Her upgrade had arrived at just the right time. Just as she was starting to doubt her own abilities and her place in this war, Aludra had been given a second wind. She could feel the new power now as she raced through the night. It felt good to run, to throw her all into simple movement, faster, stronger. A voice in the back of her mind counselled against being too confident. She still couldn't combat a spear but at least now she had more of a chance. Aludra stopped to catch her breath, leaning against the wall of a shop. The little line of shops was closed and dark, with only the street lights for company. It seemed a safe enough place not to be noticed, so she stepped out in front of a store, using the window as a mirror. She held up the edges of her fuku, admiring the new designs and then did a twirl to inspect the bow. She was happy for all of three minutes, for soon darker thoughts intruded and vague memories of black instead of white. It was still terrifying to remember everything from that ‘nightmare’. Most days she refused to think about it but there was too much, too much to just forget. The memories of it was scattered but enough of them stood out that it made her squirm with both embarrassment and fear. It will never come to pass, she continued to promise herself, it was just a horrible dream.

Why did he even bother to do this anymore? Especially after everything that had happened, that he'd seen? Was there a point to this? Any of it? If there was, he would sure as hell like someone to point it out to him. Because clearly he was looking in the wrong places. Sighing he pushed off the wall he'd been sitting on, continuing down a path he had long since memorized in his sleep. An aura pulled at the edges of his senses. It felt familiar, yet different. He followed it, almost blindly to find a young senshi at the end of it. Of course it was her. It almost always seemed like it was her. "I'd say we have to stop meeting like this... But you'd probably sass me about how everything leads back to you." Or something. She'd told him that before... And she'd told him that in the future didn't she. Ruriska e Ae;; Sorry, the last few months have been a bit of a drag and it kinda affected my drive to do tags.. I'm slowly trying to cycle through them.

Dionysus was the last person she’d expected to run into, or was that actuially the last person she wanted to run into. As soon as she felt his aura, there was a blush on her cheeks. She felt guilty and angry and sad and embarrassed all at the same time. It wasn’t fair to him if she acted out on any of those and so, as he finally reached her, she was still blushing but had at least regained some composure. “I think I’ve run out of sass today, so you’re safe.” Her mind stubbornly clung to the image of him as an older teenager, of what they’d done together, how they’d acted. In your dreams, she reminded herself. In that terrible dream. She felt as though she’d wandered into an adult movie and couldn’t take back what she’d seen.

The blonde tried really hard to ignore her blush, mostly cause he didn't want to admit to the one he felt creeping up on him. "How unlike you.." He murmured. She always had some sass about pathways. Always. It was a near constant thing with her, so that alone told him that something was off. It probably wouldn't take long for him to figure what she was dwelling though. He probably could guess with out even really trying. Damn memories. He sighed softly. "Do you wanna talk about it?" They should probably talk about it... At least some parts of it. They could leave out whatever they didn't want to talk about and the other could just fill it in with their imagination. Better to do it now rather then later right?

Aludra had decided her shoes were utterly fascinating and was busy staring at them so she wouldn’t have to look up at him. She tugged lightly at one of her hair bows, giving herself something to do and trying desperately not to look so uncomfortable. He was her friend; regardless of all that. "Talk about what?" She squeaked, gaze flicking up and then back down again. "Hey, you’ve gotten taller." But as tall as you will get. "Did you see? I upgraded." To distract the both of them, she stepped back and did a twirl to show off her new outfit.

"You know what." He said with a small huff. Still, the taller blonde walked over and sat on one of the stoops in front of the store. "I have... I've been doing that a lot lately." He mumbled. Dionysus grinned. "Well now I can see, since you're not hiding from me and all that.." The senshi humored her, clapping lightly at her twirl. "I did too kinda?" He scratched his neck, blinking. "Can you feel it, my aura's different now." It wasn't that of a chibi senshi's. Still, he held out his hand, offering her a seat next to him on the stoop if she chose it. If she stood, that was fine too. "Unless you've got a whole gymnastics routine you're about to bust out, twirls only work for so long." Ruriska SIT IN HIS LAP AND CRY ALUDRA. DO IT

