User ImageThe night was nearly at its end and most of those who needed to feed were returning to the cave. Normally Chronos would have pushed the lack of light for exploring or time with his good friend, brother he might dare say (but not of blood). However, this morning, with the energy he had from feeding off some generous fire-kin, he had to focus on more stage mechanics. The puppets the Toy Maker had worked so hard on needed more than a fancy backdrop or props, they needed LIFE! Ergo, a good voice behind them or someone to be on stage with them.

Chronos had been so busy with other projects that he had failed to venture out from the grand theater to find such talents that should grace the stage. To make matters worse, Gabriel was due to show up any minute to discuss plans.

Chronos released a soft sigh as he glanced at the golden rim of the stage. He sat back on his haunches with his tail curled lightly around his feet. His wings folded neatly against his back. Perhaps it would have been wise to spend more time in the tribe's walls than to try and invent some wonderful drink. Even if that was the most amazing drink!

*ahem*

"Well old friend." He hummed to the stage. "What should we do?"

User ImageThis was the way to the stage? Right? She'd followed the directions that she'd been given to the theater, and now she stood in it. Funny, but she'd expected--something different? She wasn't sure what she expected. But she was tired, and in this state, Udide couldn't expect anything much. But the building was impressive, grand. Perhaps not as refined as it could be, but the world was still young--there was time to fancy the place up a bit more in years to come. But for now, the theater needed life more than anything else, and just as she'd promised, not so long ago, to give her blood, she would give life to this theater.

Well, that made it sound grand, didn't it? Really, it was this place and the people in it who would be doing a favor for her, letting her live her dreams, light on her feet and oh, so very alive. She was still gazing at the grandeur of the house when she noticed the tahtll on stage. This must have been Lord Chronos (lord in her mind, at least), the stage master. She'd been sent to speak to him. Erm. How was she supposed to approach him? Directly was really the only way she could think of in her mind. "Er, excuse me?" she said in the echoing silence (oh, yes, that sounded good--not the silence, but a voice within it. Sound carried well here). "Milord Chronos? I was sent to speak to you? I'm ah, hoping to audition." That was not a good start, no indeed.

Chronos' ears swiveled back and bounced to the delightful tone that seemed to shine in the silence. Well, that was a brilliant refresher. One would think the polite thing to do would be to turn about and face the 'guest'. However, Chronos waited until she needed a response before standing and turning about to face her.

"Splendid!" He hummed. "Well, if your actions have a presence as your voice does, I would be glad to have you."

The white puff of his tail flicked about in thought. Bright pink eyes bounced about the potential talent before him.

"Whenever you are ready, my dear, take your place on stage." He flicked a wing toward the steps to the right of the stage.

Thankfully he had set the candles out earlier to work on different shadow angles. He was fine with the darkness, however, this one was obviously not of his tribe and likely did not share his keen sight for the night.

"Perform whatever inspires you." With a taken breath he rose his head and offered a twisted sort of smile. It wasn't that he was trying to be intimidating, more so, he had learned that a half grin-smile was just fun to twist his face into.

Udide smiled at the way that Lord Chronos turned around. He had a flair for drama, and a command of his surroundings, and he projected his voice well. She felt confident that he would be a good director for the stage--he seemed to be almost a part of it, as though the stage had an appendage that was Chronos-shaped standing upon it.

He seemed to consider her for a moment before inviting her to perform. There was only a moment of hesitation when she set her paws on the stage. Perform? Perform what inspired her? But how? Ah, but of course--improvisation! It was a test, and she let herself search inside herself for an idea. The feeling of the stage beneath her paws was helpful. It called to her--this was home, and all she had to do was speak to make it hers. The stage-master's twisted smile helped, too. It hinted of whimsy, more importantly, of a dedication to the stage. Lord Chronos belonged here. And, Udide told herself firmly, she belonged here too.

All she had to do was prove it.

She took a deep breath as her mind made its decision. This was a new beginning, for her, for the theater, for the world itself--what better could she do than to perform a beginning? She cast herself onto the stage, carefully, so as not to hurt herself. She knew there were some that could act with only their voice, but she preferred the physical feel of movement. It felt more...authentic, more real, to move. It felt like a better way to perform. Upon the ground, she curled herself into a ball, then, once in position, she opened her eyes, as if dazed, and blinking, slowly uncurled. "What...is this?" Slowly, she stood up, her legs shaking as if unused to such motion. "A...cave? Is that the word? Is that the way such wonder is expressed? For what I see, a congregation, an amalgamation, no--a constellation of the starry night expressed across the spelian vaults, across pillars and across the columns divine."

Her eyes still cast towards the sky, she continued playing out the situation in her head--that of a Dark Triber awakening all alone in the darkness beneath the mountains. "I feel my spirit moved--though spirit never I felt before. And, what's this? From whence these limbs? O hallowed wings they surely be, to bring the sacred stars to me!

"So what am I?" Here her voice dropped low to contemplative tones, and her head dropped as well to let her face frown at her feet. "What am I, awake to cave, and born beneath the glinting stars? What am I, but born to dark? Yes. Yes, born to dark am I, alive with spirit, alive with night, alive to watch the stellar lights. To watch and learn and make new things, to stretch each night my leather'd wings!"

She felt she could go on--she was prepared to switch perspective, as of the theoretical Dark Triber meeting their Arch-Magus, all worry about over-acting or under-acting swept away in the moment and the role.

I am so, so slow, and I am so, so sorry. This post took me forever because, er...I'm not good at improv, m'self xP I wasn't sure what she should do!
