                          Name » Nirhel
                          xxxxmeaning │ "weeping daughter"
                          Gender » Feminine
                          xxxxsex │ female
                          Genus » earthling, shifter
                          xxxxblood │ pure-blooded
                          Stage » youngling

Top Traits » direct, stubborn, skeptical.
                          Personality (in depth) »
xxxxHonesty is Nirhel's policy, the forefront of everything that she does. She seeks the truth in everything leading her to be blunt and incredibly skeptical of the hidden motives of a person's heart. She can be disagreeable at times, and her argumentative nature tend to call to question some pretty sensitive topics for the girl. Manipulation is not her thing, and she refuses to sugar coat things to make other's happy; often leading people to assume she is insensitive. This is not the case, she feels and cares deeply for things, making her passionate, she just doesn't feel the need to lie to get what she desires out of people.
xxxxLoyal and responsible, when Nirhel says she'll do something she means it. Although she is a reclusive body who prefers the solitary life outside of social norms, she is dependable when she is needed. She would rather be needed than not, and will fight hard beside someone who she trusts with her entire being. This is naturally difficult to achieve as Nirhel is a skeptical mind who does not open up easily. However, once you unlock her trust, you have it, and she will be the most loyal friend, or your worst nightmare.
xxxxNirhel can be judgmental when she is skeptical of a person. This is the beginning of things. In her mind the facts are everything, and those who cannot accept that or ignorantly oppose the truth are bugs to be crushed. She would sooner die than dream too big, causing her to be a high strung perfectionist. Perfection is her aim to life, the thing she strives towards. She aims to please her superiors through her perfect abilities, even if they're displeased. There is not a task that she will take on that she will not see through to the very end.
xxxxNirhel has some serious issues with women in general. This stems from her not knowing what to do around women; she was raised alone with her father only, and he died before giving her the mother talk. These issues tend to expose themselves in attitude and skepticism. She would sooner second guess a woman's words than second guess a man's words. She's more tuned into listening to men then women, and this will play a big role in her future with a new family.

                          Description (brief) »
xxxxNirhel is small for her age, taking after her mother in a petite regard. She has a short, a-cut bob hair style that frames her well rounded cheeks and full lips. Her eyes are somewhat narrow with long, thick lashes bordering them. Her hair is silvery-white with slight traces of blue highlighting it, no matter the time. Her eyes, although they do lighten and darken with the coming of day and night, are more silvery in color, almost blue-like.
                          Clothing »
xxxxAs a youngling, naturally she will not be wearing clothes; though she does have her father's tunic that he'd given to her before his death. The tunic has a blue ring around the edges of the long sleeves, and another around the hem of the tunic. It'll take time for her to grow into it. As a prentice, she will wear this tunic, which will come down to her knees or so and will look quite baggy on her. When she is an adult, the tunic will come to her mid-thigh, and be baggy around her neck, probably slipping off of her shoulders. She'll have the sleeves adjusted to fit against her arms, though the neck of the tunic will always be baggy on her.
                          Accessories »
xxxxA belt; probably made of some hide and twined together to form a double belt look with a green leaf to hold it together, often set askew. Feathers braided into her hair as she ages. Other accessories will be decided as she ages and her life changes.

                          History »
xxxxRohask and Darina were from the Shifter Tribe, where they'd been born and raised. However, before Darina became pregnant she was infected with a deplorable sickness that the shifters could not explain. During her pregnancy she began to get worse, her husband was furious and tried to convince the healers to try something new. After giving birth to their daughter, Darina told her husband she did not have the energy to go on, and she passed away a week after her child's birth.
xxxxRohask was furious about his wife's death, and enraged he took his daughter and left the shifter tribe, running away from all he'd known and living in seclusion with his newborn. She cried constantly, and no matter what he tried he could not satisfy his young. So, he named her Nirhel, meaning weeping daughter. They lived in secret for a while, and when she began to toddle, Nirhel would venture around her little world; darting into hiding when she heard any unfamiliar noise. She was very lonely, very bored, and she stopped talking. No matter what her father tried she would not speak more than a few words, though each night she cried herself to sleep, curled in her little bed.
xxxxOne day, the broken family went for a walk together, and decided to play a game. They began to race, and Rohask found himself in an Oban camp, faced with several of the fiends. Desperate to hide his youngling, he raced back, with the Oban on his heels, and he hid her. The Oban initiated a fight, where the man was mortally wounded, pretending to be dead, he listened as the Oban searched for his youngling; though Nirhel did not make a peep, hiding within the boughs of a large tree within the rainforest. She watched in horror. When the Oban moved from the area, angered at not finding the child, her father rose and took her, moving towards the tribe's home. But, Rohask knew he could not go on much further. Not wanting his Nirhel to see him die, he placed her beneath a tree, took his tunic from his satchel and wrapped it around his daughter, swaddling her as she cried. Then he hobbled away.
xxxxAt first, Nirhel went after her father, crying and calling to him; but she tripped over the overly large tunic. She lay there crying and wailing for him to return, until two younglings found her. The children of Kelina and Sauron.