She finished her twirl and stood watching him, her hands beginning to tremble just ever so slightly. Aludra had started to convince herself that it had been only her. That it really had been just a nightmare and had no real truth to it. Faced with Dio, she couldn’t play pretend anymore. She’d known, deep inside, that how or why, she hadn’t been the only one sharing the experience. What would Amethyst say if she asked him? What of Persephone? She took his hand and sat down beside him on the stoop but didn’t let go. Instead she held on tight, entwining her fingers into his. "You do feel different. Older, I guess. Stronger." Then she started crying. She was probably just as surprised as he would be to realize there were tears streaming down her face and sobs catching in her throat.

Surprisingly, Dionysus didn't try to pull his hand back when she entwined their fingers, only giving her hand a small squeeze. He snorted quietly, a small smile on his face. "I'm fourteen now you know... my birthday was a couple months ago." Then she started crying, and for a moment he just blinked stupidly at her, tense and unsure what to do before relaxing. Turning, he wrapped his free arm around her, guiding her head to his shoulder. "It's okay Alu..." He said softly. "It's gonna be okay, I promise." The blonde senshi didn't let go of her hand, he seemed to hold it all the more tighter. Ruriska Dio being nice? What is this crap.

No matter what happened. No matter which path they ended up walking down, together or apart, Aludra would remember this moment and his kindness. She clung to him and let out all of her fears and frustrations in her tears. Though they had seemed endless, eventually the crying stopped and she sat quietly with her head on his shoulder. It was exhausting but something heavy that she had been carrying had been set free. "We have to promise to stand by each other and never," she squeezed his hand, "be like that." [Mistress Morbid] have we stepped into the twilight zone?!

Dionysus let her cling. He wouldn't fight it. Not this time. The blonde tightened his grip on the arm around her, pulling her into a tighter hug, letting her know he was there. So the pair sat there. Dionysus, with his arms wrapped around the smaller girl, head resting against hers. Aludra, her head perched on his shoulder and hands curled tightly in the fabric of his fuku. "We can promise all we want Alu but..." The pair could promise not to corrupt. Not to become what they saw. But they both knew the truth. They'd seen it before. Sometimes, they wouldn't get a say in the matter either. In rarer cases... They saw it from their own side. "But yeah... You uh... You don't know what I was doing back there.." His hand moved, as he rubbed her back absently, like his mom use to do when he was little. "...This may not be the time, but uh, I don't know about you but I think I'm swearing off chocolate for a long time..." And maybe zoos. But he wouldn't say that out loud. Ruriska Oh it coulda been worse. I almost had him kiss her hood.

He was right, of course. "Then I suppose we’ll just have to do our best. Protect each other." It was insane that at thirteen years old she could now say to herself with absolute conviction that she would rather die than be corrupted. "It doesn’t matter what you were doing," she said, closing her eyes and enjoying his comforting hold. "I was just as bad." Death, betrayal, insanity, giving her body to anyone and anything. Aludra gave a smothered laugh. "But I really love chocolate cake." She’d actually turned down a trip to the zoo last Saturday and her mother had been extremely surprised. Unfortunately, her once favourite destination would remain off-limits for some time.

"We can give it a shot." However the blonde sighed and shook his head. "It mattered to some people.. Just not me." It mattered to those in charge of him, and it mattered to those the families of the lives involved. The blonde relaxed a little as she leaned against him, for once, he wouldn't shove her away and shy from contact. "I bet I could argue that.." But he wouldn't. "I know you do." He chuckled lightly. "But if it's all the same to you, I'm gonna skip it next time. I probably won't eat it for a while."

"We're not to blame for any of it. That isn't who we really are." They'd been forced to become monsters but that didn't make the memories any easier to deal with. "Please don't." She was sure they could each sit down and write out an essay but that wouldn't achieve anything and she was gad when he he said nothing more on the matter. "Fair enough. You know, I actually might choose a strawberry cake for my next birthday." Here, right now, Aludra felt safer and more content than she had for a long time.
