of assent, nervously stepping closely so that he could inspect her properly. "I... thankyou - it's just a few bruises though! I don't want you to use your strength healing such small things." Shalvesta explain with a nervous laugh - she felt quite silly for concerning someone, when she truly WAS fine - absolutely fine!

No one seemed to know what to do in the aftermath of the battle - tending to their normal duties as if they would find answers in them. Denying him some form of distraction seemed unnecessary, since she DID have a few scrapes here and there. Mostly her side and legs from rolling and dodging the Yaotl.

”I don't mind.” he said honestly, beginning his inspection with all the focus he could muster – anything to draw that focus away from the uncertainty surrounding him and the fear of the unknown that stretched before him.

”You're right!” he said, relieved, ”Only a scrape here...” he touched it briefly, healing it with little effort, ”And there...” he healed that one too. He didn't bother with the bruises – they would go away on their own.

”So you are okay!” he smiled at her tiredly, ”I had to... I had to check.” Just to be sure. He gave her a hug, quick and friendly, and pulled away before she could respond.

”Sorry.” he said, a little blushingly. It was rare for him to apologize for a hug, especially one that he had needed so badly. But there had been nothing else to do, no injury to use as an excuse to keep her there. ”... I don't want you to go away just yet, okay?” he admitted uncertainly, fidgeting with his beads, ”But I don't know what to do.”
