Thank goodness for her, new room assignments had been posted up fairly quickly once all the eggs had hatched and the Weyrlingmaster knew who all had Impressed. But that just meant she now had to face living with a new person. And living with a dragon. Avalinia - who was now Av'nia as she and Druith had decided sounded the prettiest - had found an old cloth in her small bag of things. She was dusting off everything to make sure it was neat and tidy enough for herself and whoever her new roommate was to be.

Leananth and Hers. Druith said with a yawn from where he had perched himself beside the bed Av'nia chose.

"Oh. Yes. Laenara, I believe." She murmured, still having a hard time grasping the concept of thinking her words. It would certainly take time. At least she was worrying more about that then the new room. And the other occupant that would arrive any time.

The sapphire blue let his eyes close as drowsiness pulled at him. I think I will nap, Niamine. Then we have a... party? to go to? He had decided to give His a very special name. And she seemed to really like the one he chose.

The former drudge paused in her dusting, giving her dragon a loving smile that was much out of practice. "Yes. You nap, beloved. I just want to make sure everything is neat." And it was. Well, as neat as a weyr could be she figured. Next step was probably putting her small amount of possessions away. And meeting Laenara and her dragon.

Old habits die hard and while Lae had gone to her hiding spot to check over and over again that her few prized possessions were safe. As a weyrling, she had better clothing that her dull gray and brown clothing. Now, she wore a simple tan shirt tucked into a matching pair of pants and sturdy black boots. They had been paired up with a girl she didn't know... Ava? and her dragon. A blue if she thought correctly.

Leananth commented as she walked slowly next to Lae.

It was moreso because she was a little winded but every step she made was like she was walking on air and with elegance. Lae looked down, Redd was sitting on her shoulder, and moved her small bag of public possessions to her opposite hand. Idly she scratched her dragon's knobs. I like that I can talk without talking to you. It's not so much different than sending the pictures to Redd.

Nan, as Laenara affectionately called her, lifted her head up and gave a happy trill.

Stepping into the room, Lae saw what Nan meant... She was a small girl. Much smaller than many her age. So to her, the bed was large in her eyes. And with Leananth being smaller than the traditional color dragons, her bed seemed larger as well. "Hello there. I'm your room mate, Laenara. This is Leananth. Um... Congratulations on Impressing."

Druith opened one eye slowly as the sound of another entering the room caught his attention. Ah, greetings, sister. Forgive me for not giving you a more proper greeting. I am just... so tired right now. Even his cheery tones were drowsy.

Having been privy to what her blue said, Av'nia turned as someone greeted her, a startled look briefly crossing her face before she gave the other girl a timid smile. "H-Hi... I'm Aval- I mean... Av'nia. And this is Druith." She looked over towards her sweet blue before glancing at the crimson dragon. "Oh! T-Thank you! And congratulations to you too!" She paused, looking around their weyr. "I hope you don't mind us taking this side?" Av'nia indicated the bed and wallow she and Druith had claimed. To her, it had seemed the more cramped side (though they were probably equal amounts of space) and more suited to her nature. She didn't like big spaces.

"Leananth is very pretty." Av'nia added, looking shyly at the other hatchling. "You don't think she'll mind Druith, will she?" She asked, not wanting in any way to make anyone uncomfortable.

The crimson looked up expectantly at her rider and waited.

"Oh what? Yes, okay." Lae picked up the dragon and settled her into the basket before sitting down on her own bed. Redd was peering curiously back and forth between the dragons and stranger in the room. The girl seemed nervous as well, cleaning and rearranging. It was good, she didn't like messy people. "Av'nia seems pretty easy to say. I can only imagine people mixing my name and Leananth's here shortly. But my mother didn't shorten her name and I don't think Leananth would want me to shorten mine. But I like how yours sounds."

Awkward silence. Did she insult the girl? Did she say the right thing? This was one of the reasons why she didn't like talking with people much. Smoothing her sheets, she petted Redd. "I hope you don't mind her. And if she gets into your things, just scold her and she'll come back to me."

Druith gave the mental equivalent of a nuzzle as he sighed happily where he lay, eyes closing completely. Yes. Long day indeed. He murmured before falling into a comfortable nap.

Av'nia glanced at her new room mate as she spoke, thinking it was directed at her. But then the girl picked up the crimson and tucked her into place. The tension in her shoulders lessened a little until Laenara spoke to her this time. A small flush dusted her cheeks. "D-Druith... thought it sounded pretty. And, I really never considered what to do if I... Impressed." Her gaze fell to the sleeping blue hatchling. "But I... kinda like it." She added, giving Laenara a smile. "And I think your name sounds just fine as it is! I-I bet your mum will be so proud."

Finally feeling that there was nothing else she could really do to their room, Av'nia put away the cloths she'd been dusting with and sat on her own bed, giving Laenara her full attention. "Oh, p-please don't worry! I don't really have much that she could hurt." Okay. Maybe she could do this. Besides, having one person and hatchling was way easier than being in the barracks with more people.

Laenara gave half a smile. "You would be surprised how much trouble a flit can get into if not properly trained. They are like canines, only much smarter and much more clever. Redd gave me a little trouble before I got her to follow a few basic commands. But I would still watch her."

It was weird, sitting there, with another person in her head and one in front of her. This was probably the longest conversation she had had with any one, barring lectures. And those weren't really conversations as she tended to tune the person out until necessary to answer properly. There would be classes. And more chores. Lae wrinkled her nose and turned to look at Leananth. The dragon would be worth it... But how long before they could be free?

"If she were alive, I'm sure. Are you going to the feast later?" Lae didn't like bringing up her past and especially not around strangers. Maybe later she would count this give as someone she could at least...chat with without cringing inwardly but for now, awkward conversation was the best she had to offer.
