Kadryn leaned through the door to Tarlen's room; "Hey Tarlen, grab your gear." She said with a grin. She was already geared up, mace slung in its sling along her bak, thick poncho over her normal leather hunting outfit. "I want to take you out and see how you fight. We'll be going after a few Baowi's that your father found tracks to going through our valley." It'd be good to actually get some time with her twins... lately they'd been gone more often than not and she was felling a little lonely. Of course she had Kirosh, but that was completely different! I bet my mother felt like this when I kept flying off to go hunting, she thought wryly. "I'll let you do the tracking as well. See how much you've picked up."

Tarlen was bored. He had gone out and tried tracking the last dragon a few times, but was unable to find it. It was discouraging him. So he sat in his room playing with his small blades. At the sight of his mother a huge grin spread over his face, and her words made him even happier. He was going out with his mother! Although it wasn't the first time, he loved doing this with her. Plus he wanted to prove himself and make her proud. He was a little worried about the tracking part, mostly because he had no luck with tracking the dragon, but hopefully she could give him some pointers.
"Fighting I'm good at, the tracking I do need some work on..." he admitted to her as he grabbed his bow and stashed his small blades in his boots. Although he didn't like admitting his downfalls, it wasn't as bad telling his mom. He knew that she was awesome at it and the best way for her to teach him and give him pointers was to know what he sucked at. Otherwise it would take much longer for him to get better.
"Okay I'm ready!" he said as he walked over to her. This was going to be fun.

Kadryn chuckled and ruffled Tarlen's hair. "Don't sweat it! I know the area the tracks pass through, we'll go there and then you take the lead. If you can't find it I'll show you. No one's perfect... and I know for a fact your twin's worse than you at tracking! He hasn't practiced as much... but he'll be getting a crash coarse soon." She sighed; she wished she could teach him; but she still got lost these days! Tracking and hunting she could do... but Peralian was heading to Asiko soon and he would need far better skills than she had. Kirosh had told her that the hunters at the Tribe would be told and would be there to keep an eye on her boy... It still sucked though! She lead him across the half frozen stream that flowed near their house and to the far end of their valley where there were a few caves that always attracted animals. They were empty now, but the Baowi's had used one to rest the other night. "Alright! To work my boy." She fluffed his hair again. "There are tracks and other signs of animals about here. More than just Baowi so be careful!"

She was so reassuing. He didn't know how Peralian was leaving. Sure he wanted adventure too, but to leave his mother and father behind for that long... No he wasn't ready for that just yet. He would be staying close to home for some time yet. Plus he wanted to be ready for just about anything when he did leave, and he knew he wasn't ready for that just yet. "I still can't believe he'll be leaving soon..." he said to his mom with a frown. He didn't want his twin to leave, purely for selfish reasons. He loved his parents and wanted to stay with them, but his twin was different, they had a special bond that he knew he wouldn't have with anyone else. He wasn't sure how much he would like it when he left.
Once they got to the area he looked around, his eyes straining for any clues to where the Baowi had gone. She was right to say there were other tracks around, which only made his job harder. Some of them he recognized and some he didn't. Each time he saw a new set of tracks he had to call to mind the one time he had seen Baowi tracks and try to compare them. After a few minutes he thought he had them. "I think they went that way?" he asked as much as he said. He was pretty sure, but not totally convinced they were the right tracks.

She sighed and shrugged. "I'd like to say that I would want him to stay home and not leave either. But I left at an early age so I know how he feels. Sometimes adventure just calls and your feet itch to leave. He's a bit more reckless than you!" Her sigh was far more aggravated this time. He also liked using magic a lot.. and seemed to be hurting himself with it! At least I never hit myself with my mace, she thought sourly, but he can hurt himself with this power! Hopefully Aisko will teach him restraint. Reckless and foolish actions get you killed out there.. She hummed happily as she enjoyed the scenery while waiting for Tarlen to try and find the tracks. She gave him an approving smile when he found the set of tracks that were Baowi. "Let's head that way then~" She said as she motioned him to lead on. "Can you tell me how many you are tracking?"

"Dad did too didn't he?" he asked curiously. What was wrong with him that this adventure didn't call him yet called the rest of his family? Was there something wrong with him? It wasn't like he didn't like to adventure, it was more that he just liked to adventure closer to home is all. "Isn't that how you two met? Maybe Peral will find a girl while away." he said with a laugh. He couldn't see his brother with a girlfriend, he personally still thought of girls being anything other than friends as kind of pointless.
When she said for the two of them to head after the tracks he beamed. Although she hadn't said he was right he had to be. After all she wouldn't have them following the wrong tracks, unless that was part of the learning. Oh well, he would just have to follow the tracks and see. He started following them, stopping a few times when he thought he lost them. His mother's question had him thinking. "Um... Four?" he said looking at them. Although sometimes it looked like there was less than four sets of tracks he was pretty sure that back in the beginning he had seen four sets.

Kadryn chuckled; "Yup! Though it was years after we both left home... Wonder what type of person Peral will bring home?" She mused half to herself. Not that she thought he'd bring one back considering how annoyed he was with the one girl he actually really talked to more than once! "It'll be years though I'm guessing. Peral's way to into searching for magic." She sighed. The whole magic thing was something she was proud of... but also sad over. She couldn't teach him anything about that! And it was dangerous... why couldn't he have gone two weapons? Both the boys went for different weapons than me, she thought with an inner pout. "Four is one too many." She said with a smile. "I can spot two full tracks with a third coming and going... Point out what made you think there were four." The tracks were a bit mrs fresh than she originally thought; the Baowi's must have ben through here soon... better stop and give him some pointers before we get too close. 667/900 words