OOC » the children will meet in a role play. Nirhel is often portrayed with light skin.

Questions and Answers from Staff below in the spoiler.

Why would Nirhel trust the younglings enough to interact with them; let alone follow them home?
Well, we had planned for her to be found by the children in the role play. I'll more than likely do a sort of 'children crave peer interaction' deal with that. Nirhel will only come out because they are children. If it was the adults she'd probably be hiding more so out of fear for the Oban.

How does she react to the adoptive family, is she warm and receptive off the bat or withdrawn and cold…
More than likely, she will definitely react to the parents in a cold and uncertain way. Probably hiding behind their children for the beginning of the plot. She will however come to warm up more to Sauron rather than Kelina, because she was raised by her father rather than her mother whom she'd never met.

What caused the Obans not to look for the girl if they saw the two fleeing together?
I took the liberty of editing that into the first post. It wasn't so much they didn't look for her, but couldn't find her because her father hid her well and told her to remain quiet. And thus they returned to their camp disappointed.

Why was her father so nervous and angry around other shifters? Did they have something to do with his wife's death?
Also edited this into the history. But I'll clarify. Her father was angry because he thought the healers should've tried harder to heal his wife; who was weakened due to illness and was slowly dying after giving birth. The sickness probably took it's toll due to her putting extensive energy into giving birth to Nirhel, and afterwards she couldn't regain the energy to survive.

is she skeptical of strangers only or does she question everyone? If she questions everyone how does she determine whether she is close to someone or not?
How I have her in my mind is she's skeptical of everyone, everybody leads a potential threat to her; and group settings tend to freak her out even more. Think... Introvert on Paranoia pills. It takes a long time for her to come out of her shell and trust someone; I often thought of her as a skittish filly, once the filly gets adjusted to you with soft voices and comforting, she's loyal to you. That's how I see Nirhel in my mind. She determines this by the person's overall kindness. (Hence why children are easier to trust than adults).

and this makes her blunt? Or she is generally Blunt? is it hard for her to communicate with people because of this?
Okay, I don't think I worded that part well. She does indeed have a hard time communicating with others due to her bluntness, which comes more from her nervousness around others and her skeptical views than anything else.

Meaning the death of her parents? Leading to hatred for Obans? Does she know who(specifically or not) killed her parents?
Yes, the death of her father is hard for her to let go, she'll probably have nightmares (which would turn into journal entries) of her father's "last stand" against the Oban. She despises the Oban, and if ever faced with one would probably be cold and irrational, taking her anger out on them with whatever she could find. She does not know who specifically killed her father, as she was young at the time; and she has no memory of her mother whatsoever, so she holds no ill will over her mother's death.

Previous form is in the spoiler below.
Name » Nirhel
xxxxmeaning │ "weeping daughter"
Gender » Feminine
xxxxsex │ female
Genus » earthling, shifter
xxxxblood │ pure-blooded
Stage » youngling

Top Traits » passionate, skeptical, sensitive.
Personality (in depth) »
xxxxNirhel means the Weeping Daughter, which is why her father gave her the name. She is a very sensitive girl, when hurt she tends to hold grudges that last years. Her father's secluding her away has caused her to be skeptical of folks around her. This does not generally change when her father passes, and her skepticism begins to grow even further. It takes time to get Nirhel to trust someone, but when she does grow to trust, she will be a loyal companion, willing to serve and please so long as they do not betray her trust. Nirhel is prone to spending long period of time on her own, a coping mechanism for the horrors she was put in as a youngling. Interruption upon these solitary hours can cause her to be blunt and straight forward, often giving the appearance of withdrawn and cynical behavior. She is prone to saying things she doesn't mean when she feels threatened, and her skeptical attitude makes her feel threatened in the presence of those she does not know. She can be hard to handle during these times, often making excuses that have no genuine backing. It is very easy to make Nirhel cry, and often times the reasoning behind her tears has more so to do with her inability to let things go than her feelings being hurt. She is often unaware of her tears, and this causes her to further seclude herself; not playing with others or opening up to anyone. But Nirhel is passionate, she will strive through all things until she is assured that her work is completed. This causes her to be quite boastful and cocky when given praise.

Description (brief) »
xxxxNirhel is rather small for her age, taking after her mother in the petite regard. She has a long torso. Nirhel has a charmingly heart shaped face that will stick with her throughout her life. Her hair is a pristine silvery-white color, lighter than that of her family, and as a youngling it is bobbed in a signature a-cut (ie: shorter in the back longer in the front). For a reference to her hair style when she is fully grown, see Asuna from Sword Art Online.
Clothing »
xxxxNirhel's father had bundled her up in his tunic when she was a youngling, before he died. When she ages, she'll wear the tunic. As a prentice it'll be baggy on her and she'll undoubtedly get a vine belt to hold it up. When she is in stage two her tunic will come to her midthigh, and she'll begin wearing a thigh high legging on her left leg, in a deep blue, and a knee high legging on her right leg, also deep blue. The tunic's material is very light, and tan, there is a blue band at the bottom and around the sleeves, though no matter how much she grows the sleeves will not fit properly and will hang off of her shoulders quite a bit.
Accessories »
xxxxHer vine belt around her waist, to keep her tunic in place. Blueish feathers braided into her hair on the right side. Unknown further accessories.

