Shou inherited her mentor, Araki Fukuda's, home after she became captain of Squad 7. Since she has moved in she has also moved Araki's father there as a way to keep company and not lose touch (the house being too big for just for Shou to live in).

It is up some ways away from the main grounds of the Squad 7 barracks, the way distinguished by a elegant and natural stone path. At the end of the woodland path is a gate that once passed through leads to the grounds of the property.
x
Like the barracks the gates are made in beautiful stonework and wood craftsmanship. Not as big as a noble family's estate the property includes:
+Rock Garden on the East side of the house
+Large porch on the direct back of the house
+Backside of the house leads into another rock path down to a small pond.

+Bedroom

x
The inside is nice and welcoming with the main living/social area being next to the large porch so it has a view of the garden's wildlife. In this area is also a small shrine by the wall for Araki that is prayed to everyday and at the other end is a door that leads to a hall towards the kitchen.

The garden was quiet with only the sounds of rushing water from the stream filling the void of silence. The sun barely risen to morning a woman, the lady of the household, sat meditating on the ground with her zanpakuto stabbed into the ground before her. She was motionless but her expression was at ease and even happy, a small smile escaping her lips. In the quickest of moves something leaped at her from the bushes. Her sharp green eyes shot open and she turned to catch the assailant. Not so much an assailant, with brown fur and stubby legs, a dog wagged its tail in excitement as she held it away from her body in both hands. She sighed lightly and brought the pup closer into her lap. She scratched him behind the ears and began to pet his neck gently while saying in a light ton of voice, “Well now you’re awfully early Aimaru huh?” The pup barked and licked her face, making her turn away from the slobber. She giggled and stood up, putting the pup down. She looked around the garden and noticed the sun rising, like always it was gorgeous but today she had started earlier than usual, most likely due to her lack of sleep the prior night.

Today signified the anniversary of her mentor’s death and, like every time before, she felt a gaping sadness envelop her whenever he entered her mind. Her zanpakuto understood her to where they had conversations almost every day, but today her concentration kept her from speaking to it much. She grasped the hilt and pulled it from the ground and slid it back into the sheath, “Thank you my friend,” she whispered as she bowed her head down in respect. Back down to the dog she smiled and pointed up to the house, “Come on I’ll get you some breakfast.”

The pup skipped up the stone path happily with Shou trailing slowly behind. She wasn’t in any too much of a rush to do anything this morning. As long as she had her morning meditation with Hato, her zanpakuto, she was content. The pup jumped onto the porch and as Shou put on her slippers that were laying under the porch in a small mat she heard another noise from behind her. She looked over her shoulder and two cats, a calico and a pure black, appeared with larger beige dog with darker spots around its body. She was happy to see more showing up, now certain her home was one of safety and comfort for these poor strays. She went over and picked up the two cats and the large dog followed them to the porch where she opened the doors to the dining room. The single table in the middle of the room made it seem bigger than it was, the small area where a photo of Araki was sitting made it seem like a room of memorial than common dining. She sat at the table and prepared bowls of rice for her and some bowls of animal chow for the strays sitting with her. As they ate she did so but stared into space, today was not going to be an easy day...

Shou scarfed down the last of the rice she had prepared and gathered her wares. She stood up and took them to the kitchen and carefully place them in the sink. Her movements were slow and her face a solemn expression, for the first time since she became captain of squad 7, she really didn't want to go in today. Aimaru scampered in and wagging his tail let out a light yelping bark. It snapped her out of her empty trance and she picked him up and cradled him in her arms, "Aw don't worry little guy Shou here is okay..." She walked back into the dining room, but was a little surprised to see the cats and other dog had left. Most of the time that is how it was: they come for food then run back into the world. She held Aimaru closer to her chest thinking about the dangers it posed for the strays. She made her way over to the small table with Araki's picture placed in the middle. She sat Aimaru down next to her and she held her hands together and prayed for a moment. She partially opened her eyes back up and bowed her head, "Have a wonderful day Fukuda Sensei...
After some time she had made her way around the house getting ready for the day, morning bath, getting into her shinigami robes, but the one thing she always had trouble with was finding her captain's jacket. She took it off so often as to not ruin it during sparring or training sessions it was bound to end up somewhere. After looking in the hall closet she sighed loudly and bent her head down in shame,"How the heck can I be a captain if I can't even keep track of the jacket!?" she asked herself. Suddenly a thought shot into her mind like a lightning bolt,"OH! A glimpse of yesterday presented itself:
Shou was in her office when a young squad member entered. She welcomed him and he requested a practice match with her at the pit. She beamed a smile and happily accepted the young man's request. At that moment she removed her jacket and folded it on her desk. She walked out with the young man to spar.
She jolted up and made her way to the door where she put on her sandals. Barely giving herself time to tie them she stood up and ran out of the house and towards the exit gate, "See you Aimaru! Don't eat any mats!" she screamed back to the young pup who sat on the porch, giving her a look of confusion then walking back inside.