History »
xxxxNirhel was born to two shifter parents; her mother passed away soon after she was born, due to a mysterious illness that the shifters could not heal. Her father, feeling outraged by the shifters negligence towards his wife, stole away with his daughter in the dead of the night, hoping to get far away from the life he'd always known. As a child, Nirhel cried frequently, causing him to give her the name Nirhel.

Her father kept her highly secluded, as such with any unfamiliar sound she'd dart away and hide before she was seen. This caused her to be wary of most everyone, and forced her to often times seclude herself. By the time she was capable of talking, she rarely said more than a few words. Her father was concerned at first, and tried to spend as much time with her as possible, though still she continued to be fairly quiet.

One day, while the pair were out on a walk, her father came across an Oban camp. The Oban believed he'd come to spy, and they attacked. Nirhel and her father fled a little ways, until he could hide her, but the Oban followed him. He fought back, and was gravely injured in the battle. The Oban, believing he was already dead, tried to locate the child who he had hid, in order to sell her, though they could not find her location and returned to their camp enraged. Once assured they'd gone, Nirhel's father limped to her and scooped her up in his tunic, wrapping it around her firmly and then began to make his way to the shifters' home.

Nirhel was deathly quiet as her father had carried her towards the home of the shifters in the heart of the rainforest. He couldn't go on for much longer, and not wanting her to see him die, he gently placed her beneath a tree and bundled her neatly into his tunic, before he left her. Nirhel tried to follow at first, but tripped over the tunic and wailed eerily, heartbroken at being abandoned in unfamiliar territory.

Soon, she was found by a pair of younglings, the children of Kelina and Sauron. The younglings led Nirhel to their parents, and in the end Nirhel was adopted into their family.

OOC » in art she would be portrayed with light skin.
The meeting of Kelina and Sauron's children will be further progressed in role play and is not yet part of her past.

Aww poor sweet babe! crying I can't think of anything that would need correcting. I would ask what happened to her mother, or if anyone found what happened to her father - but I won't make you explain, if you'd rather that air of mystery.

Running into the forest with his daughter after losing his wife sounds realistic, considering the invasion going on.

Her personality was a little confusing to me until I read her history along with it, which corroborated nicely. For now, I feel this is great - I wonder if, in the future, she will find any other family, or find out what happened to her father, and how that will affect her growing up post-war.

Any thoughts?

Is it possible for like a bad sickness to be her mother's cause of death? Like it would've happened whether she gave birth or not but giving birth to Nirhel made her weaker?

Alright, Recapping for my own sanity~

- Shes sensitive takes things personal
- She doesn't let go of her past- Meaning the death of her parents? Leading to hatred for Obans? Does she know who(specifically or not) killed her parents?
- She views things differently than others - and this makes her blunt? Or she is generally Blunt? is it hard for her to communicate with people because of this?
- She's loyal and hates to disappoint
- She tries to keep an open mind but remains skeptical - is she skeptical of strangers only or does she question everyone? If she questions everyone how does she determine whether she is close to someone or not?
- She doesn't like strangers and will often hide from people she does not know
- She spends lengths of time wrapped up in herself - You also reference that the time she spent alone with her father was boring for her. does this change after her father's death? Is this a coping mechanism?
- Passionate, dedicated, Hates interruption
- Aims to please and can be boastful

Past:
"...her father began to feel rage and nervousness around other shifters."
- Why was her father so nervous and angry around other shifters? Did they have something to do with his wife's death?

"One day, while the pair were out on a walk, her father came across an Oban camp. The Oban believed he'd come to spy, and they attacked. Nirhel and her father fled a little ways, until he could hide her, but the Oban followed him. He fought back, and was gravely injured in the battle. The Oban, believing he was already dead, went back to their camp in high spirits."
- The Oban's were known for taking children and selling them into slavery in Oba. What caused the Obans not to look for the girl if they saw the two fleeing together?

Lastly:
Keeping this in mind: "She doesn't like strangers and will often hide from people she does not know"

"Soon, she was found by a pair of younglings, the children of Kelina and Sauron. The younglings led Nirhel to their parents, and in the end Nirhel was adopted into their family."
- Why would Nirhel trust the younglings enough to interact with them; let alone follow them home? - How does she react to the adoptive family, is she warm and receptive off the bat or withdrawn and cold…

I would like to see more elaboration on how she reacts to the family, how she was wrangled to their house considering she had avoided everything when living with her father. (Unless of course this was intended to be an rp and not necessarily part of her past. ^^')

Akuma is being thorough xD

the one thing i got hung up on was in her description "her torso is longer than her legs"
the way I envision that is well.. horrifying. unless she actually has a deformity i would suggest maybe just saying she has a long torso.

other than that i look forward to seeing how her character develops in the future. 8D

Yes to this, for sure. Something like this would be totally plausible in Tendaji. :]

And my questions coincide with what the other say so once we have those answers we can move on to anything else that may pop up :]
